what's (you)r favourite from the new millenia?
2000s FPS games
CoD 1, loved it as a kid, but I never played it again in adult period. Better to leave it like that I guess.
Nolf 1 I played later in my 20's and really liked it.
half life 2 and halo ce
I remember my Dad getting me Return to Castle Wolfenstein for Christmas in 2001 since we both loved Wolf 3D. I think it's the very last video game my Dad bought that wasn't just a gift for me, but that he also wanted to play.
Anyway, my favorites would be:
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
No one Lives Forever
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
idk if biocock counts but thats my fav
you gonna help him light his cig?
>Team Fortress 2
>Wolfenstein ET
>Killing Floor
I like how he stomps the cigarette out after a few puffs.
Ricochet
You posted it.
Timesplitters 2
No one lives forever
MoH Allied Assault
Urban Chaos
007 Nightfire
XIII
Peter Jackson's King Kong
WTF
Unreal Tournament GOTY (technically 2000) and 2k4
Deus Ex isn't really a 'shooter', but it is first person and you can shoot so I'll mention it
In that same line of thinking, Metal Gear Solid 2 has first person shooting and even an entitely FPS mode in the Substance VR missions where you can move and shoot at the same time
StarWars Battlefront and Bf2, also Republic Commando
Team Fortress 2
Counter Strike: Source
Garry's Mod
Halo 1, 2, and 3
CoD 1, 2, 4, and 5
AssaultCube
Cube 2 Sauerbraten
dues ex
Alright.
1. Battlefield 2
2. Medal of Honor AA
3. Team Fortress 2 when it came out.
Wolfenstein 2009
>that pumpkinhead cheat
soul
time splitters 2 and 3 and riddick efbb
C&C Renegade
Single Player FPS peaked during this decade
literally nothing will ever surpass this game, mainly because no one gives a shit about single player anymore
fear is kind of a boring game with repetitive encounters, AI that's more show than go and incredibly ugly visuals. You jerk it off too much.
I'm not saying that it's like objectively the best or anything (it most certainly isn't), but I played through AvP2 so many fucking times and it holds a special place for me.
stfu and go back to zoom redditernal, son
adults are talking
elden fag here, i agree with him.
Fear is a 360 game which the zoomers grew up on. It also only has like 3 enemy types. It's so boring and samey, the embarrassing thing is it's not just hideous and worse looking than Doom 3 from 2004 (Fear is from 05), it's worse looking than The Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay on the Original Xbox from 2004 which had the same AI tricks you're jerking off but with actual competent level design and mechanics.
well color me SHOCKED
>incredibly ugly visuals
no. the lighting alone was beautiful enough to carry it at the time, let alone all the fancy effects and textures
>repetitive encounters
if they're actually fun, repetition doesn't matter that much. it's a shooter, it's going to have some samey moments.
>AI that's more show than go
The AI is the exact sort of smoke and mirrors that is very fun to fight against. Half Life 2's AI was technically much better but the Combine fights are super boring and forgettable.
that's not a colour
i want a new ET with a better flamethrower
and a real shotgun
>boring game
There's so much depth to the combat, I don't see how anyone could find it boring.
>AI that's more show than go
and still far better than any FPS game that's come out since, shows how awful the game development scene has become
>incredibly ugly visuals
If you were talking about Perseus Mandate with its awful lighting, then you'd have a point.
>the lighting alone was beautiful enough to carry it at the time
No. You were too young at the time but anyone with a discerning eye could tell it wasn't very good.
>if they're actually fu
having your flash light pointed out stops being fun after the second time.
>Half Life 2
another bad game. Did you ONLY play PC games or something? Don't live in a bubble, it completely distorts your view.
>There's so much depth to the combat
you shoot the guy he stops shooting and eventually dies. Oh and there's baby mode slow mo for the gradius 3 players in the audience
>still far better than any FPS game that's come out since
nah, killzone 2 and 3 had more dynamic and enjoyable AI to fight against.
>If you were talking about
Fear 1 from 2005.
>inb4 I'm actually 98 years old
Biggest problem with FPS games - and this was examplified in the 2000s - is the lack of innovative gun designs, because 90s titles like Unreal and Blood and Quake actually innovated a bit.
Nowadays for example you got titles like Dusk which are highly competent but with absolutely zero creativity when it comes to actual weapons you wield.
killzone 2 was a great and polished little game that was completely ruined for me by the input delay. game was gorgeous and had incredible sound design but it felt like you were drunk and underwater because of that lag.
I can't believe the earth is getting dumber, you'd think a planet that old would be wise beyond belief.
>2000s FPS games
oxymoron. They didn't even have FPSes in the 90s
>being a console FPS fanboy
I thought you guys died out by now.
I didn't mind it and find technical qualms to be a meandering distraction from the core of game design. It's boring and trite to point out Shadow of the Colossus drops framerate on the PS2 while ignoring its accomplishments on a hardware platform from 1999. KZ2 creates an utterly chaotic combat environment from foot to foot and makes urban combat feel like this scrappy and deadly battle.
>Snoy revisionist history
Give it up, dude. Not even your overlord, Tim Ryan, gives a fuck about these.
I'd blame HL2 for making guns boring and this is coming from a guy who loved that game. Gravity Gun might have been God-tier but goddamn did they just fell off with the other arsenal. First Half-Life and its expansions were at pretty creative with them at least.
You'd have to be stupid to sleep on the best games of the era and instead twiddle your thumbs with mind numbing point & clickers desperate to chase the high of an over-promoted hl1 mod.
Quit being a retarded console warrior faggot and stay on topic.
World IQ is decreasing because China, Europe and America all have below replacement birthrates. The only countries that are growing in terms of domestic population are in Africa and they generally have a mean IQ of ~65
I still play UT99 tournaments.
when it goes from a minor visual technicality to making you feel like you can't make the character do what you want them to because there is that much of a disconnect, I wouldn't only classify it as a small technical qualm. but that's just me, I need at least some degree of quick responsiveness in my controls. the game is well designed at its core though, you are right about that.
CoD 2 Multiplayer was probably my most played one. Still one of my favorite multiplayer fps. Distinct weapons, not too much bullshit and good maps, what more do you need.
>killzone 2 and 3 had more dynamic and enjoyable AI to fight against.
HL2 wasn't that bad in comparison with most stuff that came out during that decade.
yeeees
because the line goes DOOOWN, from left to riiiight
veeeeeeeeeery gooooood you're sooo smaaarrt I'm prod of you my dear zoomie
now go floss dancing as a reward for using your entire brain power to read a chart
please don't turn this into a racebait thread, i was merely jesting.
Patrician taste, hope your dads doing good
My favorite thing about the Half-Life series is how they always have alt-fires on their weapons.
what about the Spanish
what about (you)
you alone must lower our world average at least a full point
Duke Nukem Forever
Hate to go zoom zoom om you fellas, but I really enjoyed bf3 multiplayer and bf4 multiplayer when they came out. Good times.
just dropping this here: i miss playing the early medal of honor games
Thanks user, he's doing great for 68.
>bf3
it was a really good game that eventually got overtaken by the eternal metro24/7 servers. What they did to the BF and the Battlefront franchises is a crime against humanity.
Adjusting is always possible.
>brown and piss CoD clone...le masterpiece
man it's shame that game is trapped on the PS3. even if they remastered and rereleased it somehow, you just know it would be worse off. remasters are literally always worse off somehow, it's bizarre.
Great games but AA sniper mission sucked balls
