34 is still pretty young for a pro wrestler. Lots of big guys in the past only got to the main event scene in their early 30s. And usually guys can go until late 40s if they want, barring a major injury. Drew has the size, the look, he can work, and he can talk.

Top guys don't need a long time in the spotlight to draw dimes or make a huge impact though. Austin is the biggest draw in wrestling history, but his time at the top as an active wrestler was only about 5 years when you consider his time off for injuries. He was 40 upon retirement, but most wrestlers go well past 40. Austin had severe injuries that built up and he eventually had enough. It is a similar story with the Rock, only replace injury layoffs with movie roles, and about 5 years at the top only.
A guy like Hogan or Cena, or Bruno, that is a top guy for a decade or more is the rarity. But is that really needed?

Yes. The overall success of wrestling is predicated by a handful of mega stars that draw people to the business as a whole. Wrestling was hot as fuck in the 80s and 90s. It didn't matter if Hulk Hogan was going to wrestle for you or if Ric Flair was going to bring the NWA title into your area. They got people into wrestling and made people say "they have wrestling here in town? i've got to go see that". It was the same in the 90s. ECW benefited enormously from WCW and the WWF drawing a combined rating of 14 on cable television, outside of any direct business they did with the WWF.
Wrestling being popular is good for the entire business. Having a simp like Seth Rollins as the face of wrestling is bad business for everyone. If the only wrestling product people are really familiar with is bad it isn't going to make people say "i want to see an alternative" its just going to make them stop watching and stop buying tickets.
