If FOX gets its wish, WWE will soon bring back President Donald Trump.
SmackDown will move from the USA Network to FOX in October, and according to a report from freelance reporter Tom Colohue (h/t Sportskeeda), "One particularly bold request that FOX has made has been to request an appearance from WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump on the first SmackDown Live on FOX TV." The report adds that "it is believed that a deal can be struck for an appearance:"
"Starting with a number of internal e-mails and communications, FOX staff floated the idea of approaching WWE and Donald Trump about making a brief appearance on SmackDown Live...At this time there is no evidence that Trump himself has been approached, though FOX staff seem confident that both WWE and the President will 'understand the potential benefits to all parties.' However, at least one member of the WWE creative team has been approached about this concept. "
Tom Colohue The connections between Trump and the McMahon family are well-known. As Colohue notes, "From February 2017 until April 2019, Linda McMahon would serve under President Trump as the Administrator of the Small Business Administration." FORBES also reported in 2017 that WWE was the Trump Foundation's biggest donor, making even more contributions to the program than Trump himself and almost single-handedly keeping it afloat: "According to the Form 990 filed by the Trump Foundation in 2007, the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) gave 114 times as much to the foundation as Trump did himself."
