How does climbing advance the limits of what humans are capable of in a meaningful way? How can you apply the skills you learn climbing in any other context, other than uhhh it teaches discipline and mindfulness etc. (shit you can take away from literally any hobby.)
I've never done rock climbing on actual rocks but I did a lot of climbing courses in boy scouts. I remember one time at this outdoor climbing wall the instructor asked for a volunteer to do an ascension with just the rope and no touching the wall. Shit was brutal on my puny 12 yr old arms but I felt a real sense of accomplishment doing what no one else wanted to do.
Also questioning if something advances the limits of what humans are capable of in a meaningful way could be said of pretty much any sport/hobby. The only thing that matters is that you get something out of it be it strengthening your mind, your body, or being a scrawny 12yr old kid who did something that made him not feel so scrawny.
