I picked up his second autobiography, "Foley is Good" at a thrift store for 50 cents, I read it when I take shits.

He mentions a lot of goofy stuff and being unathletic to the point of never being able to do a worked dropkick, and how the "old guard" would look down on his "hardcore" style.

He mentions how a person says something along the lines of "Throwing popcorn at someone doesn't hurt that much". He later talks about how Al Snow stole his popcorn spot/gimmick, and snitched on him to Shane McMahon, to which Shane ribs him and tells him to fuck off basically, letting anyone do the spot/gimmick.

Unironically would like to have an Yea Forums book club just to talk shit and have some fun. There are a few gems in the book I know Yea Forums would probably meme or have a good lol out of.

He makes fun of Al Snow and Test a lot in his book but I feel like Mick Foley is actually the nerdy weird fat guy who the Chads make fun of, but he's willing to absolutely DEBASE himself, so the Chads keep him around for a laugh, ribbing him all the way. I read Foley is Good and Have a Nice Day when they came out.

You kind of nailed it on the head that he was always the weirdo who chose to do the hardcore stuff, but he was actually a well-trained wrestler who learned from Dominic Denucci (who also taught Shane Douglas, apparently), but found that people (and promoters) were more entertained by his hardcore antics than his technical prowess, so he went with the stuff that got him payed.

When he was in ECW he worked a gimmick that had him completely subvert Cactus Jack's hardcore thing and became super sterile, insincere, and straight laced. His matches became long, drawn-out slow grappling contests that were essentially him transitioning between rest holds while Tommy Dreamer kept trying to beat the shit out of him and make him go "hardcore," only for him to lock Tommy back down with a rest hold.

However, his many years working the independent scene, Japan, the territories, and WCW gave him a reputation as a tough-as-nails performer that could elevate any babyface or heel, depending on what they needed him for. While obviously a lot of his schtick is looked back on with nostalgia goggles, he was always an important utility player for the top guys up until his first retirement. Because of that and his generally diplomatic personality, he was well-respected in the locker room.

He was apparently good friends with Al Snow and Test and so he shits on them a lot in those books (Test died after the book came out).

In his second book, he mentions his love for roller coasters and theme parks, his favorite being Santa's Village, beating out Magic Mountain, Six Flags, Disney World, etc. He mentions going alone sometimes, and the fact that he took his daughter to theme parks 93 days in her first 6 years of life, or about once every 25 days. It feels like he writes about his family a lot out of guilt or a need to prove something rather than love or pride. Maybe it's just anxiety.

He seems like a nice guy but also really fucking weird and susceptible to being told to take a seat by Chris Hansen or some shit like that. Not trying to besmirch him but would anyone be surprised if he went Chris Benoit 2.0? He likely never roided, but all that concussive force to the brain and body can't be inconsequential.

I love how he talked about taking slams/falls on concrete for $25 or 40 a night while on the road as an amateur.
