Guys, I don't know if you remember... But I was the user that posted the Polar deck with sky blue grip. It didn't last even two weeks... I want to die. I am broke. Why does this always happen to me. I am hopeless...
Does anyone here have any experience with PP Flight decks? Also, does dryness play a factor when it comes to these decks? I'm afraid not many people in my country buy them, so they might have been there forever in the shop's warehouse.
they used to get shilled here all the time for a while. has ben de gros done a review of one? thats probably your best bet for good information youtube.com/watch?v=mAKCYMzUwq0

Thank you friend

dryness would affect carbon fiber far less than wood, if at all. but i think those boards have a layer of wood, not sure, never seen one irl
Benjamin Wilson
They have 5 layers of wood. That's why i'm scard of dryness

>authorization charge So you're getting charged a fee for essentially telling them "yes, this is what I would like"? If correct that's fucking bullshit, take your business elsewhere.
Cameron Russell
No, on international business they make a small charge and ask me to check the amount to verify card's actually mine, as they don't have other means. They, obviously, cut those couple of bucks from the actual cost after.

I just watched SLS for the first time ever and kept thinking that it's such a weird sport because every run and every trick is a complete lottery. But then there are people like Nyjah and any time a person can win so consistently, it just kind of legitimizes the sport.
Also, there is no one cooler than Chris Cole.

>Does skateboarding need "legitimising" for you? not in terms of outside perception, I couldn't care less about that. I was just running my own thought experiment, wondering how valid skate competitions actually are in determining who the "best skater" is when trick fail rate is pretty high and judging is largely subjective and inconsistent. if it wasn't for people like nyjah, I would probably say that contests are mostly pointless beyond just watching a few pros butt heads and see who just so happens to come out on top on that given day.

But who can come close to Nyjah? If consistency is the goal of your game, then you can't really make a competitive game from it. Just because Bearings are shoving "BATB xD" at our faces, it doesn't make it interesting.
Levi Mitchell
imo you can only have a competition if there is some consistency across the competitors, otherwise it's just a series of flukes, coming down to who bails the least.

that was kind of my point, if it really was just a series of flukes then it wouldn't be possible for any one guy to be so dominant.
first he does the frontside ollie to fakie mmanual,
that's a good trick
, but it's documented from a shit angle, let's go past that. He switch frontside ollies back (skill, but just on a reminding level, it was probably the first switch trick utilised in a mass scale) kickflips up the curb, and then backside ollies and switch 360 ollies. He combines the natural momentum of turning counterclockwise (and keep in mind, this is the height at which people street skated then i.e. ankle high) with a skillful maneuver (switch 360) BUT: the real magic comes from the little kickflip he throws in the middle of the line. Because you need to throw (and many videos did that back then) a simple trick in there for MEASURE. Just like how paleontologsts or geographers throw the figure of a human body or a scale size in their graphs and pictures to give a full perspective of what's what.
watch another example at this classic Carrol moment at 0:56 where he follows a, by all accounts, difficult trick (switch big heel) by a simple pop shuv-it

judging by various footage where we see these guys riding their own boards, I would say that companies mostly put out one size that the pro rides and then another size to mix it up. I guess it comes down to the company, but Hjalte sure as shit rides his own boards.

