I couldn't even watch more than 5 minutes of this snooze fest holy shit. THIS was what wrestling looked like in 2008?
ITT: overrated matches

why are redditors so unfunny and lacking subtlety when they try to "troll"?
Beats flippy manlets
what's the matter? not enough flips for ya?
Not enough dick flips, zoomer?
The absolute state of bait in 2019
You are aware that Ric was like 60 years old?...
Meltzer gave this match 3.5 stars and Shawn admitted post-match that he wasn't thrilled about how it went down, felt Ric just didnt have it on this night
hello ric! how's the heart? oh that's right it ain't in good shap huh
lmao
loser
>Meltzer
I didn't think anyone rated it highly
>meltzer ratings
back
>Meltzer gave this match 3.5 stars
the king of smarks who is trying to usher in an era of faggotry didn't like it. who cares
>Shawn admitted post-match that he wasn't thrilled about how it went down, felt Ric just didnt have it on this night
one of the biggest self marks in the history of wrestling says a mediocre match is the other guy's fault. got it.
Meltzer thinks arguably the biggest and most iconic match in the entire history of wrestling was -5 stars, Hogan vs Andre at Mania 3. His opinion is dog shit
You could pick any Shawn Michaels match really.
Which means he shouldnt have been there
which makes sense, cause, you know, that was the entire point of the match and retirement
jesus fucking christ
If it was anyone else but flair it would've gotten maybe 1.5 stars at best.
hogan vs andre did suck though. it drew but it sucked. andre could barely move.
>letting a jew dictate what you should like
good goy
we're talking about an event whose biggest, most money match ever involved a crippled andre the giant. flair drew the house at mania 24, ergo he belonged there.
>workrate faggotry
This is why wrestling will never be as big as it was. It was treated as a spectacle, not a sport for Meltzer memeflakes with larger than life characters the way it should be.
>2 old bald midgets have a ticklefight and fuck up their fake tans
I am BEGGING people who enjoyed this to have sex and get a clue
>implying Flair even had matches better than 3.5 stars throughout almost all of his career
Flair is pretty based so I don't mind this meme about how he's the best wrestler ever but it's like a third hand heresay passed down from one generation of smark to another. Truth be told he was average as fuck by all modern metrics except for how many shows he did which is an accomplishment in its own right but doesn't say much about how good he really was. The matches he had at the end of his career were great matches considering he was so old and broke down. It was a very good match with HBK, if you were expecting le five stars you played yourself. He also had one of the best cage matches in history with Triple H at the tail end of his career, which is extremely impressive.
This. People talk about Floyd only AFTER he became a megastar in the 2010s.. truth is Ric drew the house. Every casual fan I knew was talking about Flair leading up to the show
andre is my favorite wrestler of all time ya simp. the fact is that he could barely move by 1987. you can have a slow workrate and be great, but he was literally unable to move due to injury and his hereditary illness.
The problem with spectacle is the fact that they are eventually lost to time as fans get younger and cannot connect at all with the characters presented.
Hogan/Andre was an absolutely shit match and will eventually be relegated as nothing but a shit match.
I wanted to like it, but I found the whole thing rather dull. Probably would've been the shit if I saw it in 2007.
Yeah if you weren't watching NOAH shows leading up to this I feel like you missed out on the vibe. Most matches are probably like that to be fair fair to be fair to be fair
glandular i mean, not hereditary
You're right
Meltzer is killing the business lol and smarks
>all modern metrics
exactly his moves per minute, ability to perform the flawless false finish and flips per quarter hour were not up to par. not to mention he lacked the endurance to go a full 30 minutes which is the minimum match length for serious competition
yea dude meltzer is totally killing the business with his opinion of a match involving a literally crippled 7-footer that he published in 1987
Ric Flair was "Broadway Big Dimes" and worked a gazillion hour long matches that brought in big time money for years. For his era, he was THE ironman.
Any Heartbreak Simp match
Meltzer rated both HBK vs Taker matches like shit despite both being extremely good
hogan vs andre was shit
stop drinking the wwmeme kool aid and get a clue ya zoomer
The problem with the feud and the match was that they built it around history that didn't exist, their paths only crossed on screen (which is the only place it counts) during the Evolution feud which was more about HHH, then all of a sudden we're supposed to treat Shawn like he was Sting/Streamboat/Arn who has legitimate history with Flair. The next best thing they could actually do was an Evolution member and they didn't even do that. The finish was trying way too hard too.
ok but what about my other three modern metrics?
Meltzer is a Ric Flair mark
Pretty sure at least on of them got five snowflakes.
Bret-Shawn ironman match. Bret-Owen Summerslam steel cage match both put me to sleep
wrestling is not about the matches, without the buildup there is no reason to care, if you arent invested in the match it is literally two dudes play fighting
I gave your mom 3 metrics. In the ass. Go back to flippy world where the wrestlers wish they could carry Flair's jock.
Nope
>to be fair fair to be fair to be fair

BASED
HBK vs Shitman Iron Man match. Two dimeless shitters that couldn't even fill a hockey arena for a Wrestlemania. People were literally leaving during their match
And they took up literally half the show for hype + the match itself because they were such colossal marks for themselves despite the fact that they couldn't draw flies in a shithouse
They both got 4.75. Meltzer barely gave anything 5 stars during that time.
Every omega and dean match
This, Meltzer went years without giving out a 5, unlike today.
You could list half of HBK's "great" matches.
vs Jericho at WM19
vs Triple H at RR 2004
vs Bret Hart at WM12
vs Austin at WM13
vs Carder at WM26
vs Cena at WM23 and on Raw
vs Kurt Angle on Raw
HBK was the GOAT at the WWE style. That’s either a good or a bad thing depending on your preference.
what's the matter zoom zoom? Who hurt you?
He was great, there's no doubt about it, but there was no way to know back then that his style would influence so many shitters and leave us with the fuckfest that is modern wrestling.
K prowreshero
BUT THE STORYTELLING
What about them you're just being a faggot nobody thinks that way so suck a mexican dick.
a lot of people have begun to see the value in using sabermetric-like advanced stats; such as moves per minute, flips per quarter hour and false finish rate, to analyze wrestling contests
if its not about the moves then what the hell is wrestling about!?
Unironically Savage/Steamboat WM3. God it was so boring
>THIS was what wrestling looked like in 2008?
Too young to even be a zoomer. Go downstairs kiddo, tell your mom you love her. She worries about you.
Nice try, Al Snow.
>Royal Rumble 04
Lmao no one cares about that match in the first place
Shawn Michaels "epics" are my personal definition of wrestling hell.
Literally all of those matches are good. Seriously what's with the suddenly new meme about HBK being shit all of a sudden? Is it because he's that good that it works everyone into a shitpost? Did y'all get bored of calling Undertaker shit or something?
Worse than Haitchs forced 30 min epics every few months?
anyone who uses the term overrated in any capacity should be shot
