It's called convergent evolution you dumbfucks.
My pro controller never had drifting issues
Lie
Same.
Guessing people are just shitty and don't take care of their controllers.
My original joycons still don't drift
Not my problem.
I’m not lying. Literally never had an issue out of it unlike my joycons
This thing sucks the Bluetooth receiver is the cheapest garbage they could have used and if you're not directly in line with the dongle the connection drops off. I had my switch on a cupboard next go my bed hooked up to a projector on the same shelf and the connection would always stop unless I literally stood on my bed and held the controller in line with the receiver
I've had my PC for two years, have used it for PC gaming as well and have never had drifting issues at all. Maybe I just dont grip like a retard though.
My Pro Controller had some very minor drift but a bit of rubbing alcohol fixed it. Didn't even disassemble the thing, just applied some alcohol around the base of the affected stick and rotated.
Why are they all like this, without exception?
I have seen details about this controller. Basically it determines the position of the analog stick by seeing the variation of the magnetic field instead of using potentiometers to determine the variation of the electric current.
It's the same technology used in older controllers such as the Saturn one.
The problem of the current controllers are the potentiometers then at first this controller won't have drift, but it is a Chinese product so it is likely that the sensors have other problems in the future...
Women are never not looking for that upgrade.
I was going to ask about that since I don't have any Switch controllers. My Xbone controller worked for 4 years before getting some drift and isopropyl alcohol fixed that right up. I just figured most complaints about drift were either people slamming controllers or never cleaning them.
My pro controller never had drifting issues, but every single person I know who bought a switch (including me) have drifting joycons. They are basically fucking unusable.
haha that's pretty funny i'll give her that... and a bit more if she wants haha just kidding... unless?
Read the fucking article
-Third-party
-Dumb name "GuliKit KingKong Pro 2 "
-lithium battery, when other controller have AA batteries
Drift is inevitable with use.
Even if you live in a sterile environment where there aren't any dust particles in the air that will inevitably get inside the controller while you play, accumulating on the potentiometers and fucking everything up, you're still subject to drift from wearing parts.
The only solution to the problem is to stop using the current potentiometers and use other solutions, such as the optical used in the N64 or magnetic used in the Sega Saturn and older versions of the Dualshock.
that can't be an Xbox controller, its d-pad doesn't look absolutely retarded.
>
>concave d-pad
you're just proving my point.
You ain't foolin anyone you fuckin retard
It's got the same dpad as the xblx one controller in an xbox series x controller shell
Make no mistake, drift in controllers is an engineering problem. The industry has decided that the default design must be one that isn't good for the consumer because it's too susceptible to failure.
For some reason this design must be worth it to them, just watch Nintendo offering free support and lying in court all the time to get away with it, while keeping the same problematic design in every new version of the Switch.
Apparently risks of million-dollar lawsuits and angry consumers worldwide isn't enough to make the current shitty design be abandoned.
Sometimes I wonder if people use the thumbsticks like fucking gorillas or intentionally leave them out to collect dust in the gaps.
Pic related, 6 year old controller that had the joystick rubber completely eroded on both stick sand replaced from use - barely any drift in calibration and doesn't exist in-game.
Because they're all property without exception and until men relearn this truth we're doomed
This is just a joke right? This is literally just the same shell probably made at the same shitty chinese factory.
>leave them out to collect dust in the gaps
I had no idea I was supposed to cover it or put it in a case, although I almost constantly use mine.
Wow, sell a solution to the problem you created! Thanks Nintendo, I'll take 20!
Yes, dust is bad for electronics. Take care of your stuff and it will last longer, it's not difficult.
I don't even consider myself to take good care of my controllers, and I still never have issues with them.
My joycon started having problems after 2 fucking weeks of use. Stop defending this shit, modern controllers are all defective and the guys are getting away with it for now by blaming the consumers like you are doing.
I didn't say anything about joycons you stupid illiterate fucking monkey.
I can't speak for anything but the xbox controllers, but I think it's just poor QA. I know I went through a couple xbone controllers because each one failed in a new way.
It's a shame because I had the same 360 controller for OVER 10 years, and abused the fuck out of it, and the only issue I ever had was, before I retired her, the return springs on the sticks just wore out to the point where they wouldn't stay upright anymore, and when you set it down it just went googley-eyed.
I bought the xbone thinking it would just be the same thing but newer, but holy shit I went through 3 in a year, and those things never took any hit harder than tossing it onto the cushion next to me when I got up to take a piss.
I have the series x controller now, with the clicky d-pad, and so far its held up pretty well, and feels more solid in my hands.
Fuck this shit I'll post about this fucking controller before anyone buys it.
I bought this for PC.
