It's a fair question and I'll answer it honestly because I am not a New Japan fanboy that thinks everything they do is flawless. New Japan has this weird mentality where they are booking a round robin tournament and they want to make it competitive, so they need to have people acting as "spoilers" for the big stars that end up falling short. These are the kinds of guys that basically would never win in a regular 1 on 1 match on a big PPV but are not remotely surprising if they win at the G1 against someone to cut them short.
The good kind of spoilers are guys like Ishii, the choppa manlet that is tough as nails and kayfabe has the most endurance to last in the tournament all the way through, always giving his best in every match. Toru Yano is also a good spoiler because he's kayfabe the dirtiest player in the game. He's the best at being a cheater and doing bullshit and a story New Japan often uses is "Someone tries to out-bullshit Yano out of frustration and loses in the process"
But you also have the bad spoilers like Bad Luck Fale, where the mentality ends up being "He's a tall strong man, so whatever". Which results in you having these big main event stars winning almost every single match and then having a retarded loss to a boring slow fat man in the middle.
