All shitposting aside, did they really sell anyone on their product last night? The couple good matches aside, it just seemed to be all of the things I hate about wrestling rolled into one. Winking at the audience, corny indy shit, people getting spots based on diversity instead of talent. Did this really make anyone want to watch this as a weekly series?

Agree, I fell asleep watch drowsy or nothing. Can't wait for WWE to rip at them and the buy them out
Me, i do wanna see RAW tommorrow just to hear the crowd shit all over Vince though
Only drones don't want this to succeed and you got active wwe talent watching the show and enjoying it so should tell you about the autistic fucks that want it to fail
I don't watch wrestling so I don't care
You'll find out at the next show if there's a drop-off or an upswing. It's hard to tell from one show promoted for months.
You've got it all wrong. I want it to be good, but it's not.
I'd say it's mediocre but it's one show they have room to improve before TV
It was good enough for a first show, but nothing spectacularly mindblowing or even really different from WWE because of all the familiar faces. And especially when the best match of the night is from 2 guys known for their time in WWE
That's my thing. I don't want it to fail. It could be a great thing for the industry as a whole. But so far it just feels like an ego project for the ones calling the shots to pat themselves on the back for. I mean, at least the McMahons and Hunter don't open every event with shitty self-sucking "comedy" routines.
My cousin is a huge edrone for 25 years never watched wcw, never watched tna, but I sent him my br live login today and told him to check it out. He just texted me an hour ago it was fantastic.
you'll be wrong, drones want AEW to succeed so WWE will try harder or at least do something different, the only people who don't want AEW to succeed are RoH fans because they are scared they are going to take NJPW away and Impact fans because AEW ended all hope they will ever get picked up by a TV network plus AEW are signing away most of their talents.
They really should've had their TV coming on the heels of this show. Now they have to make sure All Out is just as fun as that will end up being the true lead in to their TV show.
I think the hype carries going forward towards the next big show but it might also stagnate.
no, it's mostly the "fuck dubya dubya e" crowd working themselves into an autistic fit
I agree that there was too much flippy shit. They need some big guys like Ryback.
I thought it was a really solid show. Bucks vs Luchas went on too long, Battle Royale and the Best Friends matches were sloppy, but other than that the only major issues with the other matches was the newer talent that nobody really knew. The matches themselves were really good, with good to great psychology and storytelling. Once these newer guys start to get some name recognition, people were start rating their matches a lot higher.
Solid. The women matches sucked though, joshi is usually good but that match was boring, Lucha vs bucks was good but it lasted too long and too many finisher kick outs.
The console war fanboys can't see through your reasoning though
he doesn't give a fuck, he's gonna crack open a cold one, put it in his thighs, and book wrestlemania
Y'all acting like ALL IN wasn't the first show and this was the second
I'm honestly more interested to see what this freaking guy does next than anything this company has in store.
It wasn't that much different from All In, minus the NJPW guys, but the Rhodes Bros, and Kenny vs Mox storylines have me intrigued enough to check out All Out, which is more than can be said for RoH and Impact AFAIC.
Way too early to say if I want to commit to watching it weekly. AEW may be pretty good, or it could be boring and awful. We'll see this fall.
Wtf are you talking about. Kenny just lost the most important match on the show/got beat to a pulp by Mox.
>people getting spots based on diversity instead of talent
Even if you didn’t enjoy the show, you can’t unironically say it’s not better than WWE. Therefore yes they have sold many people on the product.
>at least the McMahons and Hunter don't open every event with shitty self-sucking "comedy" routines.
>Completely forgetting about Seth's title run
>Completely forgetting about nu-DX
>Completely forgetting about Vince's "Kiss my ass club"
>AEW posters can't read
>"don't open every every event"
not surprising, lel
They literally have comedy shit every fucking show also now in their main event with Kofi and his crew shitting up every fucking main event twerking and throwing pancackes at eachother, atleast AEW (or indy) comedy in general is stuck in the preshow/early matches and they still do some cool flippy shit to combat the cringe
I haven't seen anyone talking about the actual winners of the matches or how it's going to play out in the future, just a lot of bitching about WWE.
It's like this promotion only exists as a foil, and when that buzz dies off I think this will too. Kind of like GFW.
