50-50 booking means that people win or lose 50% of the time. Ensuring that if someone gets a big win over someone else, the loser then has to "get his win back" so they have a second match and the previous winner now loses.
Its a way to ensure that no one looks like a winner and everyone looks kinda like a loser.
