This is s curiosity to me as well since they consistently bury Page on BTE as part of the story. Him losing would only continue that so I'm not sure why he was booked to win against PAC.

That doesn't matter. This match was designed to get Page over. This and several more upcoming matches. That's how you build a star. Make them look good, give them wins over established people, dominant wins at that, not some fucking slips on a banana peel or roll ups.
If he got 2 singles matches win and picked a win 2 tag matches (got the pinfall) he'd look more like a champion.
I know, I know, people have been damaged by WWE's booking, but that's how you did it until 1995 and that's how you still do it in Japan.

They don't bury him. They are making him into a babyface. The whole camera surveilance story, where Bucks are keeping tabs on him all the time, where they send him "juice" so he could look like a champion and so on, they are all designed to get him over as a good dude. Not as their lackey. That's the point.

He will. He will get over with his matches, he proved that in NJPW, he has potential and everyone can see it. BTE are giving him character touches.
Maybe he is not for you, but trust me, that audience would have eaten PAC vs. Hangman match up. And babyface beating a heel who showed up and stuck a belt in babyface's face is one of those ways, how you make the guy.

That's backwards. Hangman is basically the only guy from ELITE I would have had won, if I was booking the show.

It really kills the replacement match more than anything since you know who's going to win. Shoulda just said pac had a minor injury and they didn't want to chance it. Woulda given them points with the safety marks.
