Worth buying or not?

Wrestle chad here. Havent played a WWE game in forever. This is on sale on the XBox store. Need to know if it's worth picking up and what your rating would be for it using the Meltzer goyim system. Much appreciated.

i play it daily its fun af

no get fire pro and simulate 5 stars matches

user hows this WWE universe mode work Ive never played this.

The create modes are good. Career Mode is ok. Universe Mode is still fun. 4/5 stars.

Is fire pro out for the xbone?

Hows the actual gameplay? Like the matches themselves

Career mode is bad with really really bad voice overs and a storyline you can see what will happen chapters ahead of when things do.

Gameplay still feels like youre underwater and the AI is trash.

Online is the only fun I have because I can frame trap morons with their 100 Overall Slipknot failures, spam weak strikes so they waste their reversals, strong grapple spam, signature, finisher, pinfall and because servers are terrible with lag they cant kick out.
I'm 32-0 online by doing this.

Fuck 2K

Wait for 2K20.

This sounds incredibly bad. Any redeeming values whatsoever?

improvement from previous versions but still slow compared to the fun SmackVsRaw series

Shit so it's one of these I input a button press and count to 5 and then it happens?

lol it’s not slow at all what kind of brokeass nigger rig are you using

not that slow but its feels like you are walking when you are supposed to be running, every match feels like a HHH match.

is the roster any good? Is NXT a separate thing?

You get so psyched out because how deep the creation suite is and with how much you can download, but then you actually play the game and it sucks. Actually, Fire Pro World is a lot like that too now that I think of it. Wrestling games suck today because wrestling itself sucks. Emulate an old Smackdown game instead. You can even play them online now with Parsec.

Fire pro for PS4/PC or if you have a 360 get 2k14 and mod the fuck out of your xbox and the game

This is what I was afriad of, because Fire Pro did this to me a couple of times plus the graphics were painful. Was hoping the gameplay matched the creation

Literally none. Unless you desperately desire to play as divas because with the DLC theres almost 30 in 2k19. But that would mean you'd be playing matches and that would be a horrible thing.

I thought I'd have fun booking shows in Universe mode but even that isn't rewarding and the menus being so lifeless makes it a drag if you play for an extended time.

No, wait until Yukes makes an actually fun wrestling game like they're planning to.

So wtf is universe mode? Like pure GM booking but no playing?

you can play and made matches but its more fun to watch how the shit happens in simulation

So i end up watching a RAW that I book basically?

basically that's why a lot of people are asking for GM mode since Universe mode is just a shit version of it. Would love to have a limited founds and to be given the option to pick a show and made it a draw on TV with the current wrestlers.

Can you make a card for like just Summer Slam and play the matches?

its like just booking your own matches, playing through them and you get to book your own rivalries and random cutscenes happen before/after matches. its coolio. sorry 4 l8 reply user. get it

Yes but that would mean playing 2k19's disgusting gameplay

>every match feels like a HHH match

sums up 2k in-ring perfectly

the game play is that slow? or unexciting? I dont like arcadey wrestling games. I like methodical. but not bland and boring

If you know how to pace a match, you can actually do it very well against AI. The problem comes when you play against spasmos online who think its fucking street fighter and cant help but spam

I think the pace and speed are just fine, the dudes complaining about it are expecting a fighting game speed like Capcom, Namco or SNK fighting games.

It feels like youre walking underwater. And the AI is trash and easily exploitable. Adjusting difficulty, even the sliders for further customization, only affects how often you are reversed. You'll never have a limb targeted over the course of a match or anything like that.

The key to winning is just having one more reversal than your opponent, thats it, you'll win. Once theyre out of reversals you can spam as many power grapple moves as you want till the bar refills.

The animations make it really wonky and glitchy, sometimes for lulz but mostly its annoying or leads to a match breaking glitch

Oh ok so it is like the classic Yuke style games. Where you can isolate limbs and have to wear a guy down to do a big move? How do moves work? Is it contextual like being in a spot will pull off a manuever? Does my guy get tired or show damage etc? Do I have a limited move set or can I like piledriver someone on command?

Is there a limited amount of reversals or is it meter based?

They average about 3 or 4 per wrestler. They recharge over time.

Limited reverals based on wrestlers stat.
Some guys like Daniel Bryan have a maxed out bar. Others that are just power guys like Kane only have 3.

So if you pick someone that has more than your opponent, so long as you're not brain dead, you've instantly won

Well can power guys power out of reversals?