>implying Smackdown =/= Raw
crinfe
This was the first AEW show.
the whole midcard of WWE is a comedy event be it RAW or SD, whats the last hype and "adult" feud someone had in the midcard?
the sentence was:
>"at least the McMahons and Hunter don't open every event with shitty self-sucking "comedy" routines."
learn to reread it again untill you can fully comprehend what that user said
But its the same shit? Who cares what part of the show is comedy shit, hell i'd take comedy at the start than at the end, like NJPW does with their comedy tag matches everytime but hype main events
>But its the same shit?
so this is the power of AEW posters?
>But its the same shit? Who cares what part of the show is comedy shit
AEW posters can't into basic reading comprehension
I was pretty sceptical about them, but DoN was refreshing as hell. It was more exciting for me than any recent WWE PPV. Time will tell if that's just because it's different than the bile WWE is producing, or that they can actually keep this up.
AEW has problems
WWE has problems that won't go away until Vince dies (never)
i watched it and it was painful to get through. I'm not a hardcore wrestling fan so i didn't know the majority of the wrestlers. the matches lasted like 30 mins each, who the fuck wants to watch a 30 min fake fight? they had some good comedy acts during the battle Royal.
the main event dragged on forever and when Dean showed up it made zero impact on my interests. IDK why people assume he's somekind of big star. literally nobody knows who he is outside the wrasslin bubble.
why is everyone acting like dustin rhodes is some kind of great worker? he's nothing without the goldust gimmick. he's nothing more than a shitty comedy act. why are they pretending like he's somekind of serious wrestler. WCW tried that shit in 2000 and it was horrible. nobody wants to see dustin fucking rhodes. we want him to be a cheap comedy act.
I hope AEW succeeds and all, for the simple fact that its cool to see these guys making a living doing what they love. but im not gonna wach it
Who is we you fucking faggot cunt
ur mom and ur sister
Dunno, he roleplays a voice of TEH CASUAL WRESTLING FAN
Yeah, they grabbed one of WWE's main eventers, in their prime, that they invested millions of dollars into developing. It's a pretty serious shot and WWE is taking it personal.
I fell asleep 4 times during the show though, it was only five hours long.
Should I go to some FB groups and start posting screencaps of e-drones saying how hyped they were about it?
I don't understand it either, because there is tons of wreslting outside of WWE. But these people were scared to try something else for some reason. But they were not scared to try DON.
You want me to spoil it for you? It’s not hard to figure out based on the past.
Just like the ufc is wwe, aew is bellator. Nothing different or mind blowing, the same bullshit and Smarks cheering for Jericho the same guys who were criticizing wwe for Brock winning the mitb
Absolutely, and I’m walking away from wwe until things get better.
I went to a wwe event in Albany last week. When I entered the arena they gave me a sign that said “the man.” They also gave me a bailey sign. I threw them both in the trash.
>roleplays a voice of TEH CASUAL WRESTLING FAN
not op, but thats the problem with modern wrestling audience, they are just niche and think wrestling is better now that it only panders to them when in reality wrestling was at his best when fans from all parts of the population watched it and im not talking about attitude era only but also the territories.
>freaking
go back
>y'all
based cowboy larper
>That's my thing. I don't want it to fail. It could be a great thing for the industry as a whole. But so far it just feels like an ego project for the ones calling the shots to pat themselves on the back for.
This, so much this.
No more Becky
No more Bailey
No more Bray Wyatt
No more Moment of Bliss
No more Stephanie
No more HHH
No more Rhonda Lousy
No more part time Brock
No more New Day
Make the switch
It was a better product than Impact! so I'll tune in to Tuesday Night Dynamite.
>4/5 of the vice presidents book themselves to win
>"Only drones don't want this to succeed "
Aside from the cringe opening segment, the cringe Cody with Brandi Rhodes entrance, and the Cringeus Elbow, better use of indy talent than Paul's Playhouse, and a better use of more known guys than Vince's land of roids.
>Vince's land of roids.
BiIly Gunn is at AEW and Kenny has a roid gut
This is pretty accurate. Same shit with a different name.
>Vince's land of roids.
>he thinks a ton of guys in aew, despite how shit most of them look, aren't taking something
first time i done ever seen a young bucks match
it's as bad as their description sounds
two definitionless indie 5 foot nothings kicking out of mortal kombat fatalities
fuck that shit
motn goldie vs cawdie for sure
Kenny just looks strongfat, compared to the guys who make working around Vince when they're on a put it away old man moment.
I mean fuck, no CEO should want to be blacked, but you know Vince wants Lashley more than OP wants another cock.
what happen to them
Nah they just start every show with 30 minutes of boring dialogue.
