Hopefully it goes well. Shida's team is really strong. They have lots of experience between all of them, and they're all in their prime. I'd of like it better if they'd booked Riho or Ryo on Aja and Yuka's team for a little more balance to get a higher level match.

The angle is that they are booked into this match. Storylines are important in wrestling but they aren't necessary right at the start of a feud, especially if Cody wants to run a more sports-oriented creative direction.
Most real fights in MMA or Boxing midcards are not booked for any specific reason other than the two guys in the fight are available on that date and the promotion thinks they'd put on a good show. Those initial fights can LEAD to feuds or beef between fighters, which can lead to main event level rematches, but they don't require any of that to get started. If you look at this match in "if it were real" terms, it makes perfect sense to have a "showcase" match of various foreign talents, especially for a brand new promotion.
