WWE got to where they were in the late 90s by copying WCW's more adult oriented content. When Bischoff held that meeting it was with a gun to his head partially because of the Time Warner merger.
Not to mention that Vince saying this is very similar to when he admonished Ted Turner for cutting in WCW. The execs at Turner bought it and banned bleeding then a week after that every other match on raw had someone bleeding and Vince called WCW kiddy shit for banning cutting.