Theres one attribute you can assign super heavyweights, I think its called Tank, where strikes just bounce off. However you do an animation brushing your chest that takes longer than any strike animation so its not like you can capitalize off it. Its a broken game, play firepro or the N64 AKI games

Grapples are contextually based on your position in relation to your opponent. There are separate sets of medium and strong grapples for front and back, as well as for upper, mid, and lower when your opponent is grounded. You can set whatever moves you want for each one, so if you want a piledriver you can assign it to up+x(on ps4), and then have a snap suplex for down+x, a powerbomb for right+x, and IDK, a fuckin paradise lock for left+x. You use strong grapples simply by holding x longer.

And as far as getting tired and displaying damage, when youre on your last bar of stamina, you sometimes collapse after bigger moves, or sell for longer if your health is low. Blood, sweat, and flaked facepaint are really the only visual indicators of damage

No better wrestling game exists if you want to make nearly every possible match type combination with today's WWE superstars. I've got 80hrs on the PC version just playing all kinds of matches. The only issues might be if you care about playing career mode and making a custom character there which held no interest for me since it gets repetetive only playing your own same character and I just wanted to see the badly voiced WWE character story parts between matches.

Side note to anyone who never played a wrestling game. The way it works is you try to input a move command at the right time before your opponent does to grab or hit them or whatever. Now you both end up watching the move animation happen during which time you can give no more inputs. Meanwhile, your opponent has a chance to reverse/block the move as it's happening but only if they press the reversal button at the right time, otherwise they move finishes and they lose health. Now repeat this process again and see if you or your opponent gets the next move and so on the match goes. Some moves can actually take as much as 30 seconds to complete where you're just watching the animations happen. It's not like any other fighting game which is why some people might call it slow. However, it feels really realistic especially when you get an epic 30min long match going and beat countless pins (which work on having 3 tries to break the pin at just the right moment with the timing shrinking more and more as the match progresses). It's really amazing how the game mechanics work to make a match go on as a real wrestling match would.

This isnt Yea Forums 2kshill

Is the reversal; based on one QTE thats always the same or it depends on the move? The funny thing to me is Ive never really seen this as a fighting game per se. The one time they tried to present it like that with MK like inputs and stuff I hated it

Yes on PC for the mods

That's the issue, it's realistic but it isn't fun at all.

wrong

I rather simulation because the few times it veered into MK territory it was god awful. I wilk say that something like Def Jam wasnt that bad in terms of gameplay but I feel like a wrestling game needs a methodical pace

Cronge

>Zoomers not knowing about Def Jam

HCTP was fun for wrestling fans and nonwrestling fans. Try to play 2k19 with a non wrestling fan they'll tell you to fuck off.

It's fun I enjoy it. Really wish they would bring back custom audio for entrances. But other than that the gameplay is solid and enjoyable. Its neat that even during regular versus matches "rivalry" or MITB cash ins can happen. You can disable that of course but I think it makes it fun

Who are you guys looking forward to being officially added to the roster for 2k20 or modes/match types?

This game seems to divide people. It's either you hate it outright or it's the best WWE game in awhile. Hard to decide what to do

If I remember right, the inability to play and import mp3s anymore is due to Sony, not 2K.

PS4 can't even play audio CDs.

I just want to be able to set up match rules in the fucking menu. It's fucking ridiculous that if I want a 2/3 falls match or an elimination match, I have to fucking create a custom match type.

You guys like the game though? Is it a good videogame or strictly a wrestle chad thing?

The last wrestling game I played was legitimately on the Nintendo 64.
I see wrestling games as the same as Fifa... a complete waste of fucking money, it's basically the same thing every single game just with updated graphics... it's always set in the same tiny little fucking area.

It's only fun to play if you play online and try to break the game as much as possible
twitch.tv/vgcw/clip/GentleAverageNarwhalTF2John

>The last wrestling game I played was legitimately on the Nintendo 64.
Same and I loved those Yuke games because of the fight engine. it was deep and fun. Wondering if this is the same thing because I havent played in so long I dont mind just a visual upgrade

yeah dude, it's the best wrestling game I have ever played from the freedom to make and pace a realistic match to the little detailed animations that add drama. Make a decision already. Just get the base game for $20 on hardcopy or whatever and resell it if you think it sucks. You're not gonna get any closer to what it's like for yourself from anons.

