A junior isnt beating the IWGP heavyweight champion. Zack is beating okada and getting that match
Mason Ross
is there any chance it's anything other than Ibushi vs. White or Ibushi vs. Naito in the end?
Kevin Howard
I guess there's a "slim" chance Kenta goes all the way to the end, but I think by him beating Ibushi, they of course set up their briefcase match, and I doubt they'd want Kenta against like "Bad Luck Fale" at KOPW
David Nelson
>my personal favorite SANADA v Naito >most likely Ibushi v White >I want to get off Gedo's wild ride Okada v Naito >what the fuck Ishii v KENTA >no for real what the fuck Ospreay v Shingo
Juan Hill
If KENTA wanted to look like a star he should have lost the chunk and not put on a 205 live match.
James Mitchell
Screencap it.
Ryan Bennett
Shingo is gonna crush B block right bros? We're not supposed to be satisfied with just this BSJ performance right?
Jaxson Moore
>SANADA v Naito I kinda like this one, cause say in the event Naito does come on to be the first dual champ (if they don't do this what the fuck has the last two years even been for), then it's a ready made feud right out of the gate. I do wonder what the state of LIJ will be in 2020 though.
>Winning against Naito and losing to Jobber Yano gtfo
Charles Brown
I really want an A-Block tie between two or more wrestlers and have them fight for the right to go against whoever wins B-Block.
David Cruz
This your first G1, kid?
Josiah Thomas
If Shingo jobs to Ambrose, I'm out
Aiden Richardson
/ourblade/ is gonna take it home, and you're just going to have to breathe with it.
Sebastian Hernandez
I definitely see him beating Okada in the tournament, maybe even tapping him out for the shock and bragging rights, but I'm not sure he's winning the title at Royal Quest.
I want Naito to have both belts, going complete fantasy booking though I would want ishii. Most likely Okada is going to be the first champion to win the G1.
Tetsuya Naito will never be the top guy, no matter how many t-shirts he sells. Tetsuya Naito will never be the top guy, no matter how many polls his fans overload with votes. Tetsuya Naito will never be the top guy, no matter how many MVP awards he wins. Finally, Tetsuya Naito will never win a Tokyo Sports Best Bout.
Jose Price
>Ibushi v Naito finals >Ibushi wins >Naito somehow ends up with in briefcase match and wins >Okada taunts them both >Ibushi v Okada v Naito triple threat for first double champ at the dome night 2 How hard you mark?
Cooper Jones
new japan doesnt do triple threats, go back to watching roman reigns matches you fucking dweeb
Adrian Barnes
They want to pretend he is a Jr, then he should job like a Jr.
I completely agree but I am persoanlly betting on a Naito G1 win and having both belts at the Dome. I'm a far cry from a Naito guy but giving Naito the 1 clean win over Okada will silence the LIJ marks forever. Plus, it will create some interesting scenarios and potentially fresh match ups for both the IC and main belt.
Lincoln Torres
I wish I could forget the Kenny/Kota/Cody triple threat too.
Austin Reyes
A great match.
Oliver Reyes
Cody is what kinda dragged Kenny's reign down for me. They should've resolved the "I'M REALLY BULLET CLUB LEADER REEE" before he got the belt.
Angel Murphy
I might have enjoyed it in a vacuum but everything around it dragged it down. Cody just gets a title shot because he asked and it would have been better without him. Plus Yano earns a shot and gets completely forgotten.
Jason Young
The original Ingobernables creed was like that, actually. They aren't in for the win or prove they're the best because they know they are the best and have won before... they're in to have deadly matches and make suffer their rivals.
Chase Gutierrez
>A junior isnt beating the IWGP heavyweight champion >Zack is beating okada and getting that match >ZSJ: 85kg >Ospreay: 86kg prior to bulking up >IWGP Heavyweight: 100kg
The fuck are you on about?
Alexander Baker
I want to see Ishii v KENTA. Not at the G1 finals, but at some point.
Levi Phillips
I think Royal Quest is made just for Ospreay, and no one will be mad when Okada beats him because he's kinda over with people who would go to a NJPW show.
