Is there a secret to skating fast?
Fear causes speed wobbles.
Sounds EDGY but it's true. when you're afraid of the hill and you don't want to go any faster the tendency is to lean back a little. Which takes weight off your front truck causing them to bounce around and buck you off.
I'm actually pretty okay on downhills. Meant more of an all round increase in speed when you skate. I suddenly suck if I skate faster
not him but if you’re having trouble skating obstacles fast you’re probably popping too late. Your feet dont have as much time to go up before hitting the obstacle so you pop earlier.

not the user you're respodning to but, go at times where the park isn't packed and fon't hog the bowl ever. Holy shit it bugs me to no end when someone stays in the bowl forever learning to kick turn 4 inches into the transition, or worse go to the flat and practice ollies. Beginners have the notion that other people are fine just steering around them, and this mentality persists until someone (hopefully politely) corrects them.
I had a roll that took me out for a month, maybe more, and I was limping everywhere. For the first few days, double-sock that foot if the mouth of your shoe is big enough, and keep weight off it. As the pain decreases, use the ankle but don't overexert it. You want to break up the scar tissue, but definiteley don't strain the tendons while they're still torn up. Icepacks when resting are good too.
It's one of those shitty injuries like broken ribs where treatment options are slim. Even if your ankle is broken (yours just looks strained/sprained), unless the break is so bad it requires screws then the only treatment is immobilization and rest.
In the future, stretch. Do some light skating to warm up, then stretch the ankles, then get into the session.
Beginner here. What are some good ways to practice balance? I've been skating for a couple of weeks and today I ate shit trying to go down a ramp and I can barely kickturn. Any tips?