I was sold after Cody/Dustin. Haven’t seen real storytelling like that in probably 15 years
The most critically panned wrestling show of the year. I don't think a single person liked this ppv
that fucking bit where cody crushed a triple h throne was the epitome of fucking cringe, also alot of the production seemed off which doesnt make me feel inspired
>All shitposting aside
>shitposts
Yea Forums trademark retardation right here
it had issues but I'd rather see them kill wwe or make them improve their company by leaps and bounds. right now I'd rather have njpw and impact stay on track while wwe and aew make each other better because those two being in their more mainstream markets essentially means they'll end up catering to an audience that isn't what most of us are anyway
if you were the sort of of fan who was all YAAAAAAS FUCK TRIPLE H AND FUCK WWE yet still watch NXT or anything WWE related but not the main product you are a fucking hypocrite and just as disingenuous as Cody.
The current wwe talent is shit. I hope AEW, WWE, and NJPW all go out of business
This gimmick is probably doomed while WWE is still PG.
>This gimmick is probably doomed while WWE is still PG.
Unless it's on the third hour of RAW. They literally promo'd about bringing back WarZone for the third hour last week.
>MUH PG
>THE PRODUCT WOULD BE 20X BETTER IF MY FAVORITE WRESTLER COULD SAY A SWEAR OR IF THE DIVA WERE ALLOWED TO DRESS LIKE THEY NORMALLY DO EXCEPT SHOW A LITTLE MORE TIT
shoo shoo underages
We'll see.
Maybe with some weekly television theyll get interesting story lines going.
However, the ppv was prettt underwhelming.
I feel like a lot of these indie guys and even new japan guys get way too much credit for their business iq and in ring.
I dont think any of them come close to Zayn or KO or Joe or Bryan.
DoA wasn't even that interesting compared to even recent Takeovers. And when you go back even further to like The End, Arrival, the first Brooklyn, whatever one had, Revival v. DIY, NXT Dallas I could go on and on.
I think you're imagining a lot of this.
>Winking at the audience,
When? I don't remember them breaking kayfabe, even subtly or ironically.
>people getting spots based on diversity instead of talent.
This happened once in the whole show,
>corny indie shit
I'll give you that, but in fairness it's their first show and it takes time to build stuff creatively. I'm hoping it comes together when they get on TV.
Aew doesnt look to have transcendent talent. They have Kenny, Cody, and now Dean, and the tag division will have to carry a lot of weight. Top talent is going to have to really be on point to carry the company for a while. Like you said, if they had one other business savy top talent like a Sami or Bryan id be a lot more confident.
>When? I don't remember them breaking kayfabe, even subtly or ironically.
yes user Cody smashed a cross shaped throne with a sledgehammer FOR NO REASON LIKE HE WAS A PETTY EX WHO TOTALLY ISN'T OVER IT
Bryan could carry any company on his back alone for years. This is really going to show you how good a guy like bryan is to smark and mark and mainstream appeal, more so than Kenny probably ever will.
great show but I hated
>audience cuts
>bad camera cuts in general
>finisher kick outs mostly in the cody match
>cringe sledgehammer moment
>jr commentary
>tag team spotfests that go against their supposed sportslike presentation
you could argue that that could be his "character" smashing a corporate image but either way I hated it
The Cody Dustin match was amazing. Best match I've seen in a long time.
The rest was no different than wwe just with a different ring and wrestlers nobody knows. Jericho winning the main event is some tna wcw tier shit though lmao
I liked the show though, hopefully the weekly shows are good.
I disagree with both of your opinions
>Like you said, if they had one other business savy top talent like a Sami or Bryan id be a lot more confident.
BUT DEANO
Oh damn, it's the Sami mark... Imagine believing Sami could carry a company on his back, especially WWE or AEW... If it was Diamond Taxi, he might have a chance of drawing some dimes on his meter, but in a wrestling company he can't even carry a lower card program with Bobbo.
Cody/Dustin was the worst match of the night. Even more than the 3v3. Dustin bled way to early, there was almost reason for the bleeding on and top of that except for some admittedly impressive spots from Dustin it was mostly 20 minutes of boring selling with some spots to wake the crowd up.
>Imagine believing Sami could carry a company on his back,
maybe in 2014/15. Now he is a fucking joke. Main Roster. Not even once.
hell yeah it did
I'm excited for wrestling beyond a singular show/match for the first time since 2015
I feel asleep during the first half of the cody vs dustin and majority of the omega vs Jericho main event.