Isaiah Ross
ZSJ is classified as a heavyweight. Ospreay is classified as a junior heavyweight. Is this really hard for you to grasp?
Ethan Gutierrez
I don't think Ospreay is going to beat Okada (but I could see them booking a draw to mar an otherwise perfect Okada record and set up Okada as a gatekeeper for when Ospreay is at weight and has dropped the Jr belt), I just don't understand how Ospreay can't beat Okada BECAUSE he's a Jr but ZSJ can despite being clearly smaller.
Ethan Clark
It is when Ospreay was heavier than ZSJ before he bulked. I mean, Sabre is a fucking joke in general, but trying to sell him as a heavyweight only works if you're in a promotion full of guys under 100kg and you squint a little because he's the only real star you have. He has no business being in the IWGP heavyweight discussion. He's a Jr, especially in a G1 where you have Ospreay and Shingo both pretending to be Jrs.
Niggas who are who they are and G1 won't change anything >Jeff Cobb >Hirooki Goto >Tomohiro Ishii >Taichi >Hiroshi Tanahashi
Niggas who need a good G1 to prove something, move up the card or solidify a top spot >Kenta >Sanada >Jon Moxley >Juice Robinson >Kota Ibushi >Shingo Takagi >Jay White
Niggas who are doing fine and probably getting tabled to let others shine >Tetsuya Naito >Will Ospreay >Zack Sabre Jr.
Niggas who are Okada >Kazuchika Okada
Brandon Adams
No one cares about your opinion on the weight classes.
Thomas Murphy
So what makes ZSJ a heavyweight if weight isn't important?
Fine, so explain it to me like I'm retarded. Explain to me why, in a 100kg+ weight class, an 85kg guy qualifies while an 86kg guy doesn't.
Jayden Parker
Just once I want to see Yano mist his curry. I want see him take a win off Archer doing it.
Camden Davis
>Jobber Yano How new are you?
William Roberts
His official weight designation by the promotion is heavyweight, regardless of how ridiculous you might think that is. Try being objective instead of needlessly injecting your personal opinion into the conversation.
Jack Smith
What i honestly think is going to happen is Ospreay vs Naito (Kota and Okada go to a draw)with Naito going over tho i want Kota vs Jay
Zachary Bailey
he's not. he fights up since his style drains heavyweights while he can't catch juniors (thats the kayfabe reason)
Jace Wright
It doesn't matter how often he drags out the sad little English indy title, ZSJ will never be a heavyweight and he'll never get an IWGP heavyweight title shot except to be fed to someone. Guy is a waif. More importantly, he's under 100kg.
William Thomas
I got Naito winning but what I want most this G1 is more Jay White singles match kino. He is great when he has a month or two to build but his story telling style is less effective when he has a couple matches a week. Ishii is gonna the key match up for him in this regard since he had 3 straight amazing no-build matches in the NJC this year.
>It doesn't matter how often he drags out the sad little English indy title, ZSJ will never be a heavyweight and he'll never get an IWGP heavyweight title shot except to be fed to someone Good thing thats exactly what will happen at Royal Quest then when he faces Okada
>Okada becomes first champ to ever win the g1 >chooses naito as his opponent for wk and loses would it be based?
Carson Barnes
>Okada becomes first champ to ever win the g1 *third champ
Dominic Jackson
Who are the others? Also at what point does new japan acknowledge the start of the G1 tournament? Looking at the wiki for G1 it shows Inoki winning 10 of them, but I recall commentary saying that Chono had won the most with 5 and Inoki having only won 4. So do they consider the first tournament the international wrestling grand prix in 1983 and not acknowledge the older tournaments?
Brody Ward
Muto in 1995 and Sasaki in 2000 there was no "Tokyo dome ticket" back then
>Also at what point does new japan acknowledge the start of the G1 tournament? 1991
Jacob Anderson
In a steel cage
Liam Jenkins
I'm NEET and don't have time to keep up every day and end up with a huge backlog.
Connor Ward
Reign NEEET means you have time, dipshit
David Wright
Based One Piece villain... although here he's looking a lot like will.i.am.
