There are still some kinks to work out like door transitions that have that typical FPS tied to game logic problem, but the fact that it's working as well as it is at native 1080p 60 FPS already is amazing.

OoT has been an obsession of mine since it came out all of those years ago and as it captured me as a child back then.
I guess this is the first I've heard of any new content, just been assuming the PC port is just OoT running natively on pc at 60fps, and wide screen, both of which I think fit the game like ass, so I haven't been following it all

Basically, a fag decompiled OoT, recompiled it on PC, and that's opening the door to all the windows, because in the future we could have extra special HD surfaces or even mods or whatever. Yay.

For now it isn't quite there yet, so yeah. It's not very much more than playing it on a N64 emulator, but eh, in the future, maybe we'll get mods for PC's OoT.

OoT is the best Zelda game. Stone Cold can fuck off.

For one, this game has never run in proper 60fps before (and chances are the upcoming Harkinian update probably still won't have it yet), and by "proper" I mean including accurate physics/mechanics and interpolated animation (even OoT3D managed to flub some things with its boost to 30fps). Also, the addition of right-stick camera controls is something that OoT3D didn't have either.

And that's just for the core experience, on top of the minor additions from the already existing base releases (like gyro aiming, adaptive resolution scaling, and aspect ratio HUD adjustment). The code that allowed this PC port to happen was basically "translated" into conventionally readable and modifiable code in its entirety, giving modders essentially the source code of the game (so having a PC port offers huge potential for further modification, without needing to worry about the limits of N64 hardware/emulation).

It's a little barebones, and the 'main' port's devs take a page from Nintendo's book when it comes to sharing info (which is to say rarely).
However, it's pretty likely that 60fps is coming soon, possibly in the next release. They've been releasing footage and, unlike the earlier clips, it's getting stable.

The current modding support is limited to code patches but they've said that will be drastically expanded with a scripting system possibly coming by the year's end.

Twilight Princess is extremely similar to OoT in game design but largely superior. The only area you can say it's worse is in the weird bug collecting sections, but it's not a big deal. Twilight princess has better dungeons, better bosses, a way better story, better music, and obviously better graphics due to being on much stronger hardware.
