Getting back into wrestling after a while

Hearing about AEW a lot. Is everyone claiming they will bring WCW level of competition serious or retarded?

when did you stop watching? so i can catch you up

Current ticket/event sales say yes but wait till TV starts in October to truly know. There is definitely a lot of hype for it though, that you cant deny.

Around the time CM punk stopped that Jesus gimmick and started his feud with Cena. Even then I only watched it sporadically.

Are is a pretty big deal in the wrestling world right now, how big remains to be seen but it's already surpassed peak impact in terms of being an actual credible competitor, if that means anything.

Hype for tommy dreamer bumping his face into a gay black mans asshole and ballsack. Yeah better than WCW already. Cant wait for real stars like lebron and kd to make appearances on the show because theyre big fans of it.

Everything they achieved so far, we didn't think was possible. Selling out arenas in 5 minutes and doing 100k PPV buys with no TV show is insane when you think about it, but its happening.

They are for real based on what they've done , but still a long way away from being any competition and the E is in no danger anyway with the amount of cash they have.

Ah, so you missed the brutal murder of WWE's watchability by Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and the Bellas in 2014-2015. After WM 2015 there was a slight recovery until late 2017 but now it's horrifically bad again. Like I cannot underestimate it, everything that went wrong after Cena rose and Benoit died happened all over again with Bryan except this time the fan base loved it because they finally managed to kick out the actual wrestling fans.

>100k PPV buys with no TV show
>what is boxing

a much bigger mainstream sport than wrestling

Well you have 3 "Major" Companies that are aiming for the western market right now.
WWE
New japan pro wrestling
All Elite Wrestling
>The UK scene blew up but wwe pillaged and raped it
>Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada at gets called the best match of all time by alot of people on the internet at wrestle kingdom 11
>NJPW who had slowly been gaining steam in the US explodes over night
>Jericho leaves wwe and stars working NJPW
>The Elite is a faction in NJPW with Kenny Omega and Cody rhodes
>WWE spends the last 8 years booking all about the shield
>With the backing of ROH/NJPW the Elite do a show called "All in" making it the largest non wwe american show since wcw
>The Elite leave NJPW to start an american company
>Jericho Signs an AEW contract allowing him to still work NJPW
>NJPW sells out Madison Square Garden
>dean ambrose leaves wwe to work NJPW/AEW
>AEW is backed by tony khan
Wrestling outside of wwe is fucking great right now

Boxing is on ESPN and Fox.

Nah no one is /seriously/ saying that. They might tease and toss it around but AEW is still proving itself. If you’re coming back, try watching some handpicked WWE matches to get you back in, then some bigger NJPW matches of the past few years. Idk if you like “epic” matches but no matter what other fags on the board might say, Kenny/Okada is legitimately a legendary series of matches.
Okada/Shibata is great
Omega/Ishii at the G1 was great
Bucks/Lucia Bros went a little long but still very good for some tag team wrestling
This is just off the top of my head but some anons have copy pasted lists of good shit in the past few years

people are desperately wanting wwe to change course or go out of business. it's mostly shit posting and blind allegiances at this point

it's typical smark retardation claiming every new wrestling company as the second coming of jesus.

Ok, now talk about how the rest of the card was fine. Oh, you aren't? Figures.

I was actually surprised to know that Punk became such a big deal(or was it only online) since it felt his character was just becoming
more whiny than fun as it was with his Hardy feud.

I watched WWE more for their soap opera thing but with wrestling thing they had going on desu. Later years became seriously sterile.

I like watching Japanese matches occasionally but you know language barrier prevents me from enjoying their drama.

Well NJPW has English commentary and a translator on commentary to translate anything that comes up like a promo. they have only had 6 different people hold their world title in the last decade and 3 of them have been English speaking foreigners

if you want more of a soap oprea watch aew i'd guess
Being the ELite is main guys of AEW weakly web series

And the The Road to show is the more serious stuff

Their matches are pretty fun. As I said, Even if I don't watch them regularly, their matches usually seem fun enough to watch without context.
The first video was fun kek. The second, hmm a lot of AE bashing but bit of a letdown that he is hyping up goldust(as much as I love him and his entrance) as a major AE clash.

Cody vs Goldust was considered the best match of the night by everyone. it was a blood bath

Anyway hands down the best thing you missed is any and everything from Lesnar, there's some smarks now who want to deny he even draw dimes, don't listen to them, like I said the rise of Bryan and Ziggler has put us in a twilight zone where vanilla midget loving numales smarks are stating opinions that are just outright insane

Retarded. AEW is far too liberal and concerned with pandering to the mentally ill to ever present a threat to WWE. They alienate casuals completely and are a niche within a niche.
