Does this ever get good? I'm 2 hours in and quite bored. Its very generic and childish, almost like a children's fantasy book.
How long should I play before dropping it?
Does this ever get good? I'm 2 hours in and quite bored. Its very generic and childish...
>How long should I play before dropping it?
However long you want to play it
It's not for you, just drop it now.
No, it gets worse.
If you don't like it 2 hours in, I don't think you'll like it later on, no point in forcing yourself to play it.
It doesn't get better until like the end of the game, and it takes too long to get to that point
>almost like a children's fantasy book.
That's kind of what they were going for. Don't worry though, the Alex Jones-tier lore the series is known for gets introduced later on.
>it gets good 80 hours in
(unironically post end game)
The general consensus is after chapter 4 is when the ball finally starts rolling.
Though for me I liked it pretty much immediately.
Maybe try TLOU 2, that should be more your style, you mature gamer you
So play definitive edition and ignore 2?
I've never played tlou2 but I can assure you it is better than this slop.
>just ignore the better game of the two, bro
Not really the main character is terrible and completely ruins the game, also the combat is complete trash. The only good parts are the villains, they are pretty cool characters. If you have some interest in the story, buy the expansion, with that you access to a difficulty slider that will let you breeze through everything. The expansion is also pretty good overall.
Do you even like jrpgs? Why are you playing this? To fit in? To get hyped for xeno3 or something?
Pretty much anyone that likes jrpgs would like this game, or at least not think it garbage. I didn't love the mmo combat or poor graphics but I liked everything else. What don't you like?
I played it to the end because anons kept telling me "the twist at the end will make up for it" but I personally wasn't too impressed. All in all when I played DE it felt like every cutscene changed the rules of the world drastically while 2 felt like a huge amount of generic shonen stuff and I'm not a big fan of shonen. I don't regret playing and I'm excited for 3 but 1 is my favorite so far.
But 1/DE has higher praise
Chapter 3 gets good, which is like, 10 hours in, Chapter 4 is filler but it's coming off one of the early climaxes/lore dumps of the story. Chapter 4 is about 15 hours in and around 20 hours is Chapter 5, which is good but it's really cut scene heavy. Chapter 6 is when the ball starts rolling and it get's really fucking good, but it's also about 25 to 30 hours in, depending on side questing or if you get stuck. It's a very slow burn, perhaps too long. The ending of chapter 1 completely hooked me, the end of chapter 3 lined me and the end of chapter 6 solidified the game for me, but I was willing to see where it went. Weebshit also doesn't bother me so that helped.
XC2 is very important on fleshing out the franchise as a whole and is the very reason why XCDE and XC3 even exist. Skipping it would make you miss out on a lot of relevant things that were added to the franchise with XC2 and would continue on in XC3.
It gets good after 300 hours
ADHD retard being filtered. Drop it already you don't deserve kino
it gets better 20 hours in.
When's the mech one coming to switch?
You should only play mature games for mature gamers such as yourself
combat takes an incredibly long time to get good. you keep unlocking mechanics 1 by 1 for literal hours and dont have the full kit until the game is half over or some shit. once you get there its sweet though
I like them enough to not refer to them as jrpgs you fucking retarded tendie. The game is abysmal in more ways than one and has the worst menus of all time. Terrible combat that gets solved, bottom of the barrel side quests, laughable skill trees, MULTIPLE mobile game systems implemented for no reason at all, you couldn't see why someone would think this game is an a complete abomination? Seriously? Good fucking grief.
The battle system opens up more as you play but in terms of tone, world and character design this is what you get so if you don't like it now there is no reason to keep going.
The game uses a lot of red herrings and misleading plot points near the beginning in order to mislead you and make the real revelations in the plot later in the game more impactful.
If you stick with it, I can promise your it’s worth your while, but I also realize it’s not a game for everyone, and especially not one that people are willing to dedicate dozens of hours into. I can promise you that it’s anything but generic once the real story begins opening up; it’s just a matter of allowing the game to get to that point.
If you played and enjoyed the first game, 2 is essentially a diametrically opposed answer to the same thematic questions 1 asked, and it adds quite a lot of substance to the series as a whole. Fantastic game all around in my opinion.
