It hurts like a motherfucker and bruises you up. Anyone else into dudes hitting them with intensity and not pussying out? Any particular guys who really go for it?
Anyone else appreciate how guys run the ropes?
‘95/‘96 Shawn Michaels was the Michaels of rope running
Bret ran the ropes really well. He's talked about how he knew he was a smaller guy so when he hit the ropes he did it with tons of velocity so it would be believable.
Thanks i'll check them out
Carder was fucking great in his day too. His comebacks when he was in WWE before he was a cripple looked great
Forgot gif
Others run the ropes just as well (Taker, Shawn, etc) but none look as fucking crazy as Brock does.
Funny thing is despite being one of the best ever at it (among many things in the ring) he almost never actually runs the ropes in his matches due to how they're laid out.
When will the big boys reign again lads?
based
How exactly would that hurt
You can literally see the indent on his pale ass ginger skin, that's how it's done.
Hitting the ropes is underappreciated. It's also not a skill most pay attention to. Bret and HBK attacked the ropes
william regal goat
Running the ropes messes you up especially if you don't know how. When they first start out they have to learn how to do it properly and they're covered in bruises on their sides. You're essentially hitting tightened rope designed to take guys like Show or whoever hitting them.
Yeah agreed. 'Attacked;' is the perfect word for it.
How guys do it adds so much more to the intensity. Seth's look shit.
They are metal cables pulled taut as fuck. All of the bending you see comes from their weight and the force they put into it. But some guys go full force and throw themselves full pelt into those cables.
Hitting the ropes like a diva. Embarrassing.
>run full speed at them
>slows down right before hitting them
faggiest shit.
He's wearing fucking combat gear too and he still pussied out
I run the Ropes every Saturday
It doesn't hurt.
Now the CORNERS, they hurt.
WWE uses actual ropes which is even worse because there's less bounce to them. It's dangerous af if people don't know what they're doing.
Reigns is ok but in this gif he was probably gassed after his shit Carder match. Other gifs he's nothing special
WWE’s are rope.WCW’s were elevator cable covered in a rubber sheath. You can tell which are which by watching shitters walk/springboard from them. Everyone, even shitters will force rope climbing into their matches once it’s cable. Rope is better, it’s less uncomfortable when hitting it and it makes for less shitters flipping off of it, WWE chose right.
There’s one event from the UK in the early 2000’s with Taker vs HHH. Taker hit the ropes and they snapped, it’s pretty fucking scary. It’s not until you see that shit that you realize how much something can go wrong.
Bradshaw was great despite the mouse sized gif
Austin running to the ropes was a thing of beauty, just watch any match of him.
Damn I forgot how fast he was before he got lazy.
Yeah I watched WM14, 15 and 17 recently. He's fucking great. Just imagine an Austin match where the crowd is wild but he hits the rope like a girl. Just wouldn't be the same.
I like phil but his always looked shit
It looked shit because he was shit
Reigns has that fucking vest. He better be running the ropes well
Has anyone else other than Enzo been hurt by them?
Dynamite Kid and Foley but both were freak accidents unlike Enzos green ass
What am I looking at? How did his head get under the top rope?
He clears the ring in two steps. Nuts.
The dude who Rey 619'd in Mexico a few years back hit his neck on them and was killed outright.
Who’s he close lining? Is that Billy Gunn?
Also Matt got bad
whiplash during that money in the bag ladder match with E&C but again that was an accident because both Jeff and Him bounced off of them at the same time
Did Shamrock get up after this or was he knocked out?
Is this on video tape?
I hate Pajeets
WOAT
Does he still do this or did the agents finally tell him how cringe this is?
THE WACKYLINE
You might find it on Youtube or failing that dailymotion. Dude straight up dies as soon as he breaks his neck on the rope. He was called Hijo del Perro Aguayo
Are there any women who actually hit the ropes well?
Kenny Omega hits them well desu
No.
He does. Naito isn't too shabby either
I can't think of anyone. Maybe the japs like Io or Asuka if they made them hit them hard in the dojos or wherever. Even a big girl like Nia's look shit
Brock's fucking terrifying.
Owen Hart.
I like watching Soberano cause he does it lefty. I just find it neat looking and always sticks out to me.
>wrestler takes more than 2 steps to run the ropes
Sasha Banks is the worst on the ropes. Her and Brie
Not bad. I'm guessing those are cables and he looks like a skinny lad. Pretty satisfying like you say tho
Why do they always do this sequence
The coroners said it s the dropkick that killed him, not the 619
-5 stars
whos the dude with the hair
and why do those japanese wrestlers look 15 and 130lbs
That's actually some based flippy
holy fucking based
what year was this? seems like a comfy timeline
Part of me hopes this was Vince's idea and not him being full retard
Soberano needs to gain weight and build some muscle, he's pretty good, but lacks of look
it was real life bug
The wackyline has always been shit, even when Nigel McGuinness used to do it in ROH and all the smarks thought it was wrestling at its finest.
He hates that move, the Agents are the ones who keep telling him to use that move, even when he was a heel
Late 2000s smackdown Taker was kino
95 or 96
that beautiful triple haytch hair tho
Kek
You simps got it all wrong, the Rock running the ropes was the best, followed by micheals in 2nd.
The Rocks Rope run during the peoples elbow is the greatest.
ted dibiase was based at rope running
It's called the "International." The idea of it is to establish face/heel dynamics for people who don't know the story line.
thats how everyone hits the ropes now, flat black and no intensity or purpose
rock was fucking great especially when he jumped into it
Lol he doesn't even hit the rope. He just lightly taps it and then runs
It was Christmas '97.