If you haven't played a wrestling game in a long time then definitely get it. If you have never played a 2K wrestling game then even more so. You'll enjoy it. A lot of people don't like 2K19 because it's a lot like previous versions, which in your case shouldn't matter. If it's on sale then you should just get it. The game isn't without it's own glitches, however, they are not completely game breaking bu if you're running a Universe mode, for example, I suggest you have a pen and paper handy because you can't rely on the game to keep track of everything for you. Don't let that dissuade you though.

A lot of people here are suggesting Fire Pro. Fire Pro is an excellent game but it takes a long time to get used to. If you're after creating exciting spots and having matches like WWE then I'd try 2K19 first. Fire Pro is a totally different beast and is great in a lot of ways. Plus it's not even out on that unless you have a PC.

It's $15 on Xbone right now so I think I might make the jump. $15 isnt a huge gamble and this isnt going to come to gamepass

I've not played the game but I've seen a lot of people saying it's a vast improvement over the previous 2K games.
I debate buying it every year but everyone keeps saying they're shit.

Helped a ton user thanks.
What is the universe mode? I keep hearing about this but never played any 2k games

It's the game's GM mode. You plan out RAW, Smackdown, 205 Live and NXT shows. You can plan everything by yourself or just let the computer run it's course, which means it'll create rivalries and fill out an entire match card with promos and matches. Unfortunately the game does create some confusing glitches with the rivalries but you can always turn them off whenever you want and take control yourself. Each wrestler has their own goals, if they complete those goals they go up the Power Rankings and get bonus attributes to make them more powerful. You can also create your own promotions too.

* should mention it's not a complete GM mode with contracts and finances. The shows also don't compete on any ratings or anything either.

Can you jump in the matches as well and take control?

I think if you start a CPU vs CPU one and decide halfway through you want to control someone you can

you make it sound fun, in reality it is just a fancy matchcard graphic.

There's not really a QTE or anything like that. It's litereally press the reversal button at the right moment to stop the move (if you have a reversal available) Each move has the right moment at a different stage of the move depending on what it is. Like, if you want to counter a spear, you have to press the reversal button at just before the moment of impact and that's it.

Purchased and will be looking to give feedback

Yeah, if you love making custom wrestlers.

Game is alright. I still boot it up and play about 5 matches before I get bored. Roster is so fucking stupid huge but a lot of it is like, Ric Flair 88, Ric Flair 91, Ric Flair 95, and it's just ric flair with slight different hairstyles.

I'd buy it used. It's worth a couple months of playthrough but it's not the most exciting thing in the world either.

So got it and played for about an hour. Wish there was a tutorial for the moves and mechanics aside from the occasional pause screen that comes up. Like a legit walkthrough would be great. maybe it's in another mode since Ive only played the 1v1 mode so far. The community content is fucking amazing and hats off to you fuckers out there putting in the work pretty dope to access to Punk or Omega or different era stars. I love the pacing and it's fun trying to get a 5 star match. The action feels good. Measured and you have to build up to certain moves to make sure they get over. I'm liking it. Probably because I havent been burnt out on other entries. I use the same idea with sports games only buying 1 or max 2 per generation. But so far Im really enjoying it. Looks great and there are a ton of options for matches so now when I get burnt on RAW or Smackdown I can just fantasy book my own shit while shit posting here

Anybody else downloaded CAWs of njpw wrestlers so you can book your own g1?

been looking for the best ones but havent gotten he hang of sorting through the search engine. Advice would be appreciated

based retard ;)

>doesn't like Def Jam
didn't know tastes this bad truly existed until now

Cody confirmed asp poster

This has been true about every 2K release. It's so life less

I agree with this dude. I don't have 19. I have 16-18. They get better as they progress each year. Buy it now, it should be pretty cheap. I never paid more than $12. I bought 3 in under two years. I'll get 19 when it hits around the same price.

Not an addition, but if by some miracle Jericho is still in this game I will buy it for the first time since 17. I don't give a shit about Deanetty though.

I've been waiting for ages.

niggers

It's on sale now on the Xbone for $15. I never get these sports games when theyre full price. I stopped doing that when they started doing yearly versions. I just get one per generation. Was worth the buy. The character creation and outfitting is fucking nuts to me. So much. Im sort of confused how I assign moves to my character. I thought I set his moveset and its defaulting back to what it was before i edited. There arent enough tutorials in this especially if its your first one in forever

Cosy is the only guy I havent downloaded. Im looking for a Darby Anus

Can anyone explain to me how I pick up a prone opponent on the ground to their feet. And also how I initiate a carry maneuver? I cant figure out how to do either. Im playing on an Xbox so Xbox inputs would be great

bump

Stand up prone opponent - press up on the right stick.
It's been a while since I've played but I think to initiate a carry, hold one of the R buttons and push a direction on the right stick when facing a standing opponent.

playit for the smark bait career mode

Oh ok so just use the right stick but press up towards your opponent. thanks man, They really need a tutorial that walks you through some of this because there are a shit ton of contextual inputs

Is it me or does the career story mode do a hilarious job at laughing and burying the indies. I can see Haitch sitting there salivating while giving ideas for this

There are three versions of him: the List Jericho, 2000s Jericho and 2010s Jericho.

