Their ribeyes are objectively their best cuts they literally tell us that but to try and sell filets cuz margins are better.

Their buffalo is nothing special because their feed strategy doesn't work and that's part of what you pay for. Get Buffalo locally if you live in a state with it. If not and you just wanna try buffalo then sure go for it.

They are fine steaks. If you live in a state that can't get good beef like Florida without spending an arm and a leg it's a valid option.

It's corn fed cattle so really marbled but thus more fatty. Now I'm a pro marble steak guy, I think grass fed beef is worse but that's a taste thing, but some states don't have access to good meat easily, it's a geography thing. Omaha Steaks is like 4 star steak that delivers to your door in dry ice THAT'S why they act like hot shit and get talked up.

All I know about them is that they are not USDA rated cuts of beef. They claim to have an internal system of categorizing their meat but I don't trust that shit at all. I inquired about that on the phone after getting an offer for them and couldn't believe that shit.

The fact is that so many cuts are rated Grade A that the marketing logic is that it means less. In actually it's also been shown that their claims of being BETTER than Grade A do well in marketing polls and they sell more steaks by claiming to be better than the usda scale.

Really? That seems difficult to believe, it made me literally laugh at the salesperson and hang up when they said that. Any time someone says "yeah we are BETTER than (this metric)" rather than placing themselves on it I react with suspicion. The only logical outcome from that line of thinking is that there is an untruth; otherwise you could simply place yourself on the scale and correctly claim to be better with proof behind it.

Truth be told Omaha Steaks is like the steak version of those meal kits that are hot right now. B+ - A- food that is convenient and makes the people feel like they got something out of this world good. Also makes for good gifts, like 50% of profits are made around Xmas and the staff doubles or triples in size.
