Rediscovered my old folder full of Crash pics from back in the comfy CTR:NF days. Good times. I miss all the speculation and shitposts about what was coming next month.

It definitely was. Much like Twinsanity, WoC was supposed to be a radically different game in the early days before Universal bungled everything up as usual. Mark Cerny was the guy who originally pitched the original idea, but Universal was weary of changing the formula too much after ND left.

I honestly hate the art direction of the latest games. That sort of lighting and shading looks horrible on these cartoony characters.

Honestly I'm not sure user, my hope for a PC release for NF is pretty much gone at this point but there was this user a couple threads back that made posts about how the ps1 ctr is 90% decompiled and is getting ported to pc and has mods so that's better than nothing imo

Not to mention the Memetics behind Sanic autism being entirely down to Journalists gaslighting newfags about the series in 2007 combined with it being the year that contact with Chrischan was made.

>crash has always been portrayed as a goofy shlutz never seen as the epitome of cool

Crash 2 is the best non-spinoff Crash game. Crash 4 was mediocre. It wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't really make me excited or anything. All hype I had for it was only because it was the first actual new Crash game in many years, but it wasn't groundbreaking. It just felt like a reimagining of WoC.

God I miss the CTR times so much. Hopefully they bring it back, but they probably won't. It's a shame they killed the game off so quickly.

I don't know why but everything about CTRNF gives me a similar feeling to nostalgia. I know it's not nostalgia, since it hasn't been that many years yet, but the giddy happy feelings I got when the game was out, hearing the music, seeing the polish and the visuals, I miss it all.

Ami was the only one who did, because they wanted to confirm she's the best by giving her the most boobs, but it was gone by the time the game went live. But still: animated bicep flexes.

One of the few modern games I played where the devs clearly poured their hearts into it. It was also great to see Crash have such a great new title again. If only they had the resources to fix online.

I'd say Crash not being the end-all "official" PS1 mascot also had to do with that. He was used in advertising a lot, yes, but his series had to share space with a lot of other big fish in the pond (Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, Symphony of the Night, Silent Hill, Tomb Raider all just to name a few). It only got exacerbated in Gen 6 when he went multiplat, only to have to play second fiddle to either Mario, Master Chief, or PS2 jumpstarts like Dante, Sora, and Kratos depending on your console of choice.

Do you have the art for Twilight Tour? Beenox had better environment designers than Toys for Bob imo. They captured that classic Crash look better.

You know maybe you would know, are there any Gecko codes for dolphin to disable some of the built in framerate throttling in wrath of cortex? I feel like the game would probably play better if it didn't guzzle your inputs, and I can't imagine the situation being better on xemu/pcsx2

Honestly I think it's worth a shot to fully complete WoC, more fun than IAT imo like you said.
I'm surprised to hear you've 100% enter the dragonfly because of the reputation it gets, I think it wasn't that bad either and had some pretty nice skyboxes that I liked just like in the original spyro games.

Sadly i'm not too sure user, what version of WoC are you playing? As if you're playing PAL I think there's a gecko code to enable the 60hz mode or you might have better luck going into dolphin's advanced options and enabling CPU override to maybe 50-80% or thereabouts

I got NTSC-U for PS2 and Gamecube. I've tried the cpu overclock, but the issue is that the throttling seems to be the game itself doing it.

I've played both and 100%'d both.
Hero's Tail honestly wasn't bad. That turret missions are kind of meh and the second phase of Blink's missions were slow but otherwise it was fine. Sgt Byrd speedways were fun.
Getting all the gems in Twinsanity was a lot of fun except for some of the more fucky puzzles but it was still good.

Can this meme die already? Coming off 100%ing both it is clear that 2 is leagues better than 1. It looks better, controls better, has better voice acting, and has better music.

Nice hearing you had a good time playing them both user. I'm with you on hero's tail not being that bad, it's humor was pretty bag for me most of the time but gameplay wise it surprised me how fun it was.
Twinsanity is a little similar humor wise but it had some good moments and yea some of the puzzles were awful, the ones in the 10th dimension come to mind there
