Not at all, there were a lot of throwaway matches to build up for the main angle. You didn't have Austin vs. HHH every week, they wrestled other people. It's what made the PPV "must buy" to see the big match. Given how much more under/midcard talent there is nowadays, you'd think they'd learn how to book.

There are rumours of them wanting a ladder match at Mania so this could be a setup.
or as with Charles winning the SD womens title this could just be a way to have one less match at mania

No. Even with Hulk hogging the title in WCW, he had feuds with Big Show, Sting, Piper, Luger, Flair, Goldberg, DDP, Bret, Savage, Nash, Vampiro, and Billy Kidman to keep things fresh. Granted, a lot of the feuds sucked and were badly written, but there was some variance there.

Not like Riott Squad vs Sasha, Bayley and their third (Natty or Ember usually). profightdb.com/wrestlers/liv-morgan-11770.html. Imagine 5 months of working with the same people, taking 1 month off and then doing 3 more months of the same shit over and over again.

Bland split limits potential matchups

If Aleister doesn't turn on Ricochet at Wrestlemania, then creative doesn't know what to do with them.

If they're worried about too many matches on the card they could always simply not let them run longer than 10 minutes each aside from the final two matches. WM17 had a 12 match card, 2 hours of solid wrestling and a total runtime of 3 hours 45 minutes. Yet this mania will be 8 hours long because every match will be 15 minutes long with 4 hours of bloat.

It's a ready made short term entry feud for both people that have worked together enough to put on a couple of months worth of decent matches.
The noise level for them has been enough to peak interest since they came up.

They're only together as a tag team so they could win the Dusty Rhodes Classic and probably NXT tag champs. After Takeover they'll probably disappear from Raw until they're called up for real.

Fun fact: The Revival has only won one match since getting the titles, also this is will be the fifth time in a row that they faced Ricochet and Black, with only a brief intermission of losing to cruiserweights and Titus fucking O'Neil on goddamn Main Event.

Oh yeah I should've seen this coming. They're likely going to put a lot into their Takeover match. Doubt they'd be able to put on a good Mania match too, and they'll probably have something on RAW after Mania. Could definitely see them working too hard and having someone end up injured because of it.

The brand splits were fine when they were still running individual PPVs for each show. Once they went back to each PPV being cross brand it killed any feuds because now it’s a shit ton of wrestlers vying for a very small amount of matches on the card which just ends up with no real pay off and incentive to make the feuds enjoyable or spectacular.

I don't get it does Vince have to pay people more when they are on TV? They have shit tons of people on the shelf doing fuck all that they force to attend every show. It can't be to protect their records because tons of jobbers don't get used either.
