– Kenny Omega discussed NJPW’s practice of not bringing women’s wrestling into their product during a new interview. Omega took on the topic during an interview with Tokyo Sports and said that he believes New Japan should get a women’s division up and running.
“What I think that New Japan is lacking these days is that girls can’t be part of the game,” he said (thanks to Fightful for the translation). “At the CEOxNJPW event that I participated in last year, I proposed to New Japan to put up a girls match. After all it was refused, because, ‘It’s New Japan’. It is 2019 now. I think that women and men should be on the same stage, and most of the women who I think are good are in Japan.”
There are a variety of points used by fans and analysts in the debate over why New Japan doesn’t incorporate women’s wrestling. One of the most common arguments is that it’s simply not something that New Japan fans have ever demanded, so there is no impetus to bring them in. Others have suggested that New Japan instituting a women’s division would decimate the rosters of joshi promotions like STARDOM, Ice Ribbon, Sendai Girls Pro Wrestling and the like, who have found success promoting a product that NJPW has no influence in.
Omega noted in the interview that he suggested Aja Kong and Yuka Sakazaki for AEW’s Double Or Nothing show, and has been in conversation with freelancers such as Ryo Mizunami of Pro Wrestling WAVE.
“For example Ryo Mizunami is a wonderful wrestler.” Omega said. “I’m not only talking with DDT and OZ (Academy) but also with WAVE and Gatoh Move. I’m also talking to freelancers. I also want to talk to various organizations.”

I think the worst thing about Kenny is that I do/did legitimately enjoy his matches, the guy is an ultra talented wrestler. Thing is out of the ring he is one of the most annoying personalities I can think of. He comes off like an ultra carny/victim in all of his interviews.
