I'm an AEW Chad but I can't defend this

>H-hangman HAS t-to go over, he's o-our friend!

So what, let him start 0-1, who gives a shit? It's not the end of the world and it's not for the championship. Just let them have a very competitive match where PAC goes over and Hangman comes out of it looking like a scrappy underdog babyface. You have years to build him up to be a top guy.

>W-we ca-can't have a DQ fi-finish on this show because people m-might c-criticize it!

If this was a problem, why did PAC vs Hangman in some Bingo Hall in England end in a fucking DQ? The only difference would be the setting. And honestly, who gives a shit? AEW fans are savvy enough to understand what's going on behind the scenes and wouldn't care about it being a DQ finish, just give us a great match and people will be happy regardless of the outcome. And this is a difficult, unique situation and it's not like every show will have some DQ finish.

By not doing the match, AEW comes off like a bunch of cucks who aren't on top of this situation and they're at the mercy of a promotion so small and so miniscule. How are they getting big leagued by a pachinko hall?

>How are they getting big leagued by a pachinko hall?

Because sushi is tastier than hot dogs

The issue wasn't PAC going over Page, it was Omega going over PAC

tl;dr just do a draw ffs, shows the flawed mind-set already desu

Too long of a match. This match shouldn't get more than 18 minutes.

So do an 18 minute draw and pack those 18 minutes full of high-spots to make them both look like stars?

That is not a draw, that is non-contest. Draw is used only for time limit draws in wrestling, user.
Dave said that him and other people advised them to do something different, but they booked this, because they feel like that would not work for their promotion.
isn't it refreshing when promotion feels like they do not want to do DQ, which is the easy way out?

Bigger self marks than the boomers of WCW

If PAC doesn't want to lose it fucks up their plans. Since wins matter he would have to be the champion and that's Kenny's spot for now.

The mistake was in part of AEW making it publicly known that no dq’s in ppv rule is in effect, they boxed themselves into a corner on that one. Also PAC is to blame also for taking the angry manlet gimmick too far.

>That is not a draw, that is non-contest. Draw is used only for time limit draws in wrestling, user.
Ding-Dong Diddlyfair enough but technicalities aside they could've just done an 18 minute count-out/stoppage gimmick if they wanted to eschew PAC losing. As long as the match itself is good omitting a clean finish just means they're setting bricks to act foundational for a future story.
And if the problem was losing to Omega at a later date that doesn't necessarily need to impede the match at DoN, just remove the addendum that the winner there gets a title shot.
>isn't it refreshing when promotion feels like they do not want to do DQ, which is the easy way out?
No it feels like a mismanaged shit-show with people at the helm that are too rigid in their thought patterns to express creativity.

if we learned anything from past promotions, giving a wrestler creative control who has an ego as big as both of them is a garbage idea.

yikes

Why not do the hart austin finish where Austin lost but got over as fuck cos he wouldn't quit.
do that.

This. This shit is so simple and AEW's overthinking this. This isn't a big deal at all.

They want to push Hangman as a future top guy. Having him lose his first time out isn't a problem by itself, the problem is they then need to have PAC beat even tougher guys so Hangman's loss doesn't look as bad. AEW can't have Omega and Jericho losing to PAC right out of the gate, they need to cement their two top guys as top guys for a while.

AEW wanted this to be one of the keystone matches of the card. The problem with doing a DQ or time limit draw is PAC did exactly that with showstopper matches against ZSJ and Will Ospreay, and both crowds in both cases booed them out of the building for that. AEW obviously doesnt want one of their key matches featuring one of their future top guys to get massively booed at the first show.

Given the situation they're in, I can respect AEW for handling this the way they did. They could have done something cartoonish and screwy like WCW would have done, or they could have pretended like the match never was going to happen and the fued never happened like WWE would have done. Instead they flew Page out to the UK to do the match and make everything make sense in storyline, which is what you SHOULD do. The only thing you can't respect AEW for is getting themselves into this situation in the first place. There is no excuse for not being able to see this situation coming up when they first booked the match in February. That is a serious failure on their part and they can't blame anyone but themselves for it.

Sushi is for the native draws, others get a bowl of leftover rice

What’s the matter brah, wasn’t it a ding-dong diddly work? And was that somehow not immensely retarded? Lmao. Dumb hotdog shill.

user hit it out of the park with the whole post. And greentext is the thing that was the mistake. A big one. And a thing anyoen should criticise them for. But everything else? I think (if they do a video within two days) they can use this. And I am willing to prolong my goodwill and wait and see.
It's not as simple as you think it is. Those are generational talents and time and place were perfect for it. What you and user propose is very risky. Also this doesn't solve problem "PAC won't loose to Omega"

I will say that I don't think doing a DQ/draw finish would have been as big a deal as they're making it out to be. The Hart Austin finish would work just fine. But I can also imagine all the green text ">wins and losses matter lol" posts of they did a dq finish, and I can see why they'd feel like they need to avoid that after making a big deal out of being sports oriented.

This match wasnt the problem. Retards. It was the Kenny match at All In 2.

>But I can also imagine all the green text
Yup. There is the core of the problem. The discourse would have shifted. And they need discourse on the twitter and other places to be in their favor.

>"AEWchad"

>starts doubting the masterplan at the first problem

fuck you op you wwe rat shill

Smug idiots really aren't paying attention. Makes time spent on Yea Forums look like even more of a waste than before.

The problem is that they couldnt trust their fanbase enough to go along with it. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with a DQ - If it has a payoff.

It did, it continued a storyline - its now been dirtied out because they couldnt trust fans. Denying the Vegas crowd because AEW pussed out.

Hangman wasnt supposed to go over , the reason he said no is because he wins at DON but has to lose at all in 2 in September.
Btfo

A good match with a disappointing finish is better than no match. It's way better than canceling a match you advertised since day one to paying customers for no reason other than you can't convince a wrestler to do his job and have an irrational aversion to doing anything that anyone named Vince might have done.
We can already see where Khan's mentality of being an "alternative" to WWE is going to cause problems. If being different means making the worst possible decisions, AEW is going to outsmart itself out of business.

Marks bro, ring bro

AEW could easily do a time-limit draw, give them 20 minutes and keep both guys looking strong, keeps their credibility and the 0-0 record intact.
Taking the match away from people isn't a real solution, and just made them look like wannabe bookers, unless we end up with something equally good or objectively better which I'd be shocked they manage to pull off considering this nonsense.

If that's the goal, they're failing hard rn
Why do think this matters at all? It's a mismanaged trainwreck regardless.

Stats. At 0-1,he's already a jobber with a 0% success rate. By having him lose, it won't make sense mathematically to put him against Omega who has a 100% success rate

That could easily EASILY be changed before then via storyline, for someone calling others retarded you're a fucking dumbshit.

Why have someone win on your show, if he won't put someone else over, especially if he is not signed exclusively to you. If PAC is beating Hangman, he has to get beaten by someone else, you do not waste Hangman's loss that way.

lol

>e-drone false flagging as an aewchad

embarrassing honestly

Isnt this Adam guy in nxt?

>aewchad
HOLY FUCKING CRINGE

sushi is for manlets

>PAC would be first in line for a title shot if he beat Page
Why

>not having a run in by whoever his rival in AEW is supposed to be
Even if he lost clean to Pac, they could put him over by making it look like he did a mistake that cost him the match.
This just proves that if they will have favoritism like everyone has been saying. Be ready for the unbeaten streak of the Young Bucks that's going to last for at least a year, and they're are going to justify by saying that they're heels.
