If he wanted the money and the hall of fame, he could have asked for a Legends deal, I can't see him getting paid that well for two matches. The company respected (and still respects) his legacy in WCW, but once he stepped into the ring he needed to take more precautions in how he was going to get booked
>I can't see him getting paid that well for two matches. Why not?
Jaxon Lewis
He thought he was wrong after all these years and that WWE would actually respect his legacy and treat him properly.
Then he found out he was absolutly right this entire time.
Caleb Hughes
Asking for a Legends deal and getting a Legends deal are two different things.
Jace Gutierrez
Even Hall and Nash thought Cunter going over was bullshit. This worked me into such a fucking seethe. God damn.
David King
I keep my stance that WM31 was the single biggest display of Haitch's unbound ego in the history of the company
Samuel Nguyen
Going over Goldberg at Summerslam was rough. Also his complete burial of Jericho in 2002.
Logan King
He wanted to give his fans the match with taker they wanted, fortunately hhh knew it wanmore important to book himself going over wcw again.
Luis Richardson
it was going to be more than 2 matches, but seth broke his spine but yeah, it was likely an offer a guy his age with a family couldn’t refuse
Dylan Morris
Sting isn’t a “mark for himself”. He doesn’t care if he loses especially at this point in his life
Aaron Roberts
the best thing about the nWo helping Sting after he fought them for years was the fact that they acknowledged it in the package, it was literally part of the storyline, just awful
was it for the undisputed at WM18?
Noah Powell
>was it for the undisputed at WM18? Yeah but also when he went over clean in the HIAC match. Jericho has spoken about this in his book. Whenever Jericho would pitch something to Vince, Cunter would make sure to play the devils advocate and talk Vince out of it.
Cooper Campbell
classical Hunter. He particularly hates Jericho: even when he's not working with him he puts his nose in, see the list of Kevin Owens moment
Jaxon Moore
lolololololololol
Brandon Taylor
>see the list of Kevin Owens moment Can you help narrow that down?
Jose Gomez
>he puts his nose in, Can you blame him? He has no power over that thing.
Brayden Taylor
Haitch didn’t want the festival of friendship to happen.
Jack Green
He likely did it with the belief next Mania he'd face Undertaker. Little did he know Seth Rollins "The Ratings Slayer" was gonna turn the back of his head into mashed potatoes.
Jaxson Turner
youtube.com/watch?v=MNyGph2D1VQ 10:34 also before he talks about how the original plan was him winning the universal title from KO at WM
>Paul is a good guy >the nose is sentient and the sociopath
Parker Morgan
Gracias
Jordan Powell
If Haitch booked himself over Booker T at that point in time why would you be surprised he would book himself over Sting years later?
Jack Wright
well one prime Booker wasn't Sting at his twilight and two, I think many were hoping that he wouldn't sink that low
Jace Davis
You just reminded me that in the build up to the Sting match he had a promo off with Booker, Booker called Sting a straight up guy and said maybe he didnt come to WWE for a reason all those years back and then Cunter fires him. As Booker pathetically gathers his things and starts walking to the back Cunter tells him hes reinstated, hes a valuable guy to the announce team but Triple H runs things around here and you best not forget it. Basically he buried Booker again, years after retirement.
Alexander Brooks
>not having Booker fired >not having the same match at WM >not having CAN YOU DIG IT... SUCKAAA?! playing instead of porn music >not having Cunter going down to the death drop Raven said it, they are predatory
Nathan King
Yea but Booker going over at that point made the most sense and he was over. If he would bury a prime story line he's going to bury a match that is basically there to showcase himself. The minute sting wasnt put in a match with just someone other than Hunter it became Huntews Wrestlemania showcase match and nothing else
Lincoln Russell
Kevin Nash may have had a bad run of it as WWF Champion in 1995, but that was a matter of the opponents he was pitted against and the way his matches were booked. When he was Shawn Michaels’ badass bodyguard, his performances demonstrated a very high quality and popularity, none more evidently than his run in the 1994 Royal Rumble, when he basically turned face with each louder reaction, such was his powerful performance.
Angel Cox
And the funny thing is Booker was the one who said he didnt see the point sitting at home collecting money but not pushing his name and thats why he went to WWE no problem after the sale. So he played good soldier and gets buried
Adrian Bennett
Triple H thinks he was just as important to the Attitude Era as Austin and Rock. To him, he represents the AE and Sting represented WCW, hence why Gaytch went over.
Isaiah Reyes
Imagine the outcome if it was Haitch vs Hogan at Wrestlemania that year. If the crowd turned on Rock what do you think it would have done to Haitch? And would he have let Hogan go over?
Asher Morales
>Triple H thinks he was just as important to the Attitude Era as Austin and Rock. his documentary was unreal
Wyatt Garcia
Well I mean when you put WCW out of business by invading their show in a freaking tank it's kind of hard not to have a high opinion of yourself.
Joseph Barnes
???
Wrong thread?
Jason Carter
Kek, this
John Harris
Let’s not forget that Triple H wrote himself to go over an ex UFC heavyweight champ in his first WM back. Then had an interference from Heyman to give Brock the win in the deciding match in the feud.
Dominic Garcia
Which documentary?
Logan Cruz
thy kingdom come, basically you have people like Big Show and Rock be like "uuhhm... yeah DX was great, a great part of the attitude era... yeah" Triple H basically managed to dupe the only person he needed to dupe: Steph
Kayden Mitchell
>"WWE had very specific guidelines for the images people reviewing Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 could use. Most infamously, there was a note that no image capturing Triple H looking “defenseless or vulnerable” should be published in any reviews or promotional materials for the game."
He probably got paid a small fortune, he isnt going to break his run as the last big WCW star to never go to WWE only to job for a couple bucks. Just as we see with the Saudi shows even the biggest self marks will sell out their legacy if the shekel amount is right
Angel Phillips
That's a nice spine you got there stinger. Would be a shame if something were to happen to it.
Sting ain't a mark. This isn't a real sports competition. W-L do not matter. What he wanted was the final feather in his cap. He wanted to wrestle in front of 80,000 fans on the grandest stage of them all. He also got a nice deal and made some good money before he retired.
Jaxon Rodriguez
I L-LOVE Y-YOU STINGER, I WAS YOU FOR HALLOWEEN AS A KID
Jaxson Evans
>as important as Austin and Rock He was. I don't remember the other 2 winning the Monday Night War, single-handedly, with a FULL SIZE FUCKING TANK. This revisionist history among wrestling fans is really sad. :(
Andrew Martin
Mark of Marks
Lucas Scott
Sting fucking sucked. The Undertaker of WCW
Juan Adams
Fuck off Paul
Dylan Evans
Do you think Hunter ever truly loved Steph?
Jeremiah Thomas
Thanks
Ryan Rivera
When she looked her most mannish and roided out, yes
Hudson Sanchez
Hunter can only loves himself. He's a full sociopath.
I wouldn't care about the Gaytch win if the plan had been for Sting to win the strap against Jasethy. He'll, maybe that was the plan. We'll never know thanks to Jasethy being an unsafe worker.
Gavin Bailey
Reminder that there were only 2 men in this business who HHH has always feared.
I was there live for this Wrestlemania since I live in the Bay Area, and this made me seethe so hard, I have never watched a WWE event ever again. God, it still makes me mad.
