Rodney Greenblatt’s Lost Parappa/Lammy Videos
thanks for posting. Been wanting to get more into the parappa games and lammy was always the one that hooked me the most, but talking about this game online is like playing with a schizoid/tranny magnet.
I'm really really happy to see this happening, it's too good to be real. I didn't think we would get to see the characters interviews ever again...
I can't thank Rodney enough for saving these videos from lost-media hell
Do you think guys there is still some hope to find one day Um Jammer Lammy Now!?
nice, lets hope this thread doesnt get infested by fat fetish niggers
its a shame lammy threads on Yea Forums are impossible now without getting invaded by /trash/ secondaries
alright niggers instead of the thread being predominantly us complaining about the worst actors of this board, lets actually talk about the games
>is lammy intended to be a million times easier than parappa?
>is lammy intended to be a million times easier than parappa?
i actually thought it was harder but that's probably because i was emulating it
The games are pretty on-par with each other, with the difficulty spike in each being the cake level and Vital Idol.
in parappa i always got filtered by the driving test stage, but i think i got all the way to the end when i originally played lammy.
youre right, sorry about that
how do I beat the chicken
Hey, this is pretty neat. So did he just have the files lying around somewhere? I know the Katy interview showed up on the (defunct?) NanaOn-Sha site a while back but no one was able to find the other videos.
cute
Does this mean she's coming back?
>15 entire minutes of cutscenes of the beta Lammy design, the first time she's ever been seen with expressions instead of the single known draft in the old 'evolution of the character' image
HOLY SHIT
>everyone clapping along with the song on the Japanese tv show
awesome
Yes, they knew Parappa 1 was too hard and the timing was off. IIRC for Parappa 2 they even had a 'Rodney mode' when testing internally so people who just aren't good at videogames- e.g. Greenblat- could still play through the songs and make sure everything looked and sounded right.
Worst song in the franchise.
There's always /vr/. This'd probably be right up their alley, actually.
>half forgotten PS1 game's artist uploads lost media/beta content 20 years later
also the /vr/ janitors sometimes do a decent job killing garbage while letting the actual good parts of a thread stay up
>played guitaroo man on a psp emulator first before playing on an actual ps2 and was almost filtered
that explains a lot honestly, gathddamn. might just boot up parappa 2 today then.
I have the Um Jammer Lammy CD from decades ago it's cool to see what parts of that 15 minute beta made it into it youtube.com
No, Lammy's guitar clips are off rhythm from the melody to get the lines right and the lines are much longer than Parappa 1. The chainsaw song and hell song don't even sound right when you're doing them correctly. Plus when you're in bad and awful they start covering up the melody and song more than parappa ever did making it sound awful and hard to focus
>Um Jammer Lammy Now
Explain
I haven't finished watching the 15 minute video yet, does it have stuff that isn't just placeholder VAs? Makes sense if they reused some of it for the album, that's pretty cool. God I love Katy's singing voice.
Oh, it's not an emulation thing really, Parappa 1 just has really weird timing even on physical hardware. Gitaroo Man is a totally different beast and can be strict with its inputs but the PSP port is perfectly fine (unlike Parappa's) and PPSSPP is one of the fastest damn emulators out there.
Burn in hell niggerbitch
was just about to post this youtube.com
Arcade game that was basically the VS mode but with plastic guitars, predating guitar hero
>when you're in bad and awful they start covering up the melody and song more than parappa ever did making it sound awful and hard to focus
it's to simulate lammy having an autistic fit
UJL Now! also has some extra cutscenes that are still lost, IIRC.
You guys might like this video of the Um Jammer Lammy launch party in 1999 where they had a concert of songs from both games. youtube.com
I have never made it more than two minutes into that video without having to close it from secondhand embarassment.
>ppsspp
im fucking retarded. i meant ps2, pcsx2 is absolutely bogged.
yeah its definitely time for me to dedicate a day to these games. Ive been hard at gittin gud at the genesis sonics and once thats been put to rest its time to get to parappa and guitaroo man.
That's a shame.
