Zoomers. desu a lot of the lower card shit is kind of cringe in retrospect but you really had to be there. crowds were hot as fuck for even the worst angles.

I don't think the AE is bad but DX was fucking cringe my man, that faggot Russo should've strap the rocket to Chyna instead of Triple Shit

No, Triple H deserves to be strapped to a rocked and launched to the sun that big nosed faggot

Attitude Era only worked "live" because it was a soap opera, it doesn't work if you go back and rewatch it knowing exactly what's going to happen. There's a reason the old Nitros have more viewers than the old Raws on the Network.

It's literally zoomers seething that they didn't get to live through it

Retrospect really doesn't matter when at the time these hokey lowcard angles were actually drawing dimes and creating characters

Based, do that shit to X-Pac too, faggot had no gimmick at all which surprises me from Russo

I disagree. I know and have seen plenty of people talking favourably of old Raws.
I think the reason Nitro would have more views is the novelty of seeing WCW on the Network and because the Network is obviously geared toward WWE fans, they're more likely not to have seen Nitro. There were countries that didn't get WCW on TV but for WWF.

Pencil necked nu-males who find all the sexism and homophobia very problematic

Its people that find it offensive

Vince McMahon.

10 mins in: "okay, this promo is still going and he hasn't really said anything interesting, but it's still based! and the crowd loves it!"
15 mins in: "now austin is gone and now here comes al snow! lol.. al snow... classic character... loved the head gimmick... and he's fighting ken shamrock, cool!"
20 mins in "why are they still cheering for head, like okay yeah it's funny buy come on let's see some wrestling"
25 mins: "al snow is so fucking shit at wrestling goddamn, let this match end"
30 mins: "a double count out? lame"
35 mins in: "ugh, a bra and panties match... king is such a creep"
40 mins in: "christ... where the fuck is the wrestling?! I don't give a shit about this trashy shit!!!! linda mcmahon promo??? wtf... I"M SO BORED... oh no please not an undertaker ministry promo! gawd this is cringeeeee"
45 mins in: "MAKE IT STOP.... MAKE IT STOP"
50 mins in: *suicide*

Was watching some YouTube video and the narrator said he started watching in 2011 so he’d been watching “for a while.” Never really thought about it but a large percentage of the fan base probably wasn’t even around for the only time it was any good. No wonder they put up with the dog shit that it’s become.

AEfags are either Russofags or edgy zoomers who watched a few clips on youtube. It was a product of its time and thats why it was so successful, but it hasnt aged well.

Zoomers and not enough thigh slaps

It was very problematic, misogynist, racist, transphobic, and homophobic to be quite honest with y'all.

based and truthpilled

Your average deluded AEfag. Cant stand the fact that his childhood tv show doesnt hold up so he turns it into politics.

>Attitude Era only worked "live" because it was a soap opera
You say that like it's a bad thing. The point is to connect with the viewers at that time, which the Attitude Era did better than any other time in wrestling history.

cringe and wrng

>There's a reason the old Nitros have more viewers than the old Raws on the Network.
Yeah, it's because the Attitude had casual fans who moved on from wrestling because it sucks. Of course the people who still watch and subscribe to a wrestling network are more interested in the 'wrestling' show. It's not surprising at all.

they should have called it the BADittude era considering how fucking shit it was
ruthless agression = peak of pro wrestling in the west

>Where did this dumbass meme come from?
retards.

The development of the attitude era was really interesting to watch. From 96-98ish WCW clearly had the better in ring product. Because of the Cruiserweight division the entire card was usually worth watching.

WWF had some solid stuff towards the top of the card but really suffered on the undercard, some Raws in 96 are damn near unwatchable. WWF only had a few main eventers who could really make others look good and no one was as over or ego centered as HBK so you couldn't have him put people over left and right.

They really needed two things to happen.
1. Bret Hart returning
2. Somebody to get over with the crowd to be on Main Event WrestleMania status

Austin got some pop after the Jake the Snake match but didn't really start getting over with the crowd until later. IMO the main reason Austin got over was an injury to Savio Vega. Austin as a heel was set to wrestle Vega a face at IYH: Buried Alive. Vega got hurt so they substituted HHH. HHH was a heel low card shitter at the time with a new England blue blood gimmick with shitty harpsichord entrance music. No one liked him, even as a heel. Austin meanwhile debuted his glass breaking entrance music after laying down a great promo. Because they were both heels at the time it was easy to cheer for Austin. Austin would for the first time flip HHH the bird before hitting the stunner. It was pure dimes and the crowd went nuts and Austin came off as a face.

From then on the Hart/Austin feud would grow. No one could get passed the idea of Austin as a face. The Rock would also make his debut and grow into his famous persona. You would finally get enough guys at the top end of the card where the bottom would be filled with quality talent like Owen Hart or Bulldog instead of shitters like Bart Gunn.

Basically the allure of the AE is wearing off as fans get younger and younger. They dont hold the same emotional connect and they can view this era of edgy shock value wrestling from the outside in.

