Going to a CMLL show I feel like would be considered a "normal" thing to do in Mexico, since Lucha Libre is so ingrained in Mexico's culture. You have history, too. I can almost guarantee you that if you were to tell a Mexican "hey lets go to a CMLL show!" they'd be down. Same would go for Japan. I feel like in both of those countries, there's no "LOL WRESTLING SUX ITS GAY LOL MAN SWEATY DURRR" bullshit. Meanwhile here (US), you can't say "hey lets go to a WWE or RoH show!" because they wouldn't know what the fuck that is, and once you tell them its wrestling, they'll cringe.

All of my friends love WWF/WCW, and we have good laughs when we talk about that time period (wrestling boom in US) but trying to show them NJPW is tough since it's so much different than WWE. A few of them have said they'd be interested in going to the MSG show, but once I tell them tickets are like $75+, I don't think they'll want to anymore.

Mexican here, yep, its not cringe going to CMLL and AAA shows, because people say and think "Its a show and also is cultural" because of the masks, exoticos, little luchadores like kemonito, BUT when you say that you watch WWE people reacts in a way that you look cringe and weirdo. Btw, going to Arena México its great, after the show you can go to a nearby local cantina and maybe you can meet a luchador.
