What in-ring style appeals to you the most?
What in-ring style appeals to you the most?
Stabbing
youtu.be
Gritty technical wrestling mixed with gritty brawling/striking and all of it worked in a believable manner with a few bombs mixed in.
Kevin Nash's shitty and bloodied ring, 1992 style.
choppas and neck bumps
Punishment style is the best style easily.
this with the rare shoot headbutt
brawling
what stadium is that?
>Puroresu
Well I'm not a simp who likes watching the same match over again cause mah fightin spirit
>Deathmatches
I'm not an Estrogen chugging numale
>Lucha Libre
I'm not retarded
>Flippy shit
I'm not a redditor
>Sports Entertainment
Mmmm, now that's the good stuff
>be Jumbo
>be a good wrestler, but nothing special
>fastforward 15 years later
>finally hit your prime and become the best wrestler in your promotion and one of the best in the world
>Baba decides to push new talent and tells you to put them over
>you do because you're not a selfish faggot
>then get struck down by hepatitis and forced to open cards in comedy matches
>do this for a few years and eventually say fuck it and retire
>die a year later from cancer caused by your hepatitis
Just wasn't fair, bros. Imagine Jumbo if he had stayed healthy having those classic King's Road matches with the Four Pillars.
It's the Tokyo Dome. Looks pretty cool with the lights on, right?
mostly choppa with the occasional suplex or powerbomb
I can deal with flippy shit if it isn't too egregious or obviously coordinated
I pretty strongly dislike ringside brawling, especially in view of the ref
Jumbo was actually very special because he invented the pro wrestling we see today. Not many people know this, but before Jumbo AJPW matches were almost entirely on the mat, with some throws. Jumbo brought wrestling up off the mat, made it more dynamic, running around, striking, throwing combinations of throws, taunting or playing directly to the audience, etc. He basically brought all of that to AJPW and made it popular, which which also influenced wrestling in America heavily, which was in an in between Staten between what Jumbo was doing and what the other guys were doing working more mat based matches.
So aside from amazing psychology he also brought huge work rate and changed the whole business. That’s why he’s a top 5 GOAT even aside from his five star matches.
WWE main event style
Riki Choshu was the one who actually spurred All Japan to work a faster and harder style on the feet. He jumped ship in the early 80s and wrestled like his ass was on fire and everyone who worked with him had to keep up which included Jumbo. Riki left 5 or so years later, but he left behind that hectic work rate style which Jumbo and Tenryu ended up evolving together. Then came the 90s and the Pillars took the same style and evolved it even further into the King's Road.
Current NJPW is pretty damn close. Having a prime Benoit or Angle in a current G1 would be a godsend. A touch more showmanship here ans there wouldn't hurt either, but so would another guy like Ishii or even an Akiyama woyld be cool too.
Jumbo did this in the early 70s tho
Stiff strikes, crisp mat wrestling, sporadic but dynamic suplexes/powerbombs and blood
Brawling/hardcore
No he did not. How Jumbo wrestled in the 70s was no different from how everyone else wrestled. It wasn't until Choshu showed up that All Japan abandoned mat-wrestling and started working a harder, faster style on the feet. BUT Jumbo did take what Choshu brought and with Tenryu evolved it into the style that would eventually become King's Road.
Post examples of the style you like: here's mine Benoit vs Finlay

Bra and panties

80s NWA style
Shibata/Ishii/Suzuki
More traditional rules, no pointed kicks, punches etc. Stuff that is easy to break and gives somebody an opportunity to really sell.
Puroresu is fun since it sticks closer to traditional rules and I love me some choppas and suplexes though I do enjoy the in ring movement but it can be too flippy and the no sell shit is bullshit.
This is make believe wolfcuck. You are mentally unwell. Stop trying to rewrite history.