Shit like this happens every generation. Hell the AE era was panned as it was happening by older fans at that time as none of it was seen as "real wrestling" but just mindless violent hyper sexualized garbage. The same will happen to us, hell it's probably happening right now as general AE fans arent really connecting with the super athletic style presented today and dismissing it as flippy shit or being angered at MOVES while younger fans of this current generation tend to love it and are wowed by what they see as they go on to post the best sequences for view counts and likes.

The Attitude era was for adults. the modern product is for children and s o y boys.

Its just vocal niche minority that are move marks. Casual fans are not on twitter posting about wrestling.

The Ricochet/Ospreay sequence is one of the most posted and popularized spots in wrestling.

in denial smarks and zoomers. there are literal oldfag smarks who pretend they wouldnt mark the fuck out if stone cold stunnered their grandma on tv.

Most of the storylines and gimmicks already put the Attitude Era way over what remains now, zoomers are probably angry that wrestlers weren't flippy enough or that some of the matches were awful

And? It doesnt mean it will translate to TV ratings.

The flippy stunts spot that made that match popular was objectively bad wrestling and i say this as an Ospreay mark.

It's all subjective.
What we are seeing is a transition in what fans are considering "wrestling"

It's standard backlash.

What we are seeing is record low ratings.

The internet when people had the chance to re-watch it and realize that it was in fact shitty.

funny how it's happening to the wrestling show the least focused around wrestling

>mindless violent hyper sexualized
sounds fucking BASED to me

ya ding-dong diddly ethered that zoomer

BASED

and redpilled

If the WWE tried to be less retarded storylines but more wrestling they would lose their audience even faster, maybe if they actually had fantastic matches they would stop the bleeding but not with this shit random booking.

No well-adjusted human being like watching wrestling matches. If you are unironically invested in the "wrestling" part of wrestling, you have some deep mental issues.

1. Zoomers who weren't around for it and are angry they didn't watch it
2. Smart marks who still watch wrestling and visit wrestling forums
3. Memezer and Alvarez, two geeks who would rather watch 50 minutes of flips than a Stone Cold match

>to me
That's the point.
We LOVED it and were most likely at an age where it was the coolest hottest shit which satisfied our own raging hormones. Older wrestling fans would simply raise a brow at how "perverse" wrestling became.

It's all generational.
It's gonna happen to us if it hasnt happened already.

Well said.

Tbf most well adjusted human beings dont care for professional wrestling in general.

>watches stories for ten years olds, interrupted by ads and filler wrestling matches

So mature

They really did though. I'd much rather watch Rey Mysterio vs. Ultimo Dragon rather than Bart Gunn vs. Goldust.

The top of the card was good in WWF but the bottom of the card was awful. They even tried to mask it by putting a good match at the very beginning, low card in the middle, and a good match at the end.

the product has been absolute trash for the last 10 years and it's getting even worse these days with their sinking audience ratings.

Because there was a little bit of everything and you felt like you could cheer for anyone and still be entertained because they would besides injury usually be on every week.

>Where did this dumbass meme come from?

and it never drew a dime

Based as fuck tbqhwyfamily

Only white trash likes the attitude era still. These days, WWE is a much more sophisticated product.

That promo has a reedeming feature, they are being stiff with each other.

this is false

It wasn't on TV and neither were as known. It's dimes are in viewcounts, recognition, and spread which it has plenty of.

>Werner Herzog isn't well adjusted

ding-dong diddly

werner herzog has built his entire career on a reputation of being a quirky autistic weirdo

Sure tell a show that has larger ratings. We will see AEW on TNT that they will be lucky to get 500-600k on regular.

And Vince. Anything else is just cringe. But those three just so far ahead of anything else it makes it worth it.

American pop culture has been ruined by the homosexual agenda.

based

This is the ultimate zoomer post.

where were you when boomertude era marks got eternally ethered and BTFO

Attached: 1549731489019.png (572x572, 336K)

What I hate about the attitude era is that it pretends to be the first hardcore or edgy era. Wrestling was ALWAYS shocking and edgy. Take a look at some of the shit Sheik was doing in Detroit, what Jarrett and Lawler were doing in Memphis, or all those crazy bloody gimmick matches in Crockett's territory. Wrestlers always had attitude. Wrestlers were always badasses. There were always flamboyant wrestlers. The Attitude Era was just a repackaging of wrestling with a few really charismatic stars like Austin, Jericho and the Rock.

The thing is, now that you have an era that defined itself as shocking and edgy, any time a promotion tries to be shocking or edgy it just gets compared to the Attitude Era. Attitude Era was the culmination of 20th century wrestling. Big, rough, raw, insensitive, blunt, and working class. Nu wrestling is catered more to millennial nu males. Tame, inoffensive, overly silly, colorful, zany, random, ironic, egalitarian, and HR friendly.

its the retards that watch AEW/NXT/NuJap
They want you to think that todays wrestling is superiors to the attitude era.
youtube.com/watch?v=srhd2fZyDB4
this video promo is better than anything released today.

you realize that the current millenial audience is far more working class than the attitude era right?

