I really liked the match.

It was hard-hitting thus different from all the other matches and it flew by time-wise. They both clearly weren't going all out yet and still had an entertaining match.

This,it was the second best match of the night,granted Ibushi kinda carried it.

It was awful. It was a Kenta controlled matche despite the fact that everyone knows Kota is 10 times the wrestler is today, and this was always a problem with Kenta and he got exposed hard in his GHC Heaveweight title reign, he's bad at constructing a match. Apart from that, it felt like a WWE match at times, lots of playing to the crowd and stalling, slow, Kenta's kicks were awful throughout the match and he botched the kick when Kota launched himself to the outside and the finish. It was the worst match of the night by far. It was a bad match.

That's because all Kenta wants to do is shoot kick people and call it "innovative". He's boring as fuck that's why he cant build a match. And the fucking GTS is one of the worse finishers ever. The arm injury fucked him forever and he can't even lift it up past a certain angle, how the fuck can anyone wrestle with only one good functioning arm, and with a finisher that needs to hoist someup up to his shoulder, then later elevate him off to get momentum to come down when taking the G2S. That's one of the reason why he stopped doing it after awhile. Should really contemplate life post retirement.

That's not it, he just refuses to change and adapt to old age and injuries. His flying clothesline for example looks like shit but he still does it every match and I don't see why, there's absolutely no reason for him to still go to the top rope for moves, he was never much of a high flyer and he's not young anymore. He's bad because he's not an intelligent and versatile wrestler on top of his injuries and age catching up with him.

He was already complaining post match that his shoulder hurt again. This fucker is going to get injured before the end of this tournament or he's going to look like shit. If not both. He got hyped in NOAH because all he was doing was kicking people hard it's fucking stupid. And I agree why use a finisher you can't do effectively because you're injured. Nvm that even with 2 healthy arms it's still a shitty finisher that only seems good if the guy you're hoisting is your size or smaller.

And Ospreay has diversified this year by doing more ground work. Like the other user said he's adapting so that his move set can at least age well and he puts less toll on his body. And the guy is what 26? KENTA literally cant work a match unless he is just kicking the shit out of his opponent. Thats all he wants to do.

There were parts in the match where I thought Ibushi was trying to make him look bad like with that snapmare and how he blocked the GTS with his arms.

KENTA was great. He's not 100% his old self, you can see he's actually mixed in some of that WWE style into his old persona.

Remarkably it was Ibushi who was a bit off, which you can almost never say. It was still a great match with memorable spots and did a lot to put KENTA back on the map.

Absolutely, it was great. That was my point, he's taken much of the old KENTA and updated it with stuff learned in America. It's a good style as his body degrades and he can't work the old fast pace, getting more of a reaction doing less. It gave the match a very unique feel, I'm even more hype for KENTA vs ACE now.

KENTA's best matches are going to be him working from beneath against guys like Fale and Archer. He's always been mediocre at best when it comes to controlling matches. The match against Ibushi wasn't terrible, maybe ***3/4 to ****, which is a big deal compared to what he's been doing for the last few years.
It's perhaps too bad that NJPW doesn't have an old tough vet like Tenryu, Takayama, Kobashi, or Misawa whom KENTA can really shine against. Maybe Suzuki and Nagata but KENTA's already faced them before.
