brinsed
he was alright. At least it wasn't Michael Cole.
Cringe
Better than when he was doing New Japan on AXS, but not as good as when he was doing WWE fulltime. Actually had pretty good chemistry with Excalibur.
he was bringe
Both actually. I liked it overall.
Pretty decent. He’ll get better when the rust washes off. He doesn’t need to be calling the matches though. Let Excalibur call the matches, and let JR call the emotionally shit.
I watch muted so I dont care
3-man+ teams are usually cringe though so I guess cringe
he was ok. not as bad as michael cole but not as good as classic jr
he was based
started cringe got based as the show went on and he got more into it.
>He’ll get better when the rust washes off.
He's got the kind of rust that doesn't wash out. He's a half senile shitter now.
If the show had just been JR calling it solo it would have been better. The other shitters he's with hold him back.
He was good. but i think it was because he wasnt the main commentator(from what i heard) he didnt talk as much as he did in njpw when he shit the bed. i thought he did well.. idk
steaming
He was OK. He will never be what he was in his prime, and that's ok. Kevin Kelly is currently the best commentator in the business.
Much better here than his NJPW commentating
Still not amazing, but his voice is easier to listen to than Cole's
He was perfectly tolerable. Pair him with a great PBP guy like Excalibur or Kevin Kelly and he can hold up his share while the other guy calls the deep stuff and says the stuff the fans want to hear. But when he was with Josh Barnett, it was like they just fed on each other's disapproval of certain shit and it came off like two guys who didn't even like the show they were covering. JR actually sounded excited about the matches he was watching tonight.
What I'm trying to say here is Josh Barnett is a massive shitter.
>Josh Barnett
Now that you are talking about him, Josh and Frank to AEW when
Barnett is based forever for the kino that was Bloodsport
he was based calling the moxley debut. everything else was kinda lackluster.
His words are barely intelligible through his southern drawl and paralyzed face. He is a poor wrestling commentator. He was good at throwing out sound bites in the 90s when the WWF was basically Jerry Springer and all he had to do was yell out catchphrases at the top of his voice. He comes off as an old dope in a context where the act of wrestling is emphasized because he clearly can't call moves or even keep up with what's happening in the ring.
I liked it how based JR actually called it “wrestling” and not sports entertainment
I miss his ability to put over specific aspects of peoples characters, he emphasizes toughness and grit which is something anybody can get behind.
seemed a bit senile at times
he was crased
His Japan run was so bad I can never call him based again
jr sounded like a dad watching a non-wwe product for the 1st time and it was pretty great
JR was not bad here. I was pleasantly surprised.
Honestly I said the same thing when he was first doing the NJPW on AXS and he never really got better. I still like JR but I think his best commentating days are far behind him.
his age really showed. he doesn't have the stamina or charisma to just go all out
>he was alright. At least it wasn't Michael Cole.
yeah this
he got lost a few times and didn't have any chemistry with his co-commentators, which hurt it (the guy without the mask was particularly shit)
he grunpf
He was outstanding from 96 - 01. Once 2002 came you can tell he was really burned out. By the time the reign of terror arrived JR sounded super bored and uninterested in calling matches. I was re-watching Hell in a Cell 2009 and he sounded dead.
for a lot of the night he sounded like a confused old man who could barely follow what was going on, which was very sad
BUT by the end of the night, probably once he'd relaxed and got back into it enough, he was as good as ever. His calling of the Moxley run in was as good as anything from the attitude era