Man, numales are a fucking embarassment. Go watch NJPW if you like flippy shit so much.

oh no no no no no no

wagecucking is a world beneath a working class job from back then.

Yeah, but now even wage slaves have to deal with HR, sensitivity training, and diversity training.

True. You could afford a nice house and feed 5 kids off a simple grunt factory job in the 50s and even up to the 80s and 90s.

Couldn't have explained it better

thanks republicans!

This looks like a nerd fight outside the AV Club in high school. Weak shit. A chad jock would probably just laugh or knock them all out and then kiss his gf.

Oh nvm, I didn't wait until had Billy Gunn lifts the geek up and tries to break it up. He needs help with his homework tonight.

reagan really fucked this country beyond repair it looks like

you know this nigga jacks off to Sonny Kiss, lmao.

Holy fucking wow, that was Beethoven ya simp

>Holy fucking wow, that was Beethoven ya simp

Wrong you bitch nigger.
He used an original piece on mainly Harpsichord by Jim Johnston

He switched to Beethoven's 9th sometime after he won the IC title

Completely forgot about that theme.

Oh yeah and have sex

>The amount of people that took the bait
Based user working all the marks out of their (You)s.

he probably said it to appease the zoomers

There was nothing wrong with the counters. The fucking superhero flip poses was what made it shit.
If they were teaming and taunting another tag it would be one thing, doing that in a singles match was retarded.

...

we zoomers don't watch star wars you fucking loser

I’m fucking seething bros.

Zoomers of course.

How would you like to be told you missed the Golden Age of wrestling, reply "well I can watch it online", and get the response:

>"You have to have lived the Monday Night Wars to know what it was like. That feeling when if you didn't watch wrestling, you were considered an outsider. That feeling when you go to bars and they're randomly playing wrestling ppvs on the TV. That feeling when you put two TVs next to eachother, one playing Nitro, one playing RAW, and only turn the volume up on the better segment/match. That feeling when being a prowrestling fan is like being in Heaven, everything is perfect and everyone loves you. ...That's what the Attitude Era was about."

Attached: 015.png (434x327, 55K)

Toothless aggression > everything else

Maybe the guy who realizes that the only based era of wrestling is pre 1980's era where everything has class and not an entertainment for pathetic, low class idiots like in the 90's or virgin gayboys ln the modern era. You know, the actual RESPECTABLE people with class and not someone who would unironically improve the quality of America by killing themselves

cringe, but based

I was there, lived through it. It was bad. I don’t think it comes from zoomers because how can it? They weren’t there, all they really know about is what they heard, and mostly what people always said about it was how great it was. I think where it comes from really is people who watched it and then grew up and found better wrestling outside of WWE and then compared that to what WWE was doing in the attitude era. I did that too.

What really made it great was how hot the crowds were. The wrestling bad mostly bad and so were a lot of the angles although there were a few golden angles amongst the trash. But the gimmicks were good, and the crowds were white hot. So you got a bunch of interesting looking guys who were all pretty distinct for the most part, and everything seemed way more entertaining than what it would’ve been in front of today’s crowd, because you got huge houses of hysterical people behind everything. It’s true for all wrestling that crowds like that make it better even if it’s just raw wrestling with no angle or gimmicks attached.

It depends what you value as well. I moved onto to shoot style pretty quick so promos about putting things sideways in people’s asses doesn’t connect with me and isn’t “good wrestling” to me. Some people love it and good for them I guess.

Reddit: the post

>everything I don’t like is reddit

1992 homo

>reddit spacing
really makes ya think

Why would people who like flippy shit watch a promotion with literally one one flippy guy in it when they could watch wwe shows which have way more flippy shit. wwe literally has multiple entire brands dedicated to flippy shit. That’s the entire point of nxt and 205 live and all of the wrestling is just flippy shit.

>drawing all these yous

Go back

Wow, that looked like an embarrassing youtube video from 2009. They can't be serious with this shit

Literally this

Holy shit, it really is just a bunch of skinny nerds fighting, no hyperbole here. If this is the future of wrestling, just let it die.

>watching wrestling for actual wrestling
Found the smark

Because back then everyone moved up and down the card and could put on fun to watch stuff with anyone, they were all dimes

Fucking this. Wrestling was always shit.

Right because importing 50 million fucking slave labor mexicans didn't destroy this country.

No. Fuck star wars! All of it is shit. Take ya boomer shit somewhere else.

Try 40

I started regretting being born in the mid 80's and realize that i have been living alongside idiots and failures after i see an old recording of Thesz vs Rogers

Should have let it die before idiot rednecks with iq below 50 invaded the crowds in the 1980's. Maybe we won't have any pathetic zoomers on the crowd now