It is more like a insight to Evolve

Nope.
Only on PC and PS4.

So you think BCW is really Evolve? Sorta shitting on them no?

This
They also have a AEW/NJPW version of him in the community downloads. Jeribloat verison

How do you unlock the alt versions of people?

you get vincecoins (VC) from playing matches and my career which you use to unlock new people, alt attires and arenas

Its fitting as autistic game like 2k19 would do well with asp

Career mode was trash. Plot points you could see eons ahead of time, wretched voice acting, lazy animation.

Where do I got to unlock those? Is it under Myplayer? The packs are there, but I dont see the character unloclks

Unironically asp should post their myuniverse bookings and have other people tear their ideas to shit. Smark inception

i dont remember the actual name of the menu i think it's my universe? it's one of the right most ones before settings menu

alternatively you can shell out real money to just unlock everything

Oh found it. You can unlock them by going to the 1v1 menu and selecting a locked character will take you to the "store" to unlock the ones you want. Good looking user

Why do you care about roster size when playing a match is the exact same thing every time like reversalanon said earlier in this thread?

I can’t get into the newer games. Have tried a couple but the gameplay isn’t that good and the story mode is cringe as fuck. They did improve with 2k19 but it’s still pretty bad

>nofunallowed.jpg

I like fun, but 2k19 is the exact opposite of that

I guess Im not jaded since I havent played a wrestling game in forever. I dont know why people buy yearly installations of any sports games desu. But it's fun as fuck. I got Macho Man vs Velveteen dream going at it right now, with Selina Vega as Macho's valet. Shit is cash. Fucking Dream tried to take me out on the ramp and instead I got behind vega and he drop kicked her instead. Bitch has served her purpose already. I dont know man. If you dont like it take a break from buying them maybe

I skipped 17 and 18 and this is the exact same as 16 but with a larger roster (debatable since theres like 20 cenas and HHH and daniel bryans) and even worse gameplay. I wish I was as easily pleased as you I really do, life would be a lot easier but I actually expect something decent when I pay for it

I agree, I haven't played a wrestling game since Royal Rumble on SNES and WCW/NWO Revenge on N64. I found 2k19 enjoyable.

>I wish I was as easily pleased as you I really do,
Nigga all you do is buy wrestling games. Why the fuck do you need 2 or more wrestling games in a generation? What the fuck do you expect to change? You think you're going to be able to simulate Nash being raped suddenly? Sounds to me like youre a mark for wrestling games which is ironic because it's the people that buy multiple iterations that allow them to to market one every fucking year with less and less innovation, instead of what they used to do which was release an new one every 2-3 years. The only reason youre not entertained is unironically youve burned yourself out.

If Im running universe does anyone know if I can mix NJPW rings in or set up a G1 type tournament? If so how do you set that up? anyone done that?

You can use custom arenas, or just download custom ones. There are some solid fan recreations for NJPW venues including accurate ring. Unfortunately, while there are tournaments in 2k19, you can't add them to Universe Mode. It's obnoxious and I don't understand why it's restricted that way, but if you want to hold a tournament in Universe mode, you will need to book the matches yourself and keep track of the brackets on your own. Also, the tournaments you can set up aren't that customizable. So it's more like a King of the Ring, not setup like G1

Crap. I downloaded the NJPW sets and ring and belts. Pretty fucking kino shit desu. But that nis disappointing to hear you cant set an actual round robin tourney. Can I have a NJPW show and a RAW show in universe at the same time without running separate saves for both?

cringe

Don't be so stupid. They're not comparing it to a fighting game they're comparing it to the old Smackdown's which ran at a much faster pace, fucking moron.

They need to put Enzo back in and leave Jericho in.

BB is having a "black friday in July" sale later in the week and it'll be $14.99.

It's $14.99 online now

because you play only realistic videogames right faggot? You probably play fucking weebo dating sims and jerk it to the animation