it is actually pretty resolved how ABEC is just a marketing slapped-on sticker, Abec only matters in machinery bearings, what is important in skateboard bearings is durability Transworld had an article about it
As far as urethane goes...well, if you deny a skateboarding documntary I don't see how else I could convince you.
Robert Cooper
They're okay, nothing too special here. They get crusty pretty quick, these were 99a's. At the time I was skating these (2013-2014) they went from 52mm to probably 50mm. No flat spots but after crusting up they lost the ability to slide easy-peezy powerslides. Wouldn't recommend to be honest, there's a reason they don't carry them in skateshops anymore, or if they do the product is likely 5+ years old.
Did you ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, the information shared in the documentary is obsolete?
Xavier Richardson
aren't wheels still marketed as "special blend/mix/formula"?
Isaiah Morris
how tall are the curbs in your country normally? cant slappy for shit here since they're all at least 6 inches tall and are at a pretty sketchy angle fron the gutter
Noah Harris
>implying the urethane is the same as in the seventies/early 80's >implying companies don't reinvest into improving the urethanes performance >implying there is no competition in wheel manufacturing and that it's all from the same source
Nicholas Taylor
>implying there is no competition in wheel manufacturing and that it's all from the same source
right, and what better part to exemplify your position than deck brands?
Noah Nguyen
it varies. usually 2-3 inches, but i can slappy 6-8 with a bit of effort when i run into one. are they painted? it really helps if they are. if not, wax it a ton and learn slappy crooks in the meantime to break it in. then, from slappy crook, all you have to do is powerslide into position (for backside). if the curb forms an acute angle, then you're fucked. do you have parking blocks? learn it on one of those guys
There's been some product research and development that's gone on since 1979. The differences it makes is debatable but I think improvements have been made.
A decade ago, at least half the skate park had loud flatspots. We just went faster, did more powerslides and they went away. I had a pair of formula 4s in my teens, they flatspoted all the time.
Levi Torres

Btw my dad works at the urethane factory (there's only one lol) and he says ur full if shit.
Dylan Moore
here's the thing, the documentary exists and you can site it, for better or worse. I provided a source.
What did you provide?
Nicholas Powell
but the doc mentions it for like 5 seconds or something. it doesn't go in depth at all. you have 5 secs of really old information vs an infinite amount of anecdotal evidence. i think the latter one is better desu.
Ryan Ward
that depends
if many people say it, at most it's worth examining.
I don't disagree that the shapes and sizes have changed, but has the basic urethane formula really changed? I doubt it. And that still won't affect my skateboarding or how I see skateboarding.
Joshua Reyes
You've provided a shitty source at best to back your claims that's what's wrong. You're the one who has to support your claims and as I've pointed out you haven't done a very good job of that.
You don't cite a shitty source(or no source at all) and then turn around and say "well where's your source proving me wrong?" Burden of proof is on you my man.

But hey, you're just here to argue because you're bored and have nothing productive to do.
Justin Rodriguez
but I provided a source. Why is it shitty anyway?
You just call it names. But you haven't provided any real proof that formulas/mixes/blends differ.
You even judged me without knowing me, that I JUST came back to skating.
Well, you're just a tryhard ekin jock that's been scourging the parks and spots who take themselves way too seriously. And you should get checked.

>But you haven't provided any real proof that formulas/mixes/blends differ. You're the one who made the claim and as I've pointed out the source isn't particularly good. In addition you not only have just 1 (one) source but I can't get into it's details like I would if you cited an academic study comparing different urethane formulas. You do know that when you make a claim burden of proof lies on you correct?
>You even judged me without knowing me, that I JUST came back to skating. user isn't one person and I'm not that guy FYI.
>Well, you're just a tryhard ekin jock that's been scourging the parks and spots who take themselves way too seriously. And you should get checked. Now who's judging who lol. All because you don't understand how to back up a claim and get assblasted when people called you out (rightfully) on a single dubious source.
Come back with some better sources for your bullshit or at least admit you really have nothing to base this on.
Kayden Taylor
>as I've pointed out the source isn't particularly good
ok, WHY?
>it's hard to verify the information in a documentary compared to an academic study.
allright, where is the academic study?
>In addition you not only have just 1 (one) source
I also mentioned the ABEC ratings based on a Transworld article and the fact that decks are made in like 5 factories all over the world.

