DX was a direct derivative of nWo. The nWo specifically Kevin Nash, Scott Hall & Syxx did the crotch chop regularly on television for about a year prior to D-Generation X even being formed. Scott Hall actually did it the night Hulk Hogan turned heel at Bash at the Beach 1996.

nWo was far more responsible than DX for greatest explosion in popularity this genre has ever seen...

DX in 1997 was destroyed by nWo. DX in 1998 was a midcard faction - nWo (Nash, Hall, Hogan, Savage) were true headliners - WCW was neck and neck with WWF throughout 1998.

Even nWo in 2002 drew better numbers than any DX run post 2005.
