Earlier this year I thought Okada was having an off year. I really liked his two Jay matches and the Ishii match was a MOTY contender, but the Sanada defense was shit and his first Ospreay match wasnt very good either.
But looking at his G1 run you see how much you take the guy for granted. He had almost everyone's best match in the whole tournament. Only Fale, Archer and maybe Kenta had their best match with someone else.
He really is the best guy for a top champ in the world, has the look, works the house style perfectly(this can be considered a negative but I really dont mind the NJ big match layout), is safe as fuck and his ascent to where he is helped move NJPW to the comfortable spot they are in now.
If Okada keeps it up for two more years with no major injury, hes the GOAT.