Nathan Williams
Ibushi vs White finals, Ibushi wins
Robert Parker
Where are my SANADA boys at?
Landon Russell
buried in the midcard
Jeremiah Martin

Benjamin Fisher
I don't know who's gonna win the block but Lance Archer is gonna beat Okada to set up a 5 stars title match, screencap this.
Tyler Ross
>Who's going to win A-Block and also, who's going to beat Okada in order to get a title shot later in the year?
Ibushi and I'm taking the outside bet of ZSJ so they can have Okada/ZSJ for the IWGP headline Royal Quest.
Michael King
Already been through this, Naito will win G1, he will successfully defend his title at night 1 of Wrestle Kingdom and then lose to Okada at night 2 where the story will be, "if Naito didn't have that big match the night before, he could've won"
Jackson Moore
Holy BASED I'm breathing with the switchblade throughout this tournament for sure
Anthony Diaz
I want Switchblade to breathe into my open mouth as he rapes me to death
Ryan Gonzalez
That would mean that Shingo will win the G1. The winner is from B-block this year.
Elijah Price
>Fale over EVIL FUCK THIS COMPANY
Levi Collins
Based Gedo, but i think the time is coming close for Okada to face his succesor (probably in 2 more years)
John Thompson
When is day two?
Aaron Campbell
Saturday, day 3 is Sunday and day 4 is Monday.
Aaron Harris
Thanks user
Caleb Baker
One last run for the Ace of the Universe.
Josiah Ross
At this point the only thing that holds Tana in one piece is LOVE and HIGH ENERGY. He's totally in the dad zone.
Sebastian Russell
I don't watch much njpw. Any nujapanlet want to explain to me the logic behind why the champion is in the tourney to decide the no. 1 contender?
Carter Bailey
If the champion wins he picks his challenger. Has only happened twice, with the most recent being in 2000, but it may happen this year.
Gavin Howard
I don't want to have more of "Naito wins only to lose again" all over again...
Christian Stewart
Naito must suffer
Henry James
G1 is to determine the best so the champ is there to prove that he is the best.
Isaac Mitchell
It's not even the first time ZSJ has challenged Okada for that belt.
Dylan Morales
It'll kill Naito stone dead if he challenges Okada and loses again.
Yes. Why? Don't you enjoy watching TV shows and trying to solve stories within confines of said TV show? That's the point of TV show, user.
Camden Howard
This seems like sporting analysts trying to predict who is going to win/lose and qualify.
Blake Myers
Yes, because G1 is presented as very simple tournament. There is not many storylines fucking it up. Although there were last year, when all Bullet Club guys were getting DQed after cheating. If you take that example out, it is just like any other real sports tournament. Thanks to that you don't have to fantasy book angles including someone's forgotten son or someone cheating on someone's wife. You just have a month of wrestling matches and you try to solve the riddle by using consistent power level of NJPW wrestlers and their tiers. So you know who is the best, who is the worst, you can try to think off upsets, who will draw with whom, who will beat whom. So after all that, trying to predict and book G1 tournament is lot of fun, because it provides stories for the rest of the year (someone beats a champion in G1, so they will usually get a title shot in the fall and so on).
Joshua Brooks
Sounds pretty autistic but each to their own. I'd like my wrestling to have more substance than just to see who will fight for the belt.
Camden Barnes
This The challenger part is secondary. Someone who wins G1 is almost as important as IWGP HW champion. The belt/trophy has been kind of a shelved to make more important WK title shot, because 1/4 show is much more important than it was.
Ryder Gonzalez
The thing is that if you follow stories of particular performers, there is also that other part. For example Juice last year had broken hand and was loosing matches left and right. This year he cut his hair and tries to change himself from fun wrestler to upper card champion. And he will use whole G1 as preparation towards his rematch with Jon Moxley at final night of block action at Budokan. He needs to grow, he needs to change, to be able to beat ghost of his past. And if he is able to beat him? He will get a title match against Moxley and will win the US belt back from him.
Bentley Peterson
Why? Not enough cuck storylines for ya?
Nathaniel Smith
There is UFC if I want to see guys just fight and try to win belts. Thats part of it but not everything.
