Ishii, Taichi, Milano and Honma = The black saints (literal translation - 4 dark emperors). The Black Saints are 4 guys who came up through the ranks together during New Japan’s “dark age”.all being outsiders Honma was a deathmatch guy,Milano a legend in the making who was forced to retire early,Ishii a man told he was too short/small for the Dojo left to scratch and claw on the indie scene and Taichi Ishikari a man trained in the All Japan dojo. Four guys with very different backgrounds, all coming in as outsiders and establishing themselves as NJPW stalwarts during the company's most tumultuous time.The four friends ran a blog from 2009 to 2011 where they would go on the road together and hang out.They were basically 4 lower/mid card guys whilst never an actual team they remained friends whether face or heel.The four split-up when Honma stayed in GHB, Milano kept the faith in RISE and Ishii joined Chaos. In 2010, Milano retired and Taichi went on excursion to Mexico.In the last 10 years a lot of happened,Honma suffered a career threatening injury,Milano has become the voice of japanese commentary, Ishii’s made an ascent to beloved veteran And until recently Taichi had floundered in the undercard for the juniors.During Ishii’s rise his name became tied to the NEVER title. He and Shibata elevated and gave the title prestige but he Hasn't been near the title in the last 3 years.
Taichi recently moved up to the heavyweight division and his career has found a second life. He shocked the world winning the NEVER title on September 17, 2018 with help from his suzuki-gun allies but lost it in his first defence. On February 21st,2019 Takashi Iizuka (a suzuki-gun member) retired leaving his famous Iron glove in the the middle of the ring only for Tachi to claim them as the show ended. And all roads lead to the 2019 New Japan Cup,Taichi being bitter at being left off all the major show’s of the last year had a recently returned Honma in the first round who he made quick work off and he met Ishii in the second round.During the middle of the match Tachi grabbed his Microphone stand to take Ishii out but when he turned around he was met with Ishii who he locked eyes with. Ishii was able to draw Tachis passion and fighting spirit out but in the end it didn’t matter since Ishii put him down.That match had seem to have awoken something in Taichi who on the next tour re-claimed the Never title and beating the undefeated Jeff Cobb and instantly challenged Ishii and he wouldne’t take no for an answer. During the tag matches building up to this match Taichi has had the better of Ishii and he continues to slowly destroy the NEVER title.

yeah, it's called Okada/Naito for IWGP/IC unification, Ibushi/Tana with the stip being Tana will be barred from ever challenging for the HebbyQ again, Jay/Jericho, Ishii/Shingo, Desperado/Kasai, Juice/Moxxin a hardcore match and Hiromu/Liger for Ligers mask and career vs Hiromus hair. If tickets aren't great for the non-Liger night then run Liger/Suzuki and move Hiromu to the other night for the jr title.
