I recommend TJPW, WAVE, Marvelous, Seaddddddddddddling, Ice Ribbon, Oz Academy. You can pluck the good Stardom matches pretty easily as well once you know who the good workers are.

Stardom is best in terms of workrate but it's not very accessible if you don't know what's going on. TJPW is best for accessibility and cute girls in colourful vivid costumes doing lots of unique gimmicks with some wrestling (and comedy) thrown in.

stardom and tjpw are two of the more popular ones both in and out of japan thanks to having streaming services that are actually worth a damn in comparison to the competition, and also y'know cute girls doing cute things

if you're the type of person who takes wrestling super seriously tho you might not like tjpw because they sometimes do goofy comedy outlaw shit like two girls screaming at each other until one of them takes a back bump, having apparently lost the epic black canary vs songbird battle of the sonic screamers (i don't have the webm handy but one of you fuckers probably does)

stardom takes the actual matches a bit more seriously (most of the time anyway--one of their very first shows had that infamous kenny omega wrestling a 9 year old girl match) but sometimes the angles they use to build matches with can get kinda goofy. for example right now tam nakano, who really likes pandas and has a little stuffed panda names p-sama she carries everywhere, just had p-sama stolen from her by sumire natsu, and yes they're unironically building towards a singles match between the two over custody of a stuffed animal by all appearances. but stardom is ALSO the home to some of the best serious women's wrestlers in the world like kagetsu and mayu iwatani, and is where kairi hojo(sane) and io shirai were working before they got signed by wwe.

Streaming service has nothing to do with their popularity in Japan, since most of their subscribers are foreigners. Their popularity in Japan is 100% "cute girls doing cute things" which is why most of their fans are older single dudes.

People are going to jump into this thread trying to prove themselves by telling you to watch some obscure fed that no one talks about. There's literally no point watching Ice Ribbon, Wave, Pure J, Diana if you actually want to discuss them with other wrestling fans.

You should watch TJPW and Stardom and maybe Gatoh Move. TJPW is about characters and in ring psychology, Stardom is about fast paced and heavy hitting wrestling. Gatoh Move is about pure work rate and a bit of comedy too.

Stardom and Sendai girls, for me are the best feds in term of workrate and storylines. I didn't watched WAVE in a long time so it might be good I don't know. Seadlinnng has good matches too, I've been an Arisa Nakajima fan for a long time but it's harder to find their shows and I usually don't have time/like motivation to watch their shows. I tried Gatoh Move and Oz, well those aren't for me. I do enjoy some classic AJW 90's shows from time to time too.

Looks like it's still isn't for me then, I only watch companies that have matches/angles I enjoy but good for Mayumi if she draws healthy crowds.

Oz has matches and angles. They usually spend a whole year building them. Having Ozaki's crew be a gang of marauding monster heels has always been a part of that story.

I'm aware thta they have matches and angles like every pro wrestling companies, it's just that I don't enjoy said matches and or angles which is why I stopped watching Oz Academy a long time ago.

easily Stardom. You have Hana, Kagetsu, Hazuki, Utami as a 'four pillars' of good pits.
Second would be Actwres Girl'Z with Miyuki Takase (freelance), and a slightly more fit Tae Honma.

Gotta say The D might be the best quality league right now. Nanae makes good use of outside talent like from MARVELOUS, Gatoh Move and AgZ. Their High Speed matches are great and BTFO Stardom's. And their main event are as good or better than what you'll see from Stardom or Sendai.