>he doesn't watch anything but WWE
>post count didn’t go up
oh no no no
I had only seen the WWE people like Jericho, Ambrose and Golddust wrestle before, heard of the elite guys on here but never seen a match.
DoN was great, I am completely sold on AEW and looking forward to more, "all in" if you like
>Ryback
I would rather have that tub of lard for my that was in the Battle Royale for my leading big man over this stiff botch machine.
Im not a Sami mark but AEW could 1000% use one of WWEs top 5. (If you rate AJ enough to be next to joe ko and sami)
They need someone with the mind, exp, and ability to help carry the show.
>you got active wwe talent watching the show and enjoying it
You're probably too young to know this but that happens all the time. Since the time of the territories all the way through the Monday Night Wars to today. Wrestlers themselves have always supported other federations just not so openly as today. The difference today is the invention of social media lets talent get their opinions instantly. In the past there was no outlet.
Lots of the wrestlers from WWE have friends in the other companies and want them to succeed. Mox may hate WWE, although he's never given his opinion yet, but he surely doesn't hate his friends like Seth. He'll still support him and vice versa.
Are you an idiot? You really didnt comprehend what sami did for bobby?
Sami is with no arguement the 2nd best talent in WWE, it blows my mind that anyone can imagine differently after the last 15 years.
>Did this really make anyone want to watch this as a weekly series?
Yes it was fucking great
>not raiting generico
>WWE mark
>on fucking Yea Forumsie
>post count didn't go up again
stop it
you don't watch much wrestling do you? DoN was a 7/10 at best.
Don't bother with these arguments, you know that you cannot convince anyone who already has his opinion set about Sami. They just don't see him as one of the best in the world.
They don't get it.
you're clearly trying to say IP count but you are coming across like a retard spamming post count
Calm down, Paul.
To add to my post. These are the same people who thought that Stunning Steve is just a shitter.
I just think its a stupid arguement because its painfully obvious.
WWE has 4 legit all around talents who are good on the mic, in the ring, backstage acting, comfortability, and a serious mind for the business.
Only 4.
Bryan and sami, then joe and ko.
Like who the fuck else is there that anyone would argue for? Seth? AJ? Finn? Bray?
Didn't watch but will give the weekly show a shot for about a month. Even though I've never been a Dean fan, him coming it at the end was pretty surprising so maybe there will be more of that. And hopefully wwe steps up there have where they can snipe some talent too and just debut at raw instead of nxt.
retarded e-drones love WWE no matter what. they think there is nothing wrong with their current product and want AEW to fail because daddy vince didn't create it
>too young to watch the attitude era
>calls others underage
lmao
Dr Brit Baker is erection fuel if you put a bag over her head
based
Sami didn't do shit for Bobby, Bobby is lower than piss break, he's a straight up shit break, when this dude comes out you know you got like a good fifteen minutes to clear your damn bowels, wash your @ss and get back to the bullshit. Sami never had an entertaining program. I'll give it to Bryan as the top entertainer, talker and wrestler. AJ can go but he's on cruise control. Orton is just chilling but give him something to work with and he can get it on, too bad WWE 'aint got SHIT to work with. Joe can run a program, but he's a jobber, ultimately no point to anything he does. Kevin Owens is a fat piece of shit but I give it up to him, he can entertain. Miz can get something over, matches not so hot though. Seth is boring as fuk in all fields. WWE is really pure shit, and nothings going on so I wouldn't even make a top five, only one who can make it work and deliver is Bryan. If I had a good program, I would give it to Cena, Bryan, Orton, in that order and fuck everyone else because they either suck, are pussies, or are out of shape, can't work a crowd, never have any good programs, etc..
i need a gif of computer kid kenny. shit was hilarious.
It failed to make me interested enough to watch it, there were no interesting match stipulations announced, there were no interesting signees, and they said it will be five hours, fuck it.
I expected it to be cringe and it was, but I sort of liked it.
It reminded me of an old school wrestling match. I liked it. I think there was more blood than expected, though. But when was the last time Dustin bladed?
i thought it was good but then I just remember moments as below, and think wrestling has still got a long way to go
>Implying their matches had any stakes
What a mark
One last hot dog for the road, bro.... weiner...take all.
I don't remember HBK wearing trunks lol
Holy shit the state of e-drones
>diversity
I don't know bro.
Could be a stunt like Vince does all the time.
Only the Lucha bros are not white from the people who are kind of pushed and they are talented.
They have some on the card but they didn't realy focused on them.
Based
