Scott Steiner was slated for several major singles pushes before he took off in WCW. He refused because he knew Rick would get buried in the process. He only relented in this when their irl friends Hall and Nash had enough political clout to protect Rick and promised to keep him hot on TV. They had kayfabed their mother about the business for their entire careers up to this point and after their split she called them demanding both men come home to make amends.

Scott Steiner has some serious faults but the guy his always been loyal to his friends and family. He was a great worker that took almost no time off to recover for his entire WCW career. As his body got worn down he adapted himself to more of an onscreen personality than just a ring worker. Even in TNA, at which point he had lost feeling in one of his feet and suffered multiple major back injuries, he remained one of the most entertaining people on the entire roster. His mic work is legitimately some of the best stuff out of the Attitude Era and especially WCW at that time. The segments where they gave him a mic and let it rip were some of the only watchable parts of Nitro in late 99-2000.