Austin Powell
The thing is that UFC just cannot give you real good matches every time. Because they either do not have right opponents or something else. If you watch NJPW like UFC, but with the promise from booker that he will try to give you as interesting matchups as possible, it is really, really good. And it allows us to fantasy book a month long tournament with 100 matches. What is there not to like?
Lucas Clark
Well I dont just watch cold wrestling matches ONLY for the "great matches" . I need story, drama, comedy, romance, hatred, betrayal, everything that can be used in the wrestling world to make it compelling.
Thomas Clark
> need story, drama, comedy, romance, hatred, betrayal You get all of that (aside from romance) since people in NJPW don't forget. so everyone has a story with each other
Christian Harris
like what said, you can get all of that. it's just not delivered explicitly as part of the "product" to you. and then there's also the individual storylines as mentioned in other replies. and then there's the overarching story of a bunch of guys trying to thrive or just survive in a competitive environment. but honestly, if you don't "get" it, there's no point in trying to persuade you into liking it. most people lead perfectly happy lives without any kind of NJPW involved.
Tyler Hughes
The thing is, as other anons already said, those all things are in NJPW. It's just pretty important, if you want that to not just jump in and watch one hyped match. You won't get those things you want of course, if you only watch the match. You will get commentary talking about those other things, you will get spots in a match recalling these things. Sometime you get some run in or something like that. You will get your wrestling tropes as well. But in the end, you have just watched a match. You have to watch promos for these matches to get the rest out of the things you want.
Brandon Robinson
Shibata killed Naito but lost to Yano in like a minute during the G1 26. Yano also has victories over Tanahashi and Omega. The point being, Yano is a God.
Samuel Davis
Loved it when the cheeky fuck tied Juice's dreads up in the crowd railings to try and get him counted out.
No but he's gonna keep having the best tournament in match quality
Evan Howard
You will be cheering him on, like you do every year and like every year he will not win, but you will be very happy, because his matches will be the best.
>Who's going to win A-Block ibushi >who's going to beat Okada in order to get a title shot later in the year? ibushi and ZSJ. maybe kenta too (ibushi's may be a time limit draw)
Isaac Myers
most likely is ibushi v naito
Jacob Jenkins
i think Ospreay or Tana makes the finals and Kota and Okada go to a draw and thats the start to Okada vs Kota in the dome in 2021
Ian Young
i thought tana might win a-block until he straight up lost to okada can't see it being ospreay
Evan Roberts
>i think Ospreay no too soon, user. Trust me on that >Tana Ospreay spoils him in Budokan. That will be Ospreay's big win. Beating Tanahashi in Budokan. It won't matter that he wil get like 4 points in total. If he beats Tana on final night? That will be more than enough. Last 3 nights are the most important.
can't see any reason for that to be a draw or go the full 30
Nathan Clark
Ospreay is also beating Okada for Royal Quest You are all sleeping on him he's gonna go on a tare just you wait
Kevin Miller
SANADA cannot beat Okada yet. But he has been coming closer and closer to beating him. It is in Osaka as well, I think or SANADA's home prefecture even. If he draws with Okada, he will send crowd home happy. It will be seen as a victory, but he still would not have beaten him. Next year, they won't meet this year in singles again, he is beating him in something. And Okada cannot beat him under 30. That would be a mistake and they have build SANADA well enough not to do that mistake and undo all the work they have put into him.
Mason Cruz
The story has been Sanada can never beat Okada it's the last match of the night,No one wants Okada vs Sanada 4 this year, going to a draw will show he's getting better
Nathan Anderson
>Ospreay is also beating Okada for Royal Quest nah. That would be a huge mistake. Unless they are willing to go all in and make him "one of the four" by next year's Dominion. I do not think so. I think next year G1 will be Ospreay's year where he almost gets to finals and beats some bigger champs. But not yet.
Alexander Richardson
It would be a mistake not to. He's hot right now. Don't ROH this shit.
Easton Green
You are talking about promotion that gave Naito no-defense run and that did not finish his story in his first main event at the Tokyo Dome. Also remember they had Ospreay for a year and did nothing with him, they hid him in multimans.
