I watched the G1 on Saturday and I want to watch more. What is some basic knowledge and background information I should know before I jump in?

More on NJPW
this reads 1:1 like a reddit thread
there are stables
good guys bad guys
What does the one on the right say?
Also, are all of the wrestlers part of a faction? Are there any faction wars?
it's wrestling man just watch it and cheer for ishii
far right is Suzuki-gun, led by Minoru Suzuki
far left basically isn't a faction, called sekigun, which is the leftovers or factionless - the idea is that they fight for the honor of NJPW - but most everybody is in a faction
the factions are constantly fighting
Thats sounds exciting

The English commentary team is very good at giving you the story of any match, that's really the only benefit they provide over the Japanese commentary booth. Just watch the G1 and ask specific questions in the threads when they come up.
I started to give a quick rundown of all the wrestlers right now and what to watch for, but I couldn't be arsed. instead I'll answer
Main Unit, CHAOS, LIJ, Bullet Club, Suzuki Gun.
Main Unit is really a lack of a stable, a lot of generic babyfaces reside here.
Chaos is the biggest babyface stable that is really a stable. Used to be the biggest heel stable and some of those threads have maintained, but even those have mellowed over the years.
LIJ is a tweener stable. these guys are dead loyal to Naito, the leader. they mostly want to prove they're the best, but do not shy away from underhanded tactics if the opportunity presents itself.
Bullet Club is the evil gaijin stable. currently run by the number one heel in the company, Jay White.
Suzuki-Gun (Suzuki Army) is essentially an evil gaijin stable made up mostly of Japanese. a lot of them promo like delusional anime villains, which may or may not be your thing. zero redeeming qualities, just there to get the crowd mad.
>the number one heel in the company, Jay White
wrong
ZSJ and Taichi are

Whats wrong with that?
>Taichi
The People have really gotten behind him in his crawl up the heavyweight ladder
Who is Taichi?
Guide to G1
>lock up
>transition into sideheadlock
>sometimes even a test of strength spot if lucky
>Usually it's sideheadlock, push into ropes and guy coming off rope shoulder tackle, run the ropes and leaps over guy on the ground, guy on the ground leaps up and guy coming off ropes gets arm dragged
>does signature pose to hype the crowd
>end of 1st act
>meddle some more for 5-10 mins of restless and mindless stalling segments
>suddenly takes it to the floor outside the ring
>brawl and fuck around
>if it's an Okada match,fly over barricade
>if its Moxley match,use a weapons
>if it's Yano match, ducktape your hands to the railings
>yada yada yada OH SHIT REF COUNTS 19
>Rolls back into ring miraculously
>SAFE NO COUNTO OUTO
>end of 2nd act

>2.9999999
>LE SHOCK FACE
>I WILL FINISH HIM WITH MY RUNNING LARIATOOO THIS TIME IT WILL WORKU
>Groggy opponent burst into full stamina with out of nowhere counter attack
>If it's Okada, a dropkick
>If it's Osprey, a rollover sitout powerbomb
>If it's Shingo, choppa me choppa you until i go under your choppa and Made in Japan you
>If it's Ibushi, a leaping stomp onto you
>Goes for finisher
>will never be successful on first try, gets countered with another reverse rana

>LE SHOCK FACE
>tries again, this time groggy opponent miraculously hits another counter
>CHANCESU CHANCESU CHANCESU
>hits finisher
>if lucky, sometimes might kick out and you get 2nd finisher
>1..2...3
>end of 3rd act
>end of match
>Mom! I posted it again.
>worked and seething
Bear in mind the two on the left are basically one faction after merging last year.
Nice Copypasta
Nice to see you ripped off the OVW how to train wrestlers guide to Working.
Context?
Yeah those are the parts I like.
all you need to know is that BIG CHOPPAS Ishii has the body of a fridge and he is the stone pitbull who will bite u
the one who wears the mask and has a cute valet
Whats his gimmick?
Taichi is one of the midcarder heavyweights for Suzuki-gun, he's the master of working Meltzer and Meltzer-drones.He was honestly pretty bad as a junior and he was always on the end of bad booking. But since going heavyweight he's been putting on fucking great matches and you can tell he was always meant to be a heavyweight. He's had a pretty simple story of becoming a better wrestler slowly since moving up and in his rivalry with Ishii he's been forced to not cheat and fight fair since they used to be friends
Japanese Dracula
Biggest chicken shit heel. he feels the company has always over looked him (and they have) for shit like the new shiny gaijin. he hates Harold
And in japan where it's notorious for its workhorse culture with long, monotonous work days and people not moving up or down the ladder.
He's also a really shitty Kpop idol
Imagine being this obsessed with other peoples interests.
chickenshit heel and thinks he is the best thing in NJPW. but since he moved to heavyweight, try to lessen the heel moves

They started working together since The 2 reasons they hated each other was Tana vs Okada and Yano backstabbing Makabe like 10 years ago. Okada and Tana were forced to team up to fight Jay and Yano and Makabe made up