HUGE OILED UP MEN WHO DREW BIG ARE THE BEST
Fucking nu japanlet nufag zoomer reading Wikipedia and talking like he knows his shit lmao

Samefag.
are you baiting I can't tell
kek what a bitch
t. never watched Jumbo vs Terry Funk, Jumbo vs Jack Brisco or Jumbo vs Billy Robinson
Striking/brawling
For me, it's kick punch matches the ultimate pleb filter
Benoit and Angle were so fucking smooth back in the day. All my favorite matches have them in it, and it's even better when they face each other of course.
That said, that perfect mix of technical and mat wrestling is my "thing" (but I suppose technical if I can only pick one).
This for me. Bret and Kurt are my GOATs
>Neck bump on a kick
Why
t. retarded samefag who thinks those matches were anything like the matches Jumbo would have years later
John Cena vs Daniel Bryan SummerSlam 2013 was my favorite match ever.
Young bucks vs Golden Lovers was my favorite these last few years.
Whatever this style is
Also sick Nick mondos tournament of death 2 in general.
Plenty of choppas, plenty of droppas, power bombs, and a moonsault.
holy fucking cringola get the fuck off my boardola
Lucha with some decent striking mixed in
Because it’s his finisher. When do you neck bump if it’s not for someone’s finisher?
What's your favorite matches?
I rarely watch wrestling anymore. It's lame except big matvhes
lol that's not even a neck bump.
Unsafe gook shitter
70's and 80's American wrasslin'
How based will it be when KENTA obliterates his first opponent with the busaiku knee kick like old times.
This
Don't be surprised if most (if not all) of KENTA's G1 matches end up being shitters or he gets injured and can't continue the tournament. Guy is so far past his prime he's gone all the way back around to being an infant and the G1 is a meat grinder.
He will be fine I’m sure, Kevin Nash on the other hand is probably tearing his quads as we speak
Still better than what Moxley will do

Gay shit?
Kagetsu doesn't need belts anymore, its better to establish Andras with the tags
Bra and panties match style
>stiff strikes, specially clotheslines/lariats
>plenty of suplexes and powermoves
>fast action, really dislike long periods of selling, call me a pleb all ya want, 90s AJPW don't do it for me
Basically this.
>90s AJPW don't do it for me
And yet you just described 90s AJPW.
Spamming suplexes, V-triggers, and Shining Wizards.
Every 90s AJPW match I try to watch, if it's like 40 min long, in about 20 of those both guys are in the ground selling and nothing is happening.
Mid 90s WCW midcard had so much variety that it spoiled me so I like it all. Flippy shit, strong style, technical, etc all have their place on a card.
But if I had to choose only one, technical mat wrestling would be my go to.
nigga you're lost
Anything but gay submission shit and long sequences of flippy counters
Well I don't know what to tell you. I mean of course they're gonna sell; especially when they ramped up using all those power moves and suplexes. But the heavyweights of All Japan in the 90s were known for their work ethic in their matches; especially compared to New Japan heavyweights. Maybe the issue is you don't like "epic" matches? Because that's how I and a lot of other people would describe those legendary All Japan matches and yea it can get grating (just like New Japan's insistence on making every main event match "epic"). You should watch Misawa vs. Kawada from the 2000 Champion's Carnival: it's less than 20 minutes and it's all action without them trying to reach for epic levels because it's just a tournament match and not the main event.
theditch.biz
Also you might wanna check out Tenryu's old promotion WAR since it, too, had all the things you listed but minus the long selling. It was just a roster full of lumpy grumpy fucks potatoing the shit out of each other. Here's the main event from the first ever WAR card.
Brawler/Powerhouse

