>soi-chugging faggots can't handle it and give all the attention to Hollow Knight despite it being the inferior game

Why are indiefags like this? Good indie games get overlooked and forgotten just because they pander to faggot sensibilities.

Guacamelee is underrated but pretty much nothing you said is true. HK is the superior game. Sorry you can't appreciate it.

I'd rather have bugs than latinx in my video games, simple as

I'm not a hollow knight guy but guacamole is a certified baby game with reddit memes. It's not dogshit but it's not Hollow Knight

Guacamelee as a metroid-like? Christ wtf. Here, have your >you

>reddit memes

lurk more newfag

HK is reddit incarnate, you need to go back there

Attached: ar.jpg (960x544, 58.6K)

>Not reddit memes

Attached: ee5.jpg (772x769, 199.56K)

wasn't this a commentary on Mexican meme culture and how they're always behind?

Guacamelee is fun but it's not as good as Hollow Knight

> Gentlemen
> Pedo bear

> Redit memes

in 2014, yes

the game was made by three Canadian white guys so I doubt it was that deep

Go back

>noooo memes always stay on Yea Forums and never disperse out into the wider internet nooooo

>thinking any game can be as good as Hollow Knight

They are both garbage, they feel like games I would have played for free on newgrounds

Don't talk shit about Strong Bad, faggot.

This was almost a decade after these memes were conceived, Tyler. And yes they were reddit memes as opposed to Yea Forums image macros you fucking sperg

Hollow knight is a FOTM, just an early one. I was blown away by how unremarkable it was given how much praise is heaped upon it. If you've played any soulslike it's extraordinarily derivative and samey.

To think this was insufferable back then yet this would be entirely wojaks if made in 2022. It always gets worse.

*kills your game's reputation*

Nuthin personal kid....

Hollow Knight is better but Guacamelee got robbed, it's really good and way better than Axiom Verge

I like Guacamelee but I hate that you have to press inwards when you hit a wall. It is really inaccurate. I'm still mad we didn't get Guac 3 instead of that shit RPG they made.

Pretty long month

>just an early one
What does that even mean?

Guacamelee is great but I didn't like 2 nearly as much and the devs seething about people disliking the memes in the first game was weird

I liked the memes. Both of the games have a funny sarcasm to them. I wish they went harder with the game ripoffs in 2 and yeah I didn't like it as much easier because the Chicken Crucible was a pain in my ass.

Guac games were both fantastic, the chicken form in 2 was not great but the overall combo mechanic had more work put into it that made it even more fun than it was in the first game. Infierno challenges in Guac 1 were especially fun.
Hollow Knight had a great art style, but the map got frustrating to traverse after a while, and the character felt too stiff to platform with (too little momentum). I didn't feel like continuing after getting the dream needle and doing a couple of the bosses after needing to re-tread the map with it.

>Ok class, are you ready for the "best metroidvania ever" lessons?
>Super Metroid nodded.
>Ori knelt.
>Axiom Verge trembled.
>Hollow Knight gulped.
>Symphony of the Night shivered.
>They all said in unison.
>Yes, Master Rabi-Ribi

>Hollow Knight had a great art style
I could never understand what people see in its art, it looks AI generated to me, after being fed nothing but emo wallpapers from mid-00s deviantArt

Attached: 17519.jpg (787x656, 560.42K)

you guys keep cycling between "hollow knight killers" that it's obvious that you're just being contrarian. If you guys stuck to one you'd be easier to believe

The game is old, and the twitch FOTM hasn't been going that long. What's hard to understand?

>graph with no numbers
Ah yes I like when it shoots up to 4 sales in may 2021

>everything I don't like is a FOTM

It's not a "killer", that would imply it's trying to surpass a standard set by HK, when HK set no such standard and Guacamelee was better and came out before it

>any negative observation on the game I like is wrong

the only great part is the bosses. The world around them is mediocre

Spooky bug cave is a nice aesthetic, and some of the architecture is even a bit Giger-esque. It evokes a strong feeling of exploring something old that was abandoned for a very long time, kind of like the tone of Dark Souls 1.
It's got some nice setpieces, and the City of Tears was one that always stuck out to me.

