AJ is a better wrestler with a wider language of wrestling, and is capable of having better matches than Omega. But he doesn't. That's the conundrum with AJ Styles. Everything is some gay X Division match or a watered down version of it but you know he's capable of having the best match in history, but you'll never get to see it. He's like some redneck 30yo boomer idiot savant of pro wrestling who can't control it and every now and then it just sprays out of him randomly when it gets triggered by a guy like Low Ki or Danielson, but the rest of the time he's just some random flippy shitter.

Omega is just more consistent so do you rank the guy with the most potential for the best match or the guy who just has better matches more frequently.

When it comes to the mental game, laying out a match with a strong narrative structure, drawing in the crowd, Omeger has AJ Styles beat. Easy. Yeah 100% if Danielson was given the ace of any promotion to work with for 60 minutes and complete freedom to do whatever he wanted in the match, and he was only going to work 5 matches per month, for sure all of his matches would be AT LEAST as good as Omega's.

But the top of the card in NJPW and the middle of the card in WWE are such different environments that they're basically not even working in the same business.

I haven’t watched a ton of Omega, just AEW and All In and a few odd New Japan matches. He’s athletic but his matches just never feel organic to me. He always just seems like he’s showing off for 20-30 minutes. I never believe what he’s doing the way I can for Daniel Bryan or AJ. I can just never suspend my disbelief even if he pulls off some physically impressive feats. I like heroes, villains, angles, and storytelling and Omega seems more interested in constantly doing something spectacular in the ring. The thing is, if every thing spectacular, nothing is spectacular. So I prefer AJ. Though a lot of that is sentimental cause I’ve been watching AJ for 15 years and he just has been getting better with age.

There’s nothing compelling about a match where you do a bunch of cool moves. Nothing beats a good story. Bryan tells a story in every match he’s in. Every movement serves a larger purpose being just looking cool or being physically impressive. If Omega’s your thing I’m not saying you’re wrong I’m just saying from what I’ve seen Kenny and the Young Bucks don’t do the type of wrestling I’m interested in. If it makes you feel any better most people in WWE don’t do the type of wrestling I’m interested in either which is why I don’t watch it any more.
