Eniferum is a great folk band. Stay away from Unsung Heroes.
Amon Amarth is average melodic death for people who can’t figure out what’s good Melodic death.
Children of Bodom was great but not consistent. Listen to Kalmah instead.
Behemoth is ok. Listen to Vader if you want crushing death metal.
Korpiklaani and Alestorm are ok in small douses.
Sabatons garbage.
Powerwolf is decent.
Kerator is excellent but Sodom is better.
Eluveitie is a good intro band to folk metal.
Tyr is fantastic but their new stuff is pretty boring.
Arkona is a great folk metal band the vocalist sucks. Try Dalriada for a good female folk singer.

I think it makes sense for this gimmick. He's an eco-friendly/activist and power metal/folk metal are highly related with nature/the planet.

Persuader or Falconer are either too slow and/or boring or just have songs where the drums are banging and banging while a guy sings over them, totally unrelated to any tune or melody.

Nah Ive been to music festivals with like 40 bands and shit all day, and literally every death metal guy was either dangerously underweight or ridiculously overweight. The crusierweights had long hair and the obeseweights had equally long beards. Both smelled equally bad
