Why would competition make them move to a less profitable business model that opens them up to fewer business-to-business opportunities? Most of the expendable income in the US in 201X is controlled by children, retirees, and women in their 20's. Unless you're able to pinpoint market to your niche market, going raunchier (and thereby alienating those three power-markets) is not a strong choice. Maybe if it were still the 90's, when the important demographics were different, and WWE made most of its money directly from the fans rather than business-to-business deals and Saudi money laundering, there could be SOME argument for it, but in 201X? Not a chance. Yes, the smarks, myself included, will always want raunchier shit, but the smarks (myself included) all either flock to the next big indy thing, all already have subscriptions and aren't giving them up, or both... and most of them are pretty resistant to the sort of marketing you get in the side/product-placement deals that make up so much of WWE's revenue stream, making them not a meaningful demographic from a making money standpoint (I mean, you have to appease them/us enough to control the troll chants at live shows, but that's it.)