I'm also upset at seeing Barrett throw a punch. Why not just go for the Bullhammer right there?
Running the ropes is retarded.
Watching all the women embarrass themselves really makes me appreciate the art of rope running
Earthquake was the king of running the ropes
Vince snapped back his neck and hit the back of his head into the mat once
>Why not just go for the Bullhammer right there?
because he didn't turn the elbow pad inside out yet
Bradshaw was fucking based
Clothesline from Hell was great!
the twinks of today are literally too small and too light to hit the ropes properly
We live in a timeline where the wrestlers have the same problems the women have
>5:42 on the second video
Look at that dive over the ropes though
Never really looked at the ropes this way, I will say. Thanks OP. Good thread.
You can see a lot of it in the documentary on Netflix called Lucha Mexico. You can’t see the drop kick, but you can see him hanging lifeless on the rope and rey kneeling down to check on him and getting the referee to stop the match
Womens inability to run the ropes is unironically a huge part of why I can't stand it.
Unironically Melina
This desu. I suspect this and their complete lack of physical strength is partially to blame for why the women’s rumble took so fucking long this year. you could tell they struggle with all aspects of the ropes
>using it for a flying knee
Based Bork
>It hurts like a motherfucker and bruises you up.
Have you ever run ropes? If you do it right none of that happens and you can hit it hard as you want. Still, it is a little thing I appreciate.
That was a great dive tho tbqh
Everyone does. It's always 4 steps total with the pivot.
Literally everyone does
holy fucking based
i don't think he's a pussy, because he does a dive moments later and that's WAY scarier
Based as fuck
Soberano is dimes
funny how the least hardass wrestler of the 2000s got to fight in UFC not once but twice
>jumping is scary
ok fatass
Masato Yoshino, check him out.
youtube.com
Man he hates Braun.
he's trying to protect his spot
that's why he has stinkers against bigger guys but works hard against smaller ones
he knows the smaller ones aren't competition because they would generally appeal to two different audiences
As much shit Brock gets for not apparently caring enough about wrestling, he cares enough to put shitters like Braun in their place.
Bullshit excuse, if Rey can hit the middle rope like a madman so can they.
It's easy to blame it on that but it's absolutely a training issue, in 90s AJW even opening match shitters jobbing to Aja Kong go flying off the ropes like it's nothing. Anybody of any size can learn to do it but they can also learn to do it wrong.
yes, i'm sure the reason he's stiffed braun a couple of times is because he cares about the business.
When you hit the ropes you are suppose to but your elbow above the top rope to stop your body from slipping between the top and middle
lol
I think I actually saw this live
He's got good height so bulking aint a bad idea. At the same time though his lankyness sticks him out from the regular cmll luchadors atm.
Seeing that gif reminds me of how Cena hits the ropes so well, guys like him and Randy still trained by the old school guys still value hitting the ropes and warm up doing it before the match or during the other guys entrance or commercial break.
Minimum effort, maximum output.
I give some women a little leeway (Although most of them are dogshit at it.) on that stuff cause of how short they are. It must be rather awkward to hit the ropes at neck height rather then around the shoulders/underarms that most males do. And most of them lack the weight to make them bend. So even if they really want to hit them hard it might look like shit anyway. Although im surprised more of them dont try to learn to run the middle rope like Mysterio does.
Quake made it look good cause it looks like he goes in at a really steep angle to really put his weight into it. He does it casually here then at more full speed a minute later for the earthquake.
>turns a based cutter into a faggy armdrag
Lol flippy shit is an eternal mistake
Vanilla gorillas don't draw.
It doesn't even make sense given how momentum works
>less uncomfortable
Nah, modern wrestling, especially lucha libre, is oversaturated with dudes doing cutter variations, I get sick of them.
that is a fast white boy (no flippy)
is that Wrestlemania 33?
jeeeez
yes.
finnna network it up
he got up, shawn was laughing at him also
Saw him live and can confirm. Every time he hits the ropes, it’s like the smaller indie ring is going to collapse because he’s just putting his entire force behind it.
It looks like a 2k rope glitch.
Feeling like a brainlet but who is that running the ropes against Animal?
This thread is making me think that running the ropes is a genuine wrestling redpill. I cannot unsee anything discussed in this thread now.
Is there any woman wrestler who runs the ropes like a real star?
Undertaker lol
Okay, thought so.
Chris hero
And who is who in that situation?
>white people aren't athletic
Unironically Tessa Blanchard is actually great.
Absolutely. Bork, take, Cena come to mind. Think maybe rock is goat tho, people's elbow. It's a fucking power move that shows dominance, sets the tone with the crowd. It's all but lost now in the e.
Cena didn't get enough credit. But yeah Rock was great
Ironically enough, he constantly rides guys for not hitting them hard enough
WWE wrestlers these days hit the ropes like shit. No intensity, no attack, no aggression. Do they use shittier ropes or are they just lazy fucks?
I always think it's so fucking cool when he bounces on the ropes several times to land a spear. It has a very dbz power up vibe to it.
Roman is basically the Goku of WWE.
That simp got what he deserved for no selling Brock.
The theatrics of the people's elbow are so great.
The gif only shows like half of the full sequence but likely Animal as he's doing the high spot.
It's mmmmmmmean mmmmark
Mmmmmm
>combat gear
buries and no sells
bruan
deanetty
Sells for and puts over
roman
seth
BASED
Also puts in effort for Joe, DB, AJ, Finn, and didn't even want to bother with Jinder
Did anyone want him to bother with Jinder?
Yea Forums did, but literally no one else did. Not even Indians.