If it hadn't set a standard then you idiots wouldn't keep making threads where you try to beat that standard with a random, less popular metroidvania.
I remember when it was axiom verge and momodora you were hucking

Rabi-Ribi's world is fun as fuck to explore on the basis that it's truly almost completely open, as opposed to something like Super Metroid that requires extensive knowledge of tricks and mechanics in order to go off the beaten path.
>the only great part is the bosses
yeah having the best combat in the genre kinda does help its case

guacamelee is really easy and slow paced

Yeah

It's also criminally linear. It may have a metroidvania style map but you're just moving from hallway to hallway in a straight fucking line as it gives you new abilities

There's nothing to beat retard, Guacamelee was better and came out 4 years earlier but didn't catch on like HK did because it didn't have a globohomo setting and aesthetic, that's the point of the thread

I wish. I hate Metroidvania map shit and they have you go all over the place.

Guacamelee was just alright.

That's what makes it better than other games in the genre. Due to this the platforming segments later on become great while you're chaining skills and shifting dimensions to get through sections.

bugs>mexicans

And the setting is shit. I don't want to play some mexican spic game. Sorry the style is just irritating to look at. I can go enjoy Guac at my local mexican cartel resturaunt, Hollow Knight is something you can't see in every game. The atmosphere in it is unique to it.

No, it makes guacamelee a self playing baby game where you press the color of the button that matches whatever obstacle. It's cringebarassing

Hollow Knight is too long, you don't make a 30+ hours metroidvania and you expect it to be good.

You don't have colors for platforming. For destructible blocks you do, but not extending your jump.

if there is nothing to beat then why do you keep making threads about it? Why can't you talk about quacamelee on it's own? Why do you need another game to prop up the discussion?
is it because quacamelee just isn't that remarkable?

For me, it's Blasphemous

Attached: blasphemous.png (1024x1024, 1.83M)

>it's the best metroidvania because it's a bad metroidvania
have you figured out that the genre just isn't for you

BASED BASED BASED.
sleeper hit right fucking here
>BUHU the platforming and combat are shit
No, you're shit. This game rocks, the dlc is iffy and the bloodstained crossover challenges are gay tho

>image macros
How long has it been since I last seen someone use this term..

You can run off track any time you wish, it just has better flow than any of the other games in the genre with wasting your time the least.

>le soulslike meme

My biggest pet peeve with Metroidvanias is that the movement abilities you get trivialize the platforming. I like that Blasphemous' abilities alter the world instead to keep the focus on tight platforming challenges.

I think there's more than enough variety in the level design itself to keep things fresh even if your toolkit is somewhat limited compared to other games in the genre. It's not the approach I'd prefer for every Metroidvania but I think it works really well in this case

faggot haha

Why isn't this game talked about more? It is insanely good.

This

never played hollow knight but guacamelee is complete shit
ugly as fuck, repetitive combat and terrible level design

Attached: 1614567780170.jpg (636x476, 58.9K)

because you can get all the best parts by looking up screenshots

Sometimes games get undervalued soley on the art style. guacamelee is a better game but its art style isn't for everybody

Retards got filtered in every aspect
The art filtered them
The music filtered them
The religious aspect filtered them
The gameplay filtered them
The platforming filtered them
The combat filtered them
The quests filtered them
The bosses filtered them
The map filtered them
Never have I seen so many people shit on this game while simultaneously outting that they dropped the game at the second or third boss

Lol is it opposite day or something

Fuck off with this gay anime shit.
Sick of seeing it suggested with some coomer dweeb boasting about his generic loli mvania. Play something without half-naked children for once in your life, I'm begging you.

You fucking illiterate or something? The point of the thread is that if the game's theme doesn't pander to the indie audience it's doomed to failure even if it's objectively better, if we switched the assets of the two games around so HK's gameplay and levels were conveyed through Guac's visuals, people would be talking about Guac's gameplay presented through HK's bugs instead

Why does Hollow Knight's jump have a weird delay to it? I don't think it's just input lag on my switch, because other moves don't have as much delay to them. It makes the game feel sluggish to control.

This game is one of the best Metroidvanias in the last decade. In my opinion it's better than both games in the OP image.

All three games are good, but fucking Christ, Blasphemous just oozes with atmosphere so good that I haven't seen in a Metroidvania since, well, Super Metroid.

the combat is boring and the game controls like shit

>The point of the thread is that if the game's theme doesn't pander to the indie audience it's doomed to failure even if it's objectively better
if quacamelee were objectively better than discussion of it would happen naturally instead of it dependinv on it's "fans" crying over a different game being more successful.

So you are illiterate, what a sorry sight
