What was your though on him
- in the indies
- in WWE before main event
- as a WWE top star
- when he left
Do you honestly want him back? In WWE, AEW, NJPW?

I am fucking shitfaced right now. If this by some miracle is alive 10 hours from now I will explain my thoughts. No one should want punk back in wrestling.
dunno
liked his feud with jeff hardy
stopped watching
good quality meme
never saw him wrestle.
the only time I saw him was when he got owned like a bitch twice in UFC lol.
He's one of the few with a clue. He is a self mark, ultra competitive, spiteful, prima donna. Unafraid to tip his pram if he doesn't get his own way. It's exactly this attitude that sparked the attitude era and we could do with more like him.
>didnt watch, heard he was shit
>didnt watch, heard he was shit
>people only care about the pipebomb, everything afterwards is a result of it, it could have been anyone
>spinny_kick_ufc.mp4
>i would like to hear the pop, but dont actually care about him, so he should go to aew before it dies
>actually trying to discuss wrestling on Yea Forums
Fuck outta here
cringe /woo/ shit
>woo
Dude was good and was over too. his problem was wrestling in the years when Cena was king.
I also think Vince/Haitch didn't like how Punk got over with the crowd. So they kept mishandling him and jobbing him here and there until he called it quits.
when he berated that fan it was hilarious
ECW Punk was interesting but I stopped watching around 2012
wasn’t watching and didn’t care about wrestling from 2012 to 2017, I did go back and watch some of the PPVs and the pipebomb but wasn’t really interested
0 and 2 in UFC is the funniest shit
if he came back to AEW the pop and couple of months where AEW actually beats NXT and maybe a Smackdown or Raw in ratings would be worth, I don’t think there is anyone in Japan that could get a good enough match out of him for him to go there
YOU HAVE A VAGINA
His pipebomb exposed the business for what it was. Phil is #AEW
>in the indies
never even heard of him back then
>in WWE before main event
great talker, good hand
>as a WWE top star
fantastic talker, lazy in the ring
>when he left
initially I supported him, but he's become more and more of a cunt and his multiple failures in the UFC haven't helped either.
>- in the indies
I don't watch indies
>- in WWE before main event
I don't watch midcarders
>- as a WWE top star
Le pipebomb. His promos were the same shit every time. Cena carried their feud. He still had some good matches with him to be fair
>- when he left
He gave me some good laughs
>claims that he is the best in the world
>says he will leave WWE to become a UFC star
>trains with the best trainers Dana White could give him
>loses his first match without landing a single punch
>"I-it's just a fluke guys, i will come back even stronger"
>loses his second match and gets humiliated by the opponent
>loses a local three man jude tournament
>loses to his wife in a dishwashing competition
>loses to a fan while on commentary
It's interesting to watch how low he can go
>Do you honestly want him back?
No. He took a fat spray shit on his own legacy just to spite HHH.
>didn't watch indies then
>thought he was cool on ECW
>he was the best promo in his era and was a character unlike most indie darlings
>quit watching WWE around then but he made a lot of valid points in that podcast but was also whiny before becoming a mark for himself and getting his ass kicked
I liked his "young punk kid who talks big and bites more than he could chew but somehow could pull a win" gimmick. It felt fresh and it was really over.
Remember when Punk cashed on Edge? the crowd was going bananas.
- in the indies
>Never heard of him
- in WWE before main event
>Thouht he looked kinda cool and had a good music, but then he ran a shitty straight edge promo, dropped the guy.
- as a WWE top star
>Not great in the ring, only claim to fame is being allowed to break the 4th wall in a promo. Le deadpool man
- when he left
>His UFC run was an embarassment for all involved, and he tries to make us forget it by doing fucking reality TV.
He's a delusional self mark and no one should want him. Maybe AEW should get him for a very short run, get the pop, sell merch and that's it, you're out.
I liked him in the indies ever since I saw him in IWA Mid-South wrestling Chris Hero. He was one of my favorite wrestlers. The only WWE match from him I saw was his debut match. Kinda lost interest after that. Now I kinda feel like he's an asshole.
cuckman phil never drew a dime
Liked him at the time. Watching all his promo's now he just seems whiny like an entitled teenager. Natural Heel though. Still he got over big in 2011 and they should have at least TRIED to run with the guy just to see what happened.
Dont watch indies so i dont care
Thought he was a gay emo
Stopped watching around then
Happy but annoyed since the shit fans keep going on about him
He can fuck off to aew or japan who actually cares? He was a shit wrestler anywag
>in the indies
wasn't watching around this time so I didn't know who he was
- in WWE before main event
also wasn't watching around this time but the stuff I went back and watched was decent
- as a WWE top star
I got back into wrestling around the time he joined Nexus. I immediately took a liking to him and he became my favorite wrestler at the time. The pipebomb promo and subsequent main event run put him in my top 5 all time.
- when he left
His UFC "career" made me lose all respect for him.
Fuck. Forgot to greentext the rest of the post.
Only time I didn't like him was the very end when he looked half dead. Don't know if his body died or he couldn't be bothered but that last year was just sad to watch.
>Do you honestly want him back? In WWE, AEW, NJPW?
a man held him down to the mat and TICKLED him in a shoot fight. he can't even pretend to be a tough guy. his career in any athletic endeavor should be over.
I must be a real old fag to have seen him in the indies. Jeez, his trilogy versus Joe in ROH was like the Okada vs Omega of its day. Three huge matches that really woke a lot of people up to what was going on in ROH.
He was good there but not great. I never quite saw the hype for the Joe matches (weirdly I thought the first was best) and I think Joe had better defences against guys like Bryan. Still, Punk was decent. Good feud with Raven (more for the promos than the matches) and he could have some fun brawls with the guys in the Prophecy. His 90 minute wankfest with Hero seemed super indulgent, though.
