I honestly dont see them as WWE 2.0 or WCW 2.0, i see them more as a bigger indy fed, kinda like the western NJPW in terms of style. I dont think they want to cater to the casual masses like wwe does. So i think they will be happy with moderate ratings and a hardcore fanbase.

I'm in the minority with this but I don't think AEW's biggest worry should be WWE, it should be MLW. With each taping they seem to be getting a budget increase with more butts in seats, and they're doing more tours and doing more live broadcasts. The only thing holding them back is television exposure since beIN Sports is a premium channel and their content does not air on basic cable or streaming services.
I hope they have a warning message at the start of the show telling people that wrestling is fake and not to worry about the safety of the performers and also the heels don't really intend to be mean

At this point it's pretty clear that they're just going to be TNA 2.0 unless they listen to the criticism and change. They were promising a more serious and athletic product and from everything we've seen so far they're just WWE but with extra flips.
