Why wasn't ECW able to make money?

Because this hotass man wasn't in it

(((Paul Heyman)))

Because you can only watch a guy get put through a flaming table so many times before it becomes boring

They didn't put the strap on CW Anderson.

Because Heyman is a con artist. No, it's nothing to do with him being a Jew. The man is just a walking con artist that doesn't know anything about wrestling.

At the time it was shit.
It did a few things right like cruiserweights nad letting the women wrestle but ultimately Heyman just cares about his own funds and happily fucked everyone over.

The reason people are so shocked by this is because a lot of the ECW people genuinely did love the job and talk about it in such a good way. Heyman is notorious for being a lying piece of shit that rewrites how fucked up he made the company.

Basically any of the people who wanted to improve fucked off and a few people like Dreamer stayed because Heyman convinced them nowhere else would accept them

Heyman used to try and keep talent from going to WWF as well. When Russo wanted the Dudleys and went through the official channels it always ended with Heyman answering for them that they were happy and content at ECW. Later the Dudleys set up a secret contact to move to WWF without Heyman getting involved.

Because WWF stole all their ideas, making them obsolete.

This

>promoter doesn't want their top talent leaving
wtf i hate Hayman now!!

>con artist scumbag says to other promoters they're on contract
>this is a lie
>g-good for Heyman!

The fuck is wrong with you defending this cunt?

It was a pretty fucked up situation on Heyman's behalf. He would fuck with their ability to make money elsewhere while not paying them consistently for their work.

Eh, it's certainly not upstanding but at least he was looking out for his company. If you want to rag on Heyman for something, how about the fact he gambled away hundreds of thousands of dollars regularly and couldn't pay the talent? The big picture is less that ECW couldn't make money, and more that Heyman couldn't keep and subsequently pay that money to his own fucking guys.

>he gambled away hundreds of thousands of dollars regularly
What?

Heyman in general is cunt, user.
Yes some things he's done are worst than others but ultimately all the bad things are bad.

He'd regularly blow money on investments quite often

That's according to New Jack anyway. He'd hit Vegas with Todd Gordon or someone and suddenly every guy on the roster would be short on pay. One week he owed Jack eight grand and sent some crony to give him $500 immediately after one of these 'trips'. Sure Jack's nuts but if I can buy him taking one thing seriously it's money.

t. never actually watched ecw

misappropriation of funds

I bet they could've made good money on the games if they went with literally anybody but Acclaim for them. Who the fuck wanted to play another clone of WWF Attitude in late 2000?

They had no dime drawers like pic related

because Paul Heyman is the only jew in the world who is shit with money

I've watched a ton of shoots with ex-ECW guys and my conspiracy theory: Paul was brought in by WWF to turn ECW into an eternal minor league. Apparently Heyman was even at the meetings where WWF discussed buying WCW which happened before ECW even folded. Dreamer also talked about getting a tv offer in the 100s of millions but Heyman didn't bite because he'd have to surrender control of the company. They could all just be lying but who knows

Pretty sure heyman couldn't budget worth a shit. Also the network fucked them over and dropped them for WWF which was what killed ECW.

100s of millions are cool and all but I think history has given us enough insight to know how a ECW with no Heyman would've turned out. If he kept creative control it would've been a great deal but no millionaire was about to offer a deal like that.

The TNN stuff seems pretty overplayed listening to Heyman and co talk about it, it wasn't a great deal but I can't buy the narrative they were set up to fail, that seems more like Heyman justifying the shit ratings and on air rivalry than anything. Had they handled it a bit better than screaming KICK US OFF THE AIR REEEEE every week another network might have been interested in picking them up and working with them.

The network never fucked them over at all; this is just Heyman's revisionist history.
Fucking Vince had to bail him out several times.

Heyman is a useless con artist and he's literally Dave Meltzer but owned a company instead of owned a blog
