Lucha

I'm making the switch to Lucha guys. WWE has been fun and I'll still catch the big ppv events with you guys.

But Lucha is hella based
Im watching AAA REY DE REYES 2019 right now and I been watching CMLL too. I think my guys are Pentagon JR and Carístico

What are some other Lucha worth watching? Is there even a Lucha community on Yea Forums? I never see threads

The crowds seem to be WAY better too for Lucha, like they actually are having fun

I miss Lucha Underground.
Penta and Fenix are the best tag team on the planet.

yeah i'm not a huge lucha fan yet but I'm REALLY familiar with them just from being a wrestling fan. I've always liked Lucha for what it was and it's rich history but I'm going to start watching more and learning about it. I got a lot of extended family in mexico too so maybe one day I can get my cousins together and go watch an event one day.

The first season of LU was kino all troughout it. Rarely was I bored when I was binge watching it.

is it on youtube? that's how i've been watching CMLL and AAA events.

The first two seasons were on netflix but they pulled them off. I'm still sad about it.

There is some matches on youtube but you should watch the full episodes if you can. I think some streaming websites have them. Or you could get them via itunes or amazon.

oh damn they were on Netflix? I don't watch a lot of films so I don't use netflix enough i'll try and track them down.

I've noticed watching recently, Lucha has A LOT of six man matches, and Tag matches. And women seem to be pretty on par with the men in terms of being over with the crowd. There's also trans and gay wrestlers it's pretty open and progressive oddly enough compared to WWE.

The only lucha threads on here on are CMLLs Friday thread and occasional AAA threads when they decide to stream on twitch. Both AAA and CMLL upload stuff on their YT which I assume you know about already.

If you want to see occasional indie lucha check out youtube.com/user/mluchatv/videos
They stream shows sometimes, usually not the best quality.

If you want to see old school lucha check out youtube.com/user/rnrwrasslin/videos

If you want news and shit look at

thecubsfan.com/cmll/
As well as their twitters if thats your thing.

There's a community. Mainly in cmll friday show gamethreads. Monday and tuesday too sometimes. Usually if AAA is happening there's something.

thanks added both of those yt. I don't use Twitter i'm 30 years old . but thank you

I'm watching the AAA event and it's like...super theatrical idk who over half these people are but it's really fun and goofy. This Psycho Clown guy is fucking dope. idk if he's popular or not can't really tell, everybody seems so over except Jeff Jerret.

lol yeah Psycho Clown is the most over guy in Mexico

i've heard mixed stuff here about CMLL some say it's shit but it seems pretty down to earth and entertaining. AAA is just insanity, I have no idea wtf is going on it's just a bunch of tag matches and battle royals and shit.

Make sure to learn the Code of Masked Wrestling. They have it online if you don't have the book like everyone in Mexico does

Why the fuck is there no bell in Lucha? I swear I don't think I've ever heard a bell ring once

CMLL has their own old way of doing things. From 2/3 falls to the lower card being not too spectacular to the way they cater to tourist and one-timers. They are fairly formulaic and dont do new things often. Its something you should get used to if you want to watch em. I think when they do it right though its legit great.
AAA on the other hand tends to go balls out. Their openers and lower/mid card for example always try to kill themselves just to hype the crowd. Their Russo style booking and shows may turn you off though, along with other shit like production and just general dumb shit. I also personally cant stand Hugo screaming on commentary for 2 straight hours.

Both honestly require getting used to.

Yeah don't get me wrong i like this batshit crazy performance art i'm watching right now with REY DE REYES 2019. Reminds me of the attitude era or even ECW or something, it's really fun

but I see what you mean about CMLL, it seems very traditional? I guess the matches are pretty straight forward and from reading about them a little I guess they try to preserve the Lucha spirit.
Do Older people watch CMLL?

also *sorry for all the questions* but whats with them ripping the mask off all the time? I imagine it's a show of disrespect but it seems to happen A LOT, i'm just kind of confused I thought the mask were an important aspect.

Quick tip about Luchas, belts are worthless, no one cares about who's the main champion, the real deal are the hair and the masks.

Attached: cmll.png (220x222, 68K)

CMLLs audience, just judging from live crowds, is very mix. Young to old folks.
The mask ripping is disrespect and heat. You often hear asshole chants after them. Obviously they wont take it completely off unless they want a DQ. On AAAs side it also helps them bleed/blade if needed.

Okay I see I see
So the mask rip spot is like a show thing to push the heel character.

So these guys without mask compensate with hair? That's pretty based actually

thanks for the help guys

these like Mexican cowboy dudes Texano JR and whoever this other guy are are total fags holy shit. I hope they lose.

>So these guys without mask compensate with hair?
yes, is not as good as a mask but you can make the deal. There's times were the luchador gets rejected because his hair is not as important for la lucha de apuestas (like pic related) so the luchador needs to prob himself to for the match, by wining belts or apuestas.
When a luchador loses a mask, he needs to reveal his real name, the name of the family members, the place where he trained, shit is hard to do, some luchadores has taken his own life because of it like Fabián el Gitano.

>When a luchador loses a mask, he needs to reveal his real name, the name of the family members, the place where he trained, shit is hard to do, some luchadores has taken his own life because of it like Fabián el Gitano.

whoa that's fucking amazing. I like shit like that it adds lore and actually legitimizes the art form . It actually has integrity.

So like when you wear the mask you kind of go pure Kayfabe? Like how El Santo was buried in his mask and stuff.

Texano Jr is really big for a mexican guy but my god is he boring in the ring. Don't see how he's so popular out there.

Luchadors mask is essentially their identity/gimmick. Losing it is a big deal since they pretty much become a new person to their opponents and audience.

dude those guys were lames. I'm watching the final match I guess Fenix and Pentagon vs the Young Bucks and this is a god damn good match.

I have been sleeping on AAA

Also to add to this, the more a luchador wins mask vs mask/hair matches the more their own mask goes up in value.

The masks of Atlantis and LA park are the holy grail of masks now

this guys the goat

i'm watching Triplemania XXVI now.

kek @ those two sl00ts not even watching. thots truly are the same the world over

>whoa that's fucking amazing.

Attached: 1ezts8ku6hc01.png (231x250, 91K)

what's your problem?
I think tradition is important

Los Hell Brothers in AAA were fucking based

If you sub to AAA's twitch channel (english or spanish) you get all the vods.

>Enjoying stuff is cringe
State of your life

is Faby Apache based? I'm watching a match of hers right now and she seems pretty damn based.

Attached: faby.jpg (353x509, 134K)

She is based, she trains a lot of the luchadoras as well and her dad is a legend in the game. Her whole family is pretty based actually.

Buen thread

Attached: kemonitoboda.jpg (375x500, 41K)

She's based in my book.

Attached: faby.jpg (925x1200, 218K)

brutal

Watch Faby Apache vs. Lady Shani at the last Triplemania. She's unironically the best female wrestler in the world.
