Unfortunately, it's only been in the last few years that, especially for women, it's become easier to 'make it big'. Every national USA company has invested heavily in a women's division, and now with AEW there's another one. The are more women indies with easier viewing access across the world. Japan (Stardom especially) has given a platform for many women to get over. There's just more opportunities with more exposure now than then.