-the quality control is shit I've bought 3
-2 had a sticky keys if you pressed them even lightly or rapid fire they would get stuck
-the lb and rb felt different on all 3 as well
-IF YOU DECIDE TO GET ONE, I'm going to post a webm of an issue I had on all three controllers, this happened when I was playing 2d games and pretty much anything that required holding the dpad left or right
+The sticks, the sticks are great, they are accurate as fuck and even thought they feel kind of rough in the beginning they smooth out the more I use the controller. Best way to describe them is they feel like xbox sticks mixed with dualsense.
+the dpad, it feels good
+ If you liked the xbox series X triggers, you will like these. They have that similar thumpy feedback minus the little grip bumps
Only get this if you want the sticks and that sort of xbox feel.
I'm still using mine and have no issues, but I'm still testing it since I got mine last month.
If you do get one, be sure to update it on the chink website they have.
-cont-
>OP discovers every controller is a copy of a copy
nice way to prove you are underage OP
>3 pairs of joycons of varying age and a pro controller
>none of them drift
one day you faggots will realize you got scammed by shitposters
And if you plan on getting it for some side 2d gaming I'd hold off because of this issue.
If you hold the DPAD LEFT OR RIGHT while doing multi inputs (I still have to test if it's just one button or both) the dpad deregisters for a milisecond
Dpad A+B
Dpad B+X
It's happened to the left and the right side of the Dpad. It does not happen to the top or bottom.
This causes issues in games because you will either jump in place, stop running like in castlevania cotm.
This happened before the firmware update and after, and with each of my 3 controllers.
This is why IF YOU DECIDE TO BUY ONE
be aware of this.
ALL controllers use exactly the same technology in analog sticks, retarded. My Xbox One controllers began to drift after a few months, as well as the Dualshock 4.
And before you talk shit about "gorillas breaking their electronics", before the current shitty potentiometers I never had problems with controllers, using the same ones for 5+ years was something common for me.
Thanks user, very enlightening.
the only ones that have ever drifted for me were 360 ones
not saying it doesn't happen on others but 360 analogs were fucking shit
What's special about these joysticks that prevent drifting?
So just your average misleading chinkshit
i thought it was a meme, but analog stick drift has finally claimed my joycons. I don't like the pro controller, not sure what to do with my Switch now
I've legit never heard of drifting pro controllers, I love mine.
Joycons are another story, I fixed mine with contact cleaner
They're using a different sensor when pretty much every other controller on the market uses the same one. That fact feels really absurd when you get $200 'pro' controllers that are still using 20c sensors for the sticks
change the stick module yourself, they're dirt cheap online OR get one can of WD40 electrical contact cleaner and spray inside the stick mechanism OR also try this method youtu.be
my pro controller started drifting after five years and the stick boxes very very dusty and full of tiny fine hair, probably my cat's. put some non conducting contact cleaner in and somehow managed to fry the board.
Nintendo always had shit analogue sticks. I remember the n64 and GameCube drift. PlayStation had best controllers in ps1/ps2/ps3 gen but PS4 and PS5 controllers are shit.
is dualshock good for retro games? just want a controller where the d-pad is aligned with the face buttons instead of the left analog
>PS3
lmao
I had PS3 day 1 EU March 23rd 2007 with the no rumble controller and it still works perfectly
What gamepad? I use it with a Wii U Pro Controller and it works perfectly all across the room.
I have an early version of the thing, though, so they may have changed the internals in a revision.
they're cheap online but the battery life is shit and the micro USB cable is annoying and the port breaks a lot, if you don't mind neither of these issues go for it
>Nintendo gravitated to the "Xbox Layout"
>Which was lazily repurposing the Dreamcast controller for the dualstick standard.
>Xbox layout is the "default" for some reason despite being ergonomically shitty and an afterthought
I never trust third party controllers
No drift issues, but the dpad is fucking terrible.
>people start talking about some new chinkshit controller
>user out there being a fucking CHAMPION and giving all the other Yea Forumsirgins a great rundown
You're out there doing the Lord's work user, great stuff.
Still doesn't beat the king
>battery life is shit
can't you just use the charging cord for a wired connection on PC?
>micro usb
annoying but that's fine
does my ancient bluetooth dongle suck or does this ding DC a lot
There is no such thing as a controller without drift. It might be sturdier than the original SPC. That much I'm willing to believe. But no drifting "ever"? Yeah, nobody is gonna believe that.
do the DS4s have that weird material the DS3 joysticks were made of? Mine got sticky and stay sticky no matter how much I clean them. I had to get some joystick covers for them.