>complaining about a 90 hour JRPG not being exciting 2 hours in
The fuck did you expect?
It's quite shit
Just pretend Xenoblade on the Wii was a stand alone game
First JRPG?
Play it until you finish it, then drop it
Im also playing it out of hype for 3, but i dont have time to finish it before july. I just got to the part where I run around the first town looking for poppi pieces. Im starting to like this game but is very cutscene heavy and i just want to breeze through it to experience more of the story. If i was a teenager with 18 hours of free time, i'd be eating this game like crazy but i just dont have the time
should i go with the torna expansion instead?
your only option is to hope you roll an op blade early to steamroll the game
enjoy your gacha kek
Just turn on casual mode in the options. It makes 99% of the fights an absolute joke and let’s you breeze through the story pretty quick.
Although if you’re planning on playing 3, you should at least familiarize yourself with the combat as best you can, as 3 seems to be borrowing most of its combat system from 2
didnt know there was a casual mode. Yeah, dont worry about the combat stuff, when 3 comes out, i'll take my time with it. Thanks, user
If you don't like it, don't play it. It's obviously not to your taste. Why punish yourself playing something you don't enjoy?
You don’t even need to rely of rolls to win fights, the game hands you Myrthra and Wulfric which can demolish any of the story fights.
It's one of the few recent games that I was able to pick up and play start to finish without ever losing interest.
Sorry you don't like it. While it does Shounen storylines and MMORPG-like gameplay really well, those things aren't for everyone.
I started the game and turned on BoC and its pretty fun. Chapter 3 filtered me and I had to look up a guide and use Corvin for the chapter end fight.
If you're not in it for the waifus and the waifus alone, you're not going to enjoy it.
>I've never played tlou2 but I can assure you it is better than this
(not that user)
God damn, you people are so easy to bait, and even easier to reveal your agenda.
Of course the tranny would recommend TLOU2
Happy to help, user!
/thread
everything else in the game sucks but the waifus are god tier
An agenda? For fuck’s sake, man.
Make a less obvious thread next time, user.
>shitty characters
>softcore hentai
>shitty combat
>tutorials and tips for dayz
>annoying piece of shit main character
Yep, kino time.
plz if this is generic let me know specific games where I can find more
>Yea Forums is now resetera
How did that happen?
>there’s too many tutorials! why can’t the game get a move on?
>nothing is explained about combat! this game makes no sense!
Which is it?
Sorry, if you're American, getting to like this game is a big natural hurdle to you.
>user banned (1 month)
>reason: misogynistic concern trolling
wat
Why make such a long game if it means that it’s not capable of consistently entertaining the player.
I’m not even the OP. What’s my agenda?
It’s the first one. I actually said that in my initial post.
Why is the plot of future connected so bad?
I know XC1 has lower standards than 2 for its story, but future connected is so hyper bland.
It's really just there to wrap up Melia's story. We probably won't understand its implications for the larger Xenoblade series until 3 releases
I'm guessing the Fog King and rift shit will be part of XC3 story, I started Future Connected on Sunday and beat it yesterday, 6 hours and I had all the Ponspectors, too. There was just nothing there. Also I didn't even know that the "Extra Story" thing at the bottom of the menu for XC1DE was even a menu option. I searched for how to play FC thinking it was extra paid DLC.
>There was just nothing there
this is exactly how I felt as well.
It may be a bridge between the three games, but it honestly feels like nothing happens and then it ends.
Especially compared to the stakes of all other XC games, the way FC ends is just anti-climactic.
I know it's supposed to wrap up Melia (which was necessary), but it has no real character development for her to actually do so.
Maybe a tad with her accepting her role, but that was a foregone conclusion anyway.
Do I need to play xc 1 and 2 both for xc 3 release?
Should i start with 1 or can i play 2 first
The only interesting thing to me was how the new land on the Bionis shoulder was strikingly similar to parts of Mira in Xenoblade X.
I liked the shoulder itself, the level design was much more XC2 than the bland xc1 design.
The "ribs" definitely gave it an X vibe, though.
You should play both, as 3 is a direct sequel to the stories of both games, and has a few returning characters from them.
In terms of play order, you can play either one first, but the plot twists of 2 are much more impactful if you have the context of 1 in mind
