Wait. What? Explain
fuck off and google it you dumb redditor they said they're gonna have moved damage and power levels on screen during matches
Post a link next time, dipshit.
google it yourself instead of asking for context for everything you helpless milquetoast redditposting retard
You have some misplaced anger issues, user. How's your dad?
It's not power levels, it's just statistics
doing great you pseudo-intellectual dunning kruger personified slut
Having a UFC style ranking system is genius and will make matches mean more.
Did you have a happy childhood?
The UFC rankings are a joke and you have no idea what you're talking about lol
yup. did you have a happy psychology 101 class this morning at your community college?
For contrast, here are WWE's PPV win/loss records
wrestletalk.com
>move damage
Sounds unironically kino.
what's wrong with it?
The UFC literally doesn't even care about them anymore and just books the fights that will draw the best
don't do 50/50 booking and the win/loses wouldn't be retarded.
They're irrelevant.
Do you follow MMA?
>KENNY OMEGA JUST KICKED OUT OF THE CHI-CHI SUPERKICK THAT HAS A STATISTICALLY AVERAGE 29.32% CHANCE OF ENDING A MATCH OMG THIS IS AWESOME WHY ARE WE TRYING OUR DAMNEST TO BUY INTO THESE FALSE FINISHERS WHEN THE NUMBERS CONTRADICT EVERYTHING!!!
They'll abandon them sometimes for huge fights but 90% of the matches still follow the format
I recommend you go outside and get some fresh air for 30 minutes.
If it helps build stars, then they're good.
If it doesn't help build stars, they're meaningless.
That's the only thing that matters.
DJ was p4p #1 and not a single person gave a flying fuck.
But they don't. You don't follow MMA.
imagine the royal rumble by the numbers bullshit on every single show 52 weeks a year
and i don't take recommendations from retarded redditors
>having win/loss records acknowledged so guys have credibility when they win instead of just randomly having everyone win and lose to each other every week so no one gets over is bad
Why are you misquoting him? Do you not know how to actually argue points? Or is your brain just sludge from all the reddit?
Assuming I've ever been on Reddit. What really happened to you, user? Did somebody on Reddit hurt your feelings?
>progression in wrestling used to be more mature storylines and aggressive content
>progression in wrestling is now fake fighting stats and video game damage bars
Fuck that I'm making a Kayfabe power level chart and nobody can stop me
Wrestling is dead, but this would be interesting. I'd like to see it in action.
>why are you removing the bullshit hyperbole from the OP and stating what they're actually doing?
Because I have a brain
>When asked for clarification regarding his earlier comments about move damage and wins and losses, Cody responded by saying "Yeah, so when we're thinking about a direction, we're thinking about who we're building and where they fit into the atmosphere of AEW. Think of it like Dragon Ball Z - Yamcha didn't just go out there and take on Perfect Cell. It's all about power levels and getting over the stature of a wrestler on the scale of said power levels.
But good booking has nothing to do with stats and power levels and move damage, you fucking retard. You literally just took what he said and made it into something else. You have a brain that is wrought with mental illness.
prove it
based liechad
>>No Bryan you are just a B+ power level
>But good booking has nothing to do with stats and power levels and move damage
Well having people who win more often get title shots is obviously booking related, retard. The rest of that shit is nonsense shitposting.
But that's not what we're talking about you braindead fucking idiot. We're not talking about booking. We're talking about having rigid numbers and having move damage display on screen. You're, once again, taking something completely different and trying to change the argument to that when you're the only one even bringing up booking.
it drew in dbz so why wouldn't it in aedub?
based vanilla KOTH post
because they can't fly, spam laser beams, and none of them have 1/100th the charisma or likability of goku
why not go all the way ham and have wrestlers wear scouters to the ring with a different design so they don't get sued
>We're talking about having rigid numbers and having move damage display on screen
Yeah but that's not real and you made it up
It Twitch Gamer Wrestling
How is it any different than the power rankings any other sports analysis show does?
those shows are real and don't have stories and plans
Unironically based. This will help protect finishers.
Lol holy shit, maybe lay off the energy drinks.
ants and crackheads who live in a deposit state are going to get WORKED by this picture
>Stats are bad
They're not inherently bad. But you have the internet to thank, with it's readily available data and plethora of amateur analysis, for fans becoming more and more obsessed with stats in every sport. Look at fantasy leagues, they're all about that life. Also, nothing says those two things have to be mutually exclusive.