Yes, that is, the Dualshock 1 and 2. They have excellent built quality and durable, permanently wired cords. I've been using my PSone Dualshocks on my computer for about 20 years now. Find yourself a good quality xinput adapter and you're golden. Dualshock 3 is a good choice if you want wireless. There are aftermarket batteries. The rumble kinda sucks and no one likes the 'triggers' but they have excellent analog sticks that don't drift as far as I know. They use some kind of magnetic sensor. DS1 and 2 theoretically could drift, they're basically the same potentiometer design as ds4, but they seem much better made.
I use the wireless adapter and I've never had any issues with it.
This controller is great up until you realize NOBODY makes custom shells for it.
Mine does :(
>can't you just use the charging cord for a wired connection on PC?
you can but like I said the port breaks a lot, it's easy to replace because the port is a standalone module you can easily replace, using it wired will break it faster if you don't play with it completely still
you can also turn off the stupid led via steam or DS4windows, that might help battery life a bit
not on my pro, my joycons drifted after a year.
besides that I has a dualshock 4 drift right out of the box.
Xbox one s controller
I'm actually pretty interested if it has all joycon/Pro Controller features. Costs the same as a Pro Controller, but if I can get a nicer d-pad and all the same features otherwise, I'm game.
DS4 sticks are made of a cheaper plastic, I think it can also get sticky over time but that's the least of your concerns with it, the stick rubber head will wear out before that happens, that's why you see a lot of people buying stick covers this is never an issue with any xbone controller
It's a Gulikit KingKong Pro2 and I think they're legit on the no drift thing.
Calibration tests I've seen have them way more accurate too since they actually reach zero at neutral.
I hear the problem is the rest of the button construction but those are easier to fix but you can't do anything about the bulk of modern shit potentiometers but you can fix a lot of button issues.
I'll gladly spring 60 for this when my current 24 dollar chinkshit gives up the final ghost, already repaired it once. That's because I've spent 90, 120 at a time with potentiometers fucking up after 1-3 months constantly.
I hope by that time they have better shell and button construction.
Based, thanks for the review. gamepad-tester.com
But that's crap on the buttons like I suspected. Have you tried to open the case and look at the button construction? I'm wondering how hard they are to work on. I have fixed controllers with the dumbest shit like trim the dangly piece of rubber that didn't get sliced right at the factory, or augment a weak backstop with those thin 3M contact hanging strips for hanging pictures and crap.
No it isn't. The dualshock is ergonomically shitty and an afterthought because they took the original dpad based controller and just tacked on two sticks at the bottom. The dreamcast controller was designed with analog stick gaming in mind from the off. Dualshock and xbox have the same identical right half but the left half of the xbox controller and dreamcast controller was always planned for modern games whereas the dualshock left half is a product of an afterthought upgrade
Yeah my pro controller has always been fine but the drifting joycons are absolutely unacceptable.
no, they have joycons, which are ones with severe drift issues
Xbox always had the best controllers. If I was in charge of making one I’d rip it off too.
I have an Xbone controller and got some covers for it as well since mine is a couple of years old and the joysticks lost that texture. They feel good now. But yeah, I keep all my controllers clean and my 360/Bones work well to this day. My 3 DS3s all have those weird warped/sticky thumbsticks. The covers make a difference and was thinking about getting a DS4 since I never had one. I like to switch up controllers for different games on PC.
Been using the steam controller but the left grip issue is bugging the shit out of me. Is the xbox elite worth 120 or what?
user, you don't have to pretend to be smart.
It's pretty well known the old dook was just the dreamcast controller with 6 buttons again and a stick slapped on.
Even down to the memory units.
My computer doesnt recognize my Pro controller when I use a USB cable anyone know whats wrong?
>Use electromagnetic potentiometer for your controller
>Sell it as the second coming of christ
>The rest of your controller is just cheapass membrane instead of microswitches
Good fucking job, you have no drift but you're still stuck with shitty, mushy buttons that wear down in a couple of months, what stops me from buying two of those potentiometers and soldering them to a decent fucking controller?
Since everyone is talking about it now and I've been working on this for a time I might as well post my findings.
I bought tons of controllers over the months to test.
These are the stats for the KK2PRo controller.
Remember there are 3 controllers I bought, and they all had similar deadzone/accuracy AFTER the update you install from their chink site.
Again.
The sticks are good
but be weary about the dpad issue.
Probably because Switch has no games
Needs a compatibility layer, see if Steam picks it up.
I was comparing dualshock and xbox/dreamcast not xbox and dreamcast. The modern dualshock is literally the product of an afterthought being the analog sticks which were added later on whereas dreamcast and xbox controller were designed with analog stick gaming from launch.
Objects can't evolve you dumbfuck
I've had mines for 5 years now and it started to drift last month, luckily it is piss easy to open up and fix
if your SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, GC or hexbox buttons haven't worn down yet there's no reason conductive rubber buttons on a brand new controller would either