Can you read? because you didn't address anything in your post. You have a short clip in a documentary that's over 20 years old and you're acting as if it's verifiable proof that you're right and in addition you've failed to provide any other sources to back up your claim. Which btw if it's as right as you think it is should be easy to do.
>allright, where is the academic study? That's what I'm asking you retard. I'm not the one who has to back up the claim that all urethane is the same you are and quite frankly you've done a piss poor job. Are you dense? Is it so hard to provide an additional source to back up your claim? Should be easy if you're correct right?
>I also mentioned the ABEC ratings based on a Transworld article and the fact that decks are made in like 5 factories all over the world. I specifically called you out about the urethane claim and now you're trying to deflect.
>I can't believe you're taking my argumentation so seriously, while having yet to provide a single source to prove that there are differences in urethane wheels! I'll say it again since you seem to be fucking retarded. When you make a claim burden of proof to prove that claim is on you. As it stands right now you've provided one incredibly dubious and outdated source to back up your claim and refuse to give anything else to assert your claim. I'm also not the one making a claim here you are, I haven't said that there's a difference either way in urethane formulas I just pointed how shitty your source is and told you to come back with a better one. The fact that you get this assblasted over being asked to assert your claim is fucking hilarious though
>I don't even care about it Cope
all the time you wasted defending a short clip from a documentary that's not verifiable could have been spent getting one good source to back up your claim and btfo everyone replying to you but you chose to be retarded instead

You didn't trigger anybody by pointing out an obvious observation about capitalism you triggered people by providing a shitty source and refusing to back up your claim and instead chose the >N-n-no you route Of debate which just makes you look even more dumb.

It's proof that skateboarding ads are not based on "serious scientific measurements", it's that simple.
I'm not coping, you're not that important to me, neither is this argument, while I can see it evokes some strong emotions in you, you're not even trying to insult me, you just straight curse.
Cooper Wood
>all the time you wasted defending a short clip from a documentary that's not verifiable could have been spent getting one good source to back up your claim and btfo everyone replying to you but you chose to be retarded instead
same to you, you could have provided a source to back up your claim, but you want me to do it.
Ok, I'll do it
>Do skateboard wheel brands matter?
>Unlike skateboard decks, wheels and brands make a huge difference. There is a lot of technology behind it and the bigger brands all have their own formula when it comes to producing skateboard wheels. Skateboard wheels require a lot of research to come up with the perfect combination of polyurethane and go through heavy testing before they enter the shelves. A Bones wheel is far superior to a Mini logo wheel which shows in price and durability.

what's a slonk? also, keep in mind that the conversation died down when I provided a source that justified the other guy's opinion, when it's a blog. He could always have credible sources for deck companies, but not so much for wheel companies, or he could be right.
his opinion is valid, switch serves nothing but vanity, unless it's done properly. I want to have switch game, but only like certain tricks.
Gavin Jones
stupidest thing I’ve heard about switch ever
>its just cool bc its like skating with your left hand tell me anons, does your left and right hand work the exact same? fuck no! same with your legs. more likely than not one has more power and one has more control, by inverting them you explore different possibilities to the skateboarding unique to your body. you could have your power foot normally popping while your control foot flicks but the dynamic changes interestingly when you skate switch. its gonna look and feel different. if you’re just counting the number of times a board is spinning or flipping then you’re the one who’s about vanity
switch also isnt always harder. by the time you start learning it you’ll probably have developed a dominant spin direction with your regular tricks (fs or bs) and having learned how to spin a certain way regular transfers on to the opposite direction in switch. so if you’re a backside guy learning switch, sw fs would be easier for you and the other way around for a frontside guy
Jaxon Wood
Nice digits. NERD!
Justin White
only a nerd would know what you're talking about, NERD
Justin Kelly
>so if you’re a backside guy learning switch, sw fs would be easier for you and the other way around for a frontside guy
I don't know or can imagine how that would be true
you're popping with the other foot
Josiah Flores
you’re spinning your shoulders in the same direction, so your shoulders already know how to do it but your feet dont. sorry should have specified that.
think about a fakie bs bigspin, the direction the board and your body spins, now think of a direction of a switch fs bigspin. its the same number of turns for your board and your body, only difference is the foot that pops it. imagine learning tricks where you dont have to learn the timing of your shoulders, just your feet. makes it easier
You literally spent the entire the going >B-but where's your source backing YOUR claim When I wasn't making one, but ok retard. Asking you for citations on your claim != Making a claim.
