if you follow the teachings of buddha and the non-fetters isn't it strange that you cling to creation for the sake of others, isn't that a desire that buddha preached against?
the fetters are insidious, even the seemingly benevolent wish to free others from the wheel can be interpreted as a fetter in itself which causes buddha to be stuck on the wheel despite their teachings, that's why they called buddha a fool, not because he freed himself of the wheel but because he really didn't instead he doomed himself to be the one that will never be freed from the wheel until they realize the final fetter which is the desire to liberate others from it
mara won and according to the text that survived to this day (possibly abridged ones) buddha didn't even know it, ironic isn't it he could save others from samsara but not himself
what if all the ones that could be freed and wanted to be freed are freed long long ago and all of this is illusion to keep the one last person from being freed, the perfect prison that you can only escape when you finally let go of false truth of abridged teachings of buddha and by realizing the true meaning of non-fetter

Whew! but yes. If it were true then we are stuck only by our own stubborn will and good nature. I am not certain, I am trying to do something else (even though I admittedly love helping others), when I reach, if I reach my goal I will be not free nor bound by anything.