Shingo's style
More like Jew Jewlak.
The sort that occasionally vaguely looks like guys are actually wrestling to win a wrestling contest. The sort of shit Chris Benoit or Kurt Angle would do. Basically the Angry Thick Manlet style. Zack Sabre Jr is a scrawny vegan lanklet faggot, but he isn't half bad at that sort of thing either.
Yikes if you even think what ZSJ does is remotely close to the scrambles Kurt and Benoit had
Flippyshit is, by definition, universally terrible. If it involves a flip, but isn't some soft style gaylord acrobatic bullshit, it isn't Flippyshit. Adrian Neville/PAC is a good example of flips that mostly aren't pure Flippyshit.
>Benoit
>Scrambles
Hahaha worked
Based
Yes, you should watch fake scrambles rather than some stick figure doing yoga stretches
>no pointed kicks
Does this mean I wouldn't be allowed to extend my ankle to "point" my foot in order to strike you with the top of my foot, as in a roundhouse kick or the like? But I would be able to thrust kick you straight in the face with my heel? For what fucking purpose?
I get the argument that "closed fists" or some shit is "too fake" in that if you just clobbered someone with a gigantic punch for real, they'd be KTFO'ed. But wrestling is fake, and shit like elbow or forearm smashes would ALSO knock you right the fuck out if someone hit you with it for real. The same shit goes for kicks. If you REALLY want to be autismal about the "credibility" or whatever of this shit, then it has to be no striking, period. Only grabs and throws and slams and submissions and shit. Which would, of course, get boring in a hurry, even with guys who are generally good at that sort of shit.
Shoot retarded?
>I mean of course they're gonna sell; especially when they ramped up using all those power moves and suplexes.
You gotta pace the match, nigga. Don't do a tremendous spot followed by a long double down ten times in a row. Joust back and forth with more minor shit and BUILD to a big spot that results in the double down, and don't do that shit more than twice a match.

Proud of you, Yea Forums
Kevin Nash was raped by Ricochet's finger in the summer of 92
Reminder this match didn't end with this Busaiku Knee but ended with one way later that looked like shit and wasn't even facing the cam
>You gotta pace the match
They did.
>Don't do a tremendous spot followed by a long double down ten times in a row.
They never did this.
>Joust back and forth with more minor shit and BUILD to a big spot that results in the double down
They did.
>and don't do that shit more than twice a match.
They can do it however much they want if it's within the context of the match they're having and the matches they've had. This issue some of you have with selling is bizarre; especially since we're in the era where wrestlers are doing big, devastating moves like the wrestlers in All Japan did in the 90s, but they're not selling them anywhere near as much which is terrible psychology.
whatever style SANADA works, I like naito's a lot too.
SANADA style
This
>They can do it however much they want if it's within the context of the match they're having and the matches they've had.
They can do it however many times they want. It de facto gets tedious and silly after the second time, and if you disagree, you're a mark.
New Jack is legitimately crazy. Dude's certifiable.
>"I take my job very serious"
>stabs a random jobber 9 times
>"I didn't stab him 14 times though"
wtf
I like when a guy sticks one finger in one guy's asshole and then sticks one finger in his own asshole (after both ate Chipolte) and they diarrhea all over the mat and lick it up!
I'm happy as long as there's a good story and proper selling.
I loathe comedy and flips galore.
Lucharesu
See
Cringe and bluepilled
Blue pants jobber. Nothing is as satisfying as knowing the match will be over as quick as possible and we will soon return backstage, or to a interview/video segment.
>try to look legitimate with stiff strikes and dangerous suplexes
>do obvious fake shit like Irish whips anyway
These Japs can't even be marks right.
Never go full retard, user.
Explain yourself, kid. How am I a retard and the marks hurting themselves doing a fake fight aren't?
Wrestlers literally get hurt all the time goddamn regardless of how they wrestle and have for decades.
Tell that to Lou Thesz or Verne Gagne. These guys knew how to work, not like the marks today, and drew money. Lou could still wrestle well into his 80s, he didn't have all the injuries you think he would have had. And Verne killed a guy with his bare hands at 83.
risque female stuff
Lou Thesz broke his ribs in a match with Karl Gotch.
That was on purpose.
It was a botch.
No, Gotch did it on purpose. He always did crap like that.
No, it was a botch. Gotch said so himself. If Gotch shot on Thesz he would have said so. He had no qualms about admitting to stuff like that.
>Gotch said so himself
So it must be true.
>If Gotch shot on Thesz he would have said so
No, and you don't know what it means to "shoot" on someone.
>Sports Entertainment

Mark.
It's a knee to the face, that thing daniel bryan pinched
bump
I like strong technical wrestlers who are quick and use striking and submissions with just the bit of flash now and then, & always sell the hell out of opponents moves to make it look impactful, like Daniel Bryan or Asuka currently.
Undertaker's style.