If the end product is a simulated sport, it makes less sense to skip things like that.
yep if it was simulated sport but this isn't a simulation it's a scripted show with a direction and controlled outcomes, not a simulation
Do you not know what words mean?
yep i know the word. this is a written television show. not a fake fight. this isn't a simulation of how a fight would play out. this is a match with spots and a story.
>when you drone so hard you moan
Do they have to fill their super bar before they can do a finisher?
having real life stats doesn't help fake stories you morons. they didn't have a number on the screen every time costanza struck out with a lady. it's a television show about fighters. not a simulated fight.
Unironically one of the bucks said there would be a finisher icon for whoever's in the match that would flash when they hit it
I can see you're new here. The motto on 4Chinz is Pics Or GTFO. Not just in a literal sense, but also in spirit. Post something to back your stupid shit up of fuck off back to where you came from, you false flagging turbo jew.
based retard
>Having a UFC style ranking system is genius
And not at all a new idea. TNA did the exact same thing, probably multiple times, and it was complete dogshit. Now, that could just be because TNA was run entirely by incompetent jagoffs, and it's possible to do it well. But this isn't a rigged sport like UFC, this is fiction. You are supposed to SHOW, not TELL. If the show is done well enough, we should have a general idea of "rankings" just from watching without having to have some bullshit list straight out of a faggy anime guidebook spell it out for us.
it actually does though
you just think of it as numbers on a screen but in the context of matches stats can and do make stories with a good commentator
"""stats"""" can accentuate stories, if you lie about things like streaks, height, weight, etc (which is why they lie about streaks, height, and weight in wrestling)
wrestling isn't fucking real you mark so why should the stats be
>ANDRE... The 6'8 guy who isn't actually that tall at the end of the day but he's higher than average!
calm down kid you're literally going so insane you're unintelligible
That's some impressive false equivalency. One of those shows is a sitcom while the other is presented as a contest between athletes. Tale of the tape, current streak, fight strategy, and in ring habits can all be immersive elements in that story.
This is so fucking cringe but just the type of shit smark geeks will enjoy so hope Tony Khan an his excellent workrate specialists can enjoy their 300k core fanbase for the remainder of their time on TNT. Jesus.
The Power Rankings for other sports are the equivalent of Dave Meltzer making a list of kayfabe power levels. It might be fun to read and hear his brief explanations (if he weren't such an autistic retard), but it has absolutely no bearing on any team's schedule, playoff seeding, or who wins games.
For instance, CBS's most recent MLB power rankings have both the Yankees and Rays in the top 6. It is entirely possible that one of them doesn't make the playoffs. The ACTUAL playoffs, not counting that abortional 1 game wild card shitshow that needs to fucking die.
You're entirely right. It should just be something announcers can talk about and some graphics to throw up on screen. Power rankings really only factor into "speculation" about title shots and whatnot. It's just a little thing that goes a long way with presentation not the end all be all of creative.
God damn it, that's not what I said at all. MLB doesn't produce MLB power rankings. The commentators for televised games don't bang on about some explicit power rankings. They'll talk about a team's record in recent games, or sabermetrical things, but that's it. And that's only because baseball lends itself to shit like that. What stats, besides recent win/loss trend, are wrestling announcers going to bring up? How many suplexes per match a particular wrestler throws? Only the most autismal of idiots could possibly give a shit, and they make for a very poor target audience.
The ONLY cases where it would be acceptable for pro wrestling to have rankings/stats/etc on screen, EVER, is either when some wrestler is on a fat undefeated streak, and you want to count up x-0 Win/Loss every week, or for some round robin style tournament with a definite beginning and end, where wrestlers get something like 2 points for winning, 0 for losing, and 1 for a no contest during "group play" matches before the knockout stage. Otherwise, fuck off with your tryhard gimmick horseshit.
Clam down. We're saying the same fucking thing. The only added benefit with wrestling is that you can produce those "analysis shows" in house as part of the post show or internet shorts that are thinly veiled "previously on" spots. Also, smaller stuff like match length can be prudent, especially with the way they book Okada, and it's become part of his gimmick. It's more a part of color commentary than anything else.