STEP ON STEP ON BRAKES?!
>beat Um Jammer Lammy
>unlock Parappa where he raps to remixes of the songs
Kino. Only bad thing is that his audio is obviously lower quality than Lammy's guitar samples
Arcade version of the game with extra levels (?) and new cutscenes
There's hardly any info about it, this picture is probably one of the few evidences of its existence.
I remember hearing some rumors about a famous UK tv presenter having the arcade in his house, I forgot who.... It has been a long time since I read, it would be nice if he showed gameplay or something...
>haven't seen a single post about any of this on Parappa plebbit, twitter, etc
>would have never known if not for this thread
do people really only care about the porn?
youtube.com
Why were the cutscenes in Parappa mode so low framerate? Did it barely fit on the disc?
>haven't seen a single post about any of this on Parappa plebbit, twitter, etc
This franchise isn't very popular so I'm not surprised, the news will probably snowball from here though
>do people really only care about the porn?
The few lammyfags I've seen outside of Yea Forums were very clearly Yea Forums faggots just from the way they typed, it's just a very vocal minority of people that we unfortunately have to share a board with. I don't think anyone outside of here finds these characters sexual in any capacity
It's Warwick Davis, we don't have footage because he can't reach the controller
>played Parappa 1 and Um Jammer Lammy multiple times
>still haven't played Parappa 2
One day...
Parappa 2 arguably the best game in the series solely based on gameplay since the input delay issues from the PS1 games were fixed
>the news will probably snowball from here though
Some of the videos are going on a month old, aren't they? If they haven't made it around yet they probably won't. I'm downloading them anyway though just in case something happens to Rodney's channel.
>very clearly Yea Forums faggots
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? It seems like on the greater internet mentions of Lammy are either endless porn or political hijacking, while Yea Forums is either pure degeneracy or also the only place more obsessed with just holding her hand.
>I don't think anyone outside of here finds these characters sexual in any capacity
They totally do.
That post was a bit of a giant hyperbole but I was having trouble trying to word it, I'm not surprised that this went unnoticed for a while because outside of nostalgia I don't think there's a giant following for Parappa anymore. But since OP found this word of mouth might spread and it'll probably get picked up on the other websites.
>Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
YMMV but I find the people who act like they're on Yea Forums 24/7 fucking obnoxious, I sort of meant that the Lammy obsessed people all seem to stem from here in some capacity and it's obvious most of the time.
Why did Lammy go to Hell instead of Heaven?
Parappa has always been a relatively niche franchise. Its only has 3 games since 2001, after all
Jonathan Ross apparently.
My uncle's actually a pretty prolific UK TV personality but I don't think he knows him sadly. Shame because I'd kill to just even see this in person.

Fright Flight is worse honestly, it just never stuck with me.
Parappa's Version is one of the best songs in Lammy though
Oh, yeah, there definitely isn't much of a following at this point. Even the nostalgia wave fueled by the remaster a few years back (the one that seemingly gave every vidya news site a free "I Still Can't Beat Cheap Cheap" article) has largely died out again.
> I sort of meant that the Lammy obsessed people all seem to stem from here in some capacity and it's obvious most of the time.
Sorry. Spend enough time here and you forget how to have normal conversations and that most people don't consider '*-fag' as a term of familiarity.
Any plane landing you can walk away from is a good landing.
>Spend enough time here and you forget how to have normal conversations
No, I think he means people who greentext or parrots buzzwords like "based", "soul" or "kino" outside of Yea Forums
Like, It's already cringe when people do it here but people who talks like that outside of this site is totally embarrassing to read
>greentexting outside imageboards
absolutely disgusting
i mean, the people destined to say internet lingo outside the internet were fucked from the beginning. Thats not just something you "grow into", its a trait of existing mental illness like 99% of all our behaviors
I fucking hate that this site has infected the greater internet with shitty buzzwords and wojak cancer, I can barely fucking stand it here as is
Hip bones!
As a regular on /vr/ lol @ the spoiler
Neat.
I did say 'sometimes.'