He was an upper midcard guy then, and I think that's where he always deserved to be.
He took a break after Mania that year and I think that's when he really realized he didn't wanna do this shit anymore.
Pic related punk was absolute d i m e s
>- in the indies
Had none. Wasn't watching at the time and certainly wouldn't watch indieshit but I have gone back and watched some of his stuff and was honestly unimpressed. Maybe it was a product of the hype of the time but he was as sloppy as ever.
>- in WWE before main event
Didn't watch
>- as a WWE top star
Pretty based to start but kinda leveled out. Usually entertaining though he got a bit samey
>- when he left
Constant comedy gold.
>Do you honestly want him back? In WWE, AEW, NJPW?
If he returned he'd do so to AEW, so I wouldn't care because I'm not gonna watch that. My ideal is he returns to WWE for the smark seethe. As long as he doesn't shit up NJPW which he never would anyway I'm largely indifferent, though.
Hes better than HHH in every logical way
I'll be honest, i don't give a shit one way or another.
Someone explain to me why he's hated so much and why he's so loved. All I know is the pipebomb. Genuinely never saw anything he's done besides that.
Because he's a symbol. He's an example of "talented guy who could have been huge if the company handled him right". Maybe that's true, maybe it's not. But the fact that he hasn't come back to prove people right/wrong either way means people keep sperging out.
>Phil
>could've been huge
Never actually drew in the main event. There's more stance against than for him being "huge".
Always rated him lads. From the very first time I saw him on ECW I knew he'd be a star. He's one of the few guys who's always managed to be interesting. I'd stopped watching wrestling for a few years until he did the pipe bomb promo. He was easily the second best guy WWE's had since Cena. He could have been a Cena tier draw but by 2011 WWE got out of the business of making stars.
It's a shame that he'll probably never work with WWE ever again. He had the balls to stand up to Vince and Haitch in a day and age where everyone walks on eggshells. I knew the UFC thing was a cash grab (by Dana of course). If he was serious about MMA he'd have done a few fights somewhere else before going to UFC. Nonetheless the people who make fun of him for going 0-2 are full of shit. 95 percent of people wouldn't last 2 minutes against a professional fighter.
If he still wants to wrestle AEW should sign him up in a heartbeat. If he doesn't I'd still throw money at him to be a color commentator. JR and CM Punk will easily give AEW the best commentary team not just in wrestling but quite possibly in sports.
Did you seriously expect anything but meme buzzword answers?
He was based on the indies and based in WWE. Would be cool to see him in either WWE or AEW but by this point, he’s probably too old and his body is all fucked up.
I still don't understand why so many people think he is great.
Do they not realize that lowering the bar and allowing him to pretend he is great is what has caused so much damage to the industry?
Imagine the pop he'll get on AEW
Tuned out of WWE entirely once he began his rise. Complete shitter who can't wreslte and got completely exposed in ufc.
If he comes back he has zero credibility and i can't take him seriously in ring at all. He's a joke and desu if aew wants to succeed they should stay far away.
They're too dumb and know that the fleeting fanbase will flock towards him, but it doesn't matter since in 10 years they will all die of cardiac arrest.
>In the indies
Based. This was when everyone on the indies had their own unique style, and he was one of the few guys who was comfortable on the mic. He was always clunky, even back then, but his psychology was better than most. This is probably because of his dimes feud with Raven.
>WWE before main event
Eh. Underused. He was still mega-over with fans at this time. I remember when he got a bigger pop than DX and they had to improvise.
>WWE top star
They never gave him the big run on top. Cena still ate most of the screen time and then they turned Punk heel for no real reason. Punk was at the point, where unlike Cena, people just refused to boo him. There's some comedy in him trying to do anything to get booed, and people just refused to do so. I remember when he made fun of Lawlers heart attack and spilled Bearer's "ashes" on himself to cheers. Shit was hilarious. Wish he got a fair shot because it was the right time. Should've gotten a main event match against Cena at Mania.
>When he left
Agreed and more of the problems ended up being true anyway. WWE ratings dropped even lower because they couldn't bring back guys like the Rock and shit back anymore and they never bothered to make a genuine star at that time. They never gave a guy-- outside of Cena, a shot at anything, so now that Cena's gone, we're stuck with a bunch of people who looked like geeks for a decade or so.
>Do you honestly want him back?
I would love to see him back, but he's always been sloppy, and I'd imagine with the ring rust it'd only be worse. I'd take him as a commentator for them, but I think I'm fine not seeing him wrestle again.
THIS. People could bitch all they want, but every major star was a paranoid self-mark for a reason. You have to politic to make dimes, this kum-ba-ya shit in the back is the reason that WWE feels like a cult.
>I was like 8 or 9
>Liked his music in smackdown vs raw 2008
>loved his shit
>Fallout was entertaining and clowned on him for going to ufc even before his match
I would love to see the reaction to him coming back and I'm sure it would be somewhat interesting for a while
based and this
>- in the indies
His ROH run was alright. His PWG appearances were even better.
>- in WWE before main event
SEC against Jeff Hardy and his ECW feuds were great.
>- as a WWE top star
It was good for a while but then it sucked hard after Paul Heyman started managing him.
>- when he left
He seems even more of a cuck now after the complete humiliation he was served in the UFC. He should have fought some shitters like Batista for some fake credibility to get a feel for the competition before fighting some no-name guys who are actually not bad to decent once you do some research.
>Do you honestly want him back? In WWE, AEW, NJPW?
On commentary sure, he is a draw. But I think his credibility as a performer has shot.
